Hill billy got it
@@joshuabachelder88 Kit comes with Ceramic Coat, Applicator and Towel. I just ordered 4 kits in total.
Ordered it for my 2012 JKU
This is an awesome kit but it doesn’t come With clay bar
Hillbilly, my deepest condolence to you and your family on the passing of your Uncle.
Robby, your new ride is pretty but I've seen enough of Matt's videos to know that all those electronics just get it the way. Hands down, Grandpa wins! Condolences to Hillbilly's family.
We are on the same page. I hate the new bullshit 😂
Old school more reliable
Some electronics are good. Traction control and brake blending on my motorbike are a definite relief, and the quickshifter is super fun.
The constant nannying by my car that won't let me have power if the front wheels slip even a little bit, and then takes away everything until the engine calms down enough for the turbo to stop? Makes me want to shut the whole lot off, but I know I'd just understeer into a ditch on the first rainy day.
Hill start assist? Turned it off as soon as I got the car. I know how to do hill starts, the car does not.
100%
More like great, great, great uncle. I've got one the grandsons of that rig (3rd gen t4r).
Sorry Robby but I gotta go with dad’s (Jim Butcher) old Toy! Shout out to Hillbilly for keeping his legacy and doing all the things dad would have loved to do with the old Toy! Can’t wait to see more!
sorry for your loss ashley
My condolence. I am sure Hillbilly will do the right thing.
Sorry for your Loss Ashley. You did your dad proud by giving it to Hillbilly!! Classy Move!
sorry for your loss! if anyone will make your pops proud with it, hillbilly is the right man for the job!
It was incredible to hear you all gave this to someone that was connected and would appreciate it for what it is. Your father obviously raised you right, God bless.
Sorry to hear about your families loss Hillbilly. When his children thought you would be the best person to takeover the ownership of his off road "love" they nailed it. Love those older Toyotas hope you have a great amount of fun with it and I know your Uncle will be happy you ended up with it!
Nice to see Aidan's ride with all that pretty dirt. Glad to see he's using it like it was meant to be.
Wanted to write the same thing! An update video would be nice if he is ok with it!
Absolutely!! Lifted my spirits, that shot did - recognized it immediately, and loved that it was painted in mud. Fantastic!!!
Both, Demri's and Robby's laugh always make _me_ laugh. They make a great couple.
Hell yah they do ! There awsome together. I’m just alittle jeolous he’s got a sexy snow bunny . Lol
@@davestevens4263 you sound mad goofy, "snow bunny"💀
Love that Hillbillys got a new toy, albeit under sad circumstances. Also so cool to see Aidens truck back and dirty as it should be 😊
Hillbilly definitely wins the cool factor. Love the relationship y’all have. So much fun to watch. Our condolences to Hillbilly and his family.
I'm going to give the win to Hillbilly, just soooooooo cool, both figuratively and literally. I hope that they both give you guys many years of smiles!!!
You can't really compare the two vehicles. If you're talking trekking around Utah's back country, Hillbilly has it. If you are looking for a get around family car that can go of road, Robby's got it
Drives to Walmart, and the mall with these new ones. Quite the bummer.
They just compared the two vehicles.....
Condolences and prayers to Hillbilly and his family.
I have to say the '83 is my favorite. I had one. A lot of fond memories there!
Not sorry, Robby. Your rig is nice. Baring the color, it looks like every other Toyota/Lexus out. It'll get lost in the mix.
Hillbilly's Toyota stands out. Even if he put it back to 1983 new, it would still stand out!
I laughed out loud when Hillbilly said "It rides a little rough" Anyone who knows those old Toyotas know they rode more like a tractor than a truck, and most don't have tractor tires on it like that one haha Both are awesome in different ways, I hope you guys re-do that old one, then Hillbilly will have an amazing truck. Cheers from New Brunswick, CAN.
I bought a 1983 Toyota SR5 new off the showroom floor. wish I had it back!! Probably one of the best truck I’ve had. It’s a wheelin monster and pretty sure it would out wheel the new Toyotas.
in my neighborhood, there is an old man with a blue one. It is in amazing shape!! he just parks it on the street, windows down and doors unlocked so no one " breaks in" Has a kill switch on it so no one can take it( ive talked to him) god I want that truck, So basic and simple yet so awesome.
I own an 85 and a 2021. The 85 will go places I wouldn't dare with the 21.
It might be an old Trekker, but the 4runner was not available officially until 1984. If it's an old Trekker, that's actually way cooler than a 4runner
@My Cancer Journey try harder elsewhere
Too bad scammer now go away.
That’s true. The. 4 runner wasn’t available in America until 1984. The land cruiser was under military contract to some Central America country. My family had the third 4 runner sr5 to come in to the state of Georgia in 1984. Back when the biggest tires you could get were 33s. Man that was a great truck.
@@SammyTheDitchDoctor we have a 1985 currently. Love that little rig
On the flex ramp you need to calculate in wheel base too. The old Toyota went higher and has a shorter wheel base, this intern probably gives it double the flex ratio over the new one.
Both of the vehicles are cool rides. Robby and the boss deserve a modern family car with all the bells and smells. Hillbilly deserves his uncle’s (RIP) rough and tumble mountain crawler. You know over time he will upgrade the build and his uncle will smile down on him with pride. I’m calling this one a photo finish tie.
Grandpa wins! Great to see that Aiden is using the truck the way his dad would have. Y'all are an awesome family.
Hillbilly, sorry to hear about your uncle! But he had good taste, I owned a 1985 Toyota forerunner, loved it for 14 years, and I hope someone like you found it to use it too!❤️
Hillbilly my deepest condolences, I know how it feels, I have one parent left, and no grandparents. You guys have a better week and count your blessings amen.
Hillbilly, the 83 is a tank. Back in the day Downey off road had all the best stuff for these rigs. The top loader five speed may develop input bearing whine at about 50k intervals. The 22R needs a header and Mikuni dual side drafts with 4:88 with 32x11.50R15's and you will love this rig the way I loved my 82, Cheerio, Mate
Sorry to hear about your uncle, Hillbilly. That is a cool looking Forerunner.
Before I even watch this video.. I'm going to say that Hillbilly made the more sensible purchase. After watching... I offer my condolences to Hillbilly for the loss of his uncle. I still like his ride better.
After watching so many recoveries, I want to know what tow points you have on the new rig vs the old one. I think the older Toyota will be much easier to recover when needed. Both will have to be towed at some point. haha
Oh man, that has to be one of my new most favorite vehicles. I'm so sorry for your loss Hillbilly. Love ya buddy.
So very sorry to hear about your uncle, Hillbilly. 🙏
Love the 4Runner! It’s in the right hands…👍
My condolences Hillbilly. Thats one sweet toyota you inherited. As others have mentioned thats not technicaly a 4runner, but a Trekker. It was the predacessor to the 4runner. I've only ever seen a couple listed on craigslist. I have an 85 4runner that is verry similar, but with the next generstion truck body lines, and EFI. I love my runner. It's really rough inside and out, and I feel it's underpowered for daily driving. However, it would take someone willing to pay about 10 times it's actual value if they wanted to get it off of me.
I had an '84 4Runner. The tranny and engine weren't beefy, but they were durable and reliable. I also had a '84 4x4 Xtracab that I'd highly customized. Really wish I had that one back (sold it because I moved here to Japanland).
I'm with Hillbilly on this one. Robby you have a very beautiful vehicle, I'm very happy for you. I've had new vehicles as well, I discovered they wound up owning me- I worried about parking them in parking lots, getting scratches and dings. Maintenance, insurance, upkeep and of course things going wrong with them that were very expensive. Hilbilly's vehicle gets him from A to B, Maintenance, insurance, etc. is so much cheaper. If you get a door ding or a rock chip you won't be crying. Thankfully Hillbilly can work on his relatively inexpensively and hopefully not wait months for parts. Your Sequoia is absolutely beautiful. I pray you and Hillbilly both enjoy many happy, safe miles and adventures in your respective new rides. Hillbilly I'm sorry for your lose, I'm sure your uncle will be riding along with you. Love all of you guys, stay safe and GOD bless
Right on Hillbilly!! Welcome to team Toyota! That truck has huge potential.
Old Grampa is my vote. Have a great day you both.
Your new toyota looks amazing…You should restore Hillbillies’ Toyota. I bet Hillbilly would love to have that happen.
I agree 100%
Was this the uncle that sold the Toyota to Robby for the new Rock Crawler? Either way, sorry for your loss Hillbilly. I think it's awesome that the old machine will carry on his legacy.
I feel ya Hillbilly, I lost my dad a few years ago, and I just got his 1979 GMC Jimmy back, it's gonna be a long road, but I'm gonna get it back on the trail.
The older somethings are the better it's made. Sorry about your uncle Hillbilly but he knew how to build a great truck to just have fun in. Nice ride Robby love the color. Thanks for the video stay safe guy's.
always enjoy your content and the crew, but sure would be nice to see Dinner more like he used to be involved, he was a major part of the entertainment
Dinner actually quit. Not something we wanted, but he moved to be closer to his fiancé.
That probably wasn't the best idea for Dinner. I think he will come to regret that decision. But hey everyone needs to learn from their own experiences. He will be missed for sure.
@@RobbyLayton Wow that really sucks, but thanks for letting us know. Are you going to address this in a video? He will be missed from the Layton crew shenanigans.
@@RobbyLayton He'll be missed for certain. Shout out to you coming right out and saying it; people move on and do their thing but us viewers are often left wondering what happened. At least we can come to terms and won't be guessing. I much prefer the facts, thank you.
The old Toyota has one thing you can't buy - family! Super cool that he got his uncle's truck. Now you guys have to make it awesome, it's family pride. Have fun Hillbilly.
Got my 1985 Toyota Sr5 4x4 from my grandpa that passed away. Been working on restoring it as it was rolled on its side years ago! Drive it regularly and helps me be close to him.
Our condolences go to Hillbilly and his family. His uncle's truck was cool back in '83, and has had four decades to accumulate more cool. Grandson never had a chance in that competition. Not sure about the tires, though. If he decides to swap them out, they could probably be reused on a skid steer or something.
Hillbilly also wins the customization possibilities category. And don't forget if we ever get hit by and EMP we all know which one of these will still be operational.
Great rig Hillbilly. Sorry to hear about your uncle though. My very first 4X4 was a 1985 Toyota Xtra cab SR5. 2.4 liter 4 cyl. wit the 5 speed manual tranny. It had automatic locking hubs, (that was the FIRST thing to go, swapped them out for some Mile Marker Locking hubs), the cream color paint with Gold wheels, (I STILL have those wheels:) and 4.10 gears, no lockers. God I miss that truck. Yes the solid axel, leaf spring suspension was stiff but i have hauled 2 ton of rock and sand in it. You are gonna LOVE that truck.
Hillbilly was left a first gen Forerunner. Thank You , family. So awesome.
Wondering if they is any Australian guests coming 🤔. Great video as always 👍. So sorry for your loss Hillbilly rip 🙏
That limo project is going to be fire when finished. Nice work to all.
Hillbilly, my deepest condolence. Lost my dad 4 weeks ago. Both cars are great but I would take the old one. Another heart-warming episode. Thank you.
Sorry to hear about your dad. That's a rough thing to go through. Cherish the memories!
Allison from the Toyota Kansas City Region here - just found out that my dad is a big fan! So pumped to see the Sequoia found an awesome home!
The new morman assault vehicle is awesome! Love ur new mom ride boss
Robby you win, the paint takes it over the hill. Enjoy your channel, y'all doing great.
Maybe they will paint hillbilly's the same color, he did say he's repainting it!
Hey Hillbilly man,
Sorry for the loss of your unkle,
And may you have many good memories and moments with him in your heart.
😢❤
1983 for the Win! lol!
Demery's giggles made this so fun.
Sequoia wins the Powder Puff award.
Would have Hillbillys truck all day long.
🙋🏼♂️ DINNERS LEFT THE BUILDING 😿
Hope to see him again 🤠
He quit us 2 weeks ago we are pretty sad about it
@@RobbyLayton 🙋🏼♂️ thanks Robby for the reply . You’re Chanel has great content , humor while teaching and learning new products and having fun . 😎 Bright future for all involved ✅.
4:20 now that square body in the background looks more like something hillbilly would drive I know I'd love to own it lol
I'm almost certain there was no 4runner in '83 haha. That's just a pickup with the cab cut off.
Nope. 81 was the first. U are correct abt them using the truck to make it tho.
You are correct, there was no 4runner in '83. 1984 was the first year of the 4Runner. There was something called a "Toyota Trekker", which was a conversion made by Winnebago, that was sold from 1981 to 1983 however. It is possible that is what they have here.
Sorry for your loss, Hillbilly. May your uncle RIP. I'm sure your uncle thrashed on it and would be proud for you to do the same! I had a 1982 Toyota 4x4 in my youth, so I'm going with Grandson!
Very sorry for your loss hillbilly, I'm just a random guy but I extend my most sincere condolence. Think about it like this, God only takes the best for his army. All the love brother stay safe man
That's a great '83 4x4 (not 4Runner - they started in '84). My first rig was an '80 4x4. Later on, I had an '84 4Runner as well as an '84 4x4. I'm a Toyota guy for sure - I'm rootin' for Hillbilly's rig all day, every day over the newer blocky-looking Toy beasts. I miss my old 4x4s. Will have to live vicariously thru Hillbilly!
Real sorry for your loss Hillbilly, I'm sure he is happy you got his vehicle knowing you will take care of it happy trails Hillbilly.
Congratulations to Robby and Hillbilly on your New/ Older vehicle. Condolences to Hillbilly’s Uncle. 🤙😎
Robby, If you have not tried a 2022 GMC Yukon AT4 then you are missing out. Heated & Cooled front seats, Heated rear, Full length Sunroof, Button to lay down rear seats. Button to pop forward second row to get to third row. Been across country twice, sooooo much room for bags. Hauls like a beast with 10 speed transmission. Max Air-ride and Air-bags from entry to 6 inch lift in 4 wheel drive. Sickest vehicle. You will never drive another.
I ordered a 2022 Sienna on April 4th of 2022. It was finally delivered last week on March 25th. It is a 23 model, and loaded. It was worth the wait.
Welcome to the TRD PRO family!! You won't regret it I love my 4runner!!
I'm Sad You Lost Your Uncle Bro...Thanks For Sharing Robby And Co.
That's a awesome "Chad's Fab" hat you have on Robby. A big thumbs up.
Robby and Hillbilly should be on the stage as a comedy double act! Keep up the good work!
Hillbilly, what an honor for you to carry on your Uncle's memory and keep his rig on the road! Simplicity...all the amenities Grandpa Toy has are perfect! Soundin great too!
Congrats to the Boss and Robby on the new rice rocket! Truly space age and way cool!!!
But Grandpa will always be first! 🧓🛻🚜🦽🏆🏆🏆🥇🥇🥇
Love the color of the TRD Pro!! Toyota for life, and I'd happily drive either one of those, sorry about your loss Hillbilly
The square body with no bed in the background!! 😍
We have tried to buy several vehicles from Briggs. They have played games on every one. They have tried bait ans switch. They have played the whole “its at our lot in this town right now” game (saw the vehicle in the back). All sorts of fun stuff. Would be hard pressed to shop there and definitely wouldn’t suggest it. Glad you had a good experience though!
"You're gonna love this TRD Pro- It's got mall crawl mode"😂😂
Love love love the older Toyota.
Been using Avalon King for 2 yrs now on our Subaru. It’s so nice to just spray car off and it comes clean. Even snow slides right off. Have to reapply this year. Even tho its still working.
My condolences on your uncle. As I'm sure has been stated by now that's not a 4Runner. It's a either a Trekker (Super rare, joint effort between Toyota and Winnebago Industries) or it's an 83 Toyota Pickup. Either way they're really cool. Toyota's finest example of what a compact truck should be. Solid front axle with birfield joints, drop out center sections, gear to gear transfer case, locking hubs. Even the rear shock layout is designed for articulation. Everything you want, nothing you don't.
The roughness is usually at least partially due to the rear spring shackles seizing and then the rear springs try to flex instead and bounce. Freeing them up helps. 63" GMT400 Chevy leaf springs helps more
Sweet Toyotas gents. I got a horn like Hillbilly's that I got from a motorhome I inherited from my grandfather's passing. Sorry for your loss Hillbilly. .
Sorry about your loss and very kind of your cousins to give you your uncle's truck... I know you will use it
My condolences to Hillbilly on the loss of your Uncle. Congratulations on the 4-Runner, too.
I think the grandson needs an opportunity to get a lift and modifications like grandpa did! Then have a rematch! 😂 Sending love and prayers to you and your family Hillbilly!
Hill Billy my Prayers and condolences to you and your family
i really look forward to see the upgrades to Hillbilly's new ride. That is a bad arse ride.
The trekker all day smiles per gallon you said it best
I'm sorry to hear about the passing of Hillbilly's uncle. That '83 4Runner is absolutely amazing.
New or old, generally speaking - with some exceptions - Toyota makes a good product. I know lots of people who would give their left eyeteeth to take on that '83, and while I personally have issues with pretty much all modern autos (hyper-computerization being the main one - heck, my wife's BMW doesn't even have an oil dipstick... at all... and the newest vehicle we own is 16 years old now), I will admit the TRD group does good work even if somewhat constrained by marketing. It's a sweet ride, especially with young kids to consider.
My condolences to Hillbilly and his family on the passing of his Uncle... but his cousins are right - there is no one better suited to inherit this old trail buggy than him. He's got the resources to maintain and improve it, and the will and desire to use it as his uncle intended. Sounds like each got pretty much precisely the vehicle they needed at this point in their lives.
So, both win in my eyes. 😉
Congrats to both of you on your new rides. Two trucks built for two purposes. Both ‘Yotas so they will both do great.
Fun vid.
Hillbilly my most sincere condolences 🙏 brother. As far as the competition Robby wins that truck is the best. That old Toyota is great truck and it's not only a classic but legendary.
I am so jealous over Hillbillies toyota. That thing is a unicorn, I can't wait to see it restored.
That’s a SWEET 86ish square in the back ground!! The yodas are cool too!!
Robby, y'all need to get some sponsors together and get Hillbilly a nice truck. He deserves it, no? I know the Broncstar will be cool as a rock crawler, but......
1983 Yoda for the win. Of all my Toyota’s 4x4’s have a owned (1982, 1990, 2008), my 1982 Toyota 4x4 is the one I miss the most. Those trucks are awesome. Seeing the ‘83 reminded me of my Rancho, Smittybilt, KC lights days….
That's a toyota trekker and super rare. Sorry for your loss hillbilly but what a cool gift.
Where is the "stuck as chuck" comparison? Limp mode??? That old Toyota is not a snowflake, you can give it the beans until something breaks... opposed to the Sequoia not feeling so safe!
Next is the payment challenge.
Overall maintenance cost challenge.
How about a "how easily it dents" challenge?
Old Tacoma owner here, wish they still made them like they used to. Frame issues were bad, 330,000+ & still rockin and body is great... I wish I was the original owner and knew about the frame issues ahead of time. I've dealt with them. Good video Robbie.
You definitely can’t beat that horn either, I think he’s winning right out the gate…
(Dang new fangled orange monster.)
Sorry for your loss Hillbilly ! And the old 83 has and will be around longer than the red thing , hands down the best is the old 83 !
Hillbilly, I'm so glad the cousins gave you your uncles truck. They are right, you'll use it in the spirit in which it was intended and appreciate it too.
Got my BOGO Robby! Thanks for all you do. Thank The Boss for letting you get out of line a little bit. 😂
Sorry for the loss, Hillbilly.
Sorry for your loss Hill billy. you make your uncle proud mate.
My wife and I were married Oct. 1 1983 and we had just purchased a 1983 Toyota 4X4 so... Hillbilly WINS!🙄😆
CONGRATULATIONS Gramps.🏁
It's just depends. I know you were just playing it off, but the Tangerine would definitely be more comfortable, especially in the backseat where you don't have to strain your neck muscles to constantly hold up the tarp with your head. Tangerine would definitely win if it came to road riding. But...for a "not caring" off-road truck, I would take Hillbilly uncle's Flintstones truck (I saw daylight coming from the floor). I don't necessary think it would be more reliable when it comes to mechanical, but it would have a lot more ease getting through tough spots.
Great video Robby! LOVE your new Sequoia TRD! I would of got the same color you did! Love it man! Got the Avalon deal too! Quote of the year: "My coffee Pot is louder than this!" LOL I love the quiet!
Aidens truck looks like he's having fun with it.
Toyota Racing Development, or TRD, is an awesome option for your Toyota! Congrats to the Boss on her new ride!
I find it funny that my last name is Briggs and I currently own only 1 vehicle and it is a 2011 Toyota Sequoia Limited. I love the thing. I have put a lot of accessories into it and drive it daily.
