Yeah, this issue was great! I especially loved how not only the Warp Topaz's presence calls forward to the Metal Virus arc in the Modern era, but also the ever-growing friction between Fang and his gang kinda foreshadows Fang ending up working by himself before encountering Trip in Sonic Superstars. It always bugged me why Bean and Bark weren't in that game, and we just might be getting that answer now.
@@deniseg9210 I think Ian confirmed this story is supposed to take place between Sonic the Fighters and Superstars. (which is interesting given the former had eight Emeralds. Methinks that part of the game got retconned)
To the ending notes, better idea💡, somebody make a fan game based off all the Classic Sonic comic specials, like this mini series, seasons of chaos etc!

First, I approve of the Classic & Modern Sonic timelines being one singular continuity. Second, the term Hooligan is canon and you can call them the Hooligans (not just Fang Gang). Good going.
I feel happy to know we've got to see a classic style Egg Fleet zone, with teamwork doing the dreamwork. The Hardboiled Heavies being evil again and defying Eggman's orders... Didn't he learned from the events of Sonic Mania? And seriously, the Heavy Rider doing an Akira slide was just perfect. Our big question we all have right now is how did the Warp Topaz got here? There are many possibilities for its appearance, like first time excavation, it travel through time like the Phantom Ruby or some other stuff. If it's the first idea, then Starline, being the fan he was, looked through every little detail about Eggman's old data; if it's the latter, then the Chaos Emeralds were the culprit after the end of the Metal Virus saga. I hope we get some answers in the final chapter of this story.
really reminded of megadrive with the ship scenes and wish it had been given a conclusion.(or the megadrive get added to the idw classic comics if it ever had sketches.) think the warp topaz(compared to the phantom ruby where it could've had it's origin explained better and it/the timeline getting screwed up temporarily in forces just being that game not knowing what it was talking about with how here/generations it's the adventures of a younger modern sonic.) will be only seen by the hooligans/possibly robotnik(really read his lines in his ova voice.:3) who will just write it off with sonic/tails missing out on it as that'd be hilarious.

And, where did Fang hear about this 8th Chaos Emerald in the first place? He must’ve heard about it from somewhere, especially with the extent of how he seemed pretty convinced that it existed.

I’ve missed them so much in the modern era and desperately want them around for more action and laughs.

This is Eggman we're talking about. This wouldn't be the last time any of his own robots rebels against him and becomes a greater threat, far from it.
