Today I challenged myself to beat Pokémon Platinum in a Hardcore Nuzlocke Challenge. As a kid, the Pokémon Adventures manga was my favorite book to borrow from the library. I decided to challenge myself by completing Pokémon Platinum using Diamond's team from his adventures, but in a Hardcore Nuzlocke Challenge. This is also my first hardcore nuzlocke of Pokemon Platinum, so I'll be sharing my thoughts along the way. I hope you enjoy it!!

Diamond is probably the nicest character in the Adventures series, I still can’t believe his Munchlax didn’t evolve due to his near-lifelong friendship with the little guy 😢❤
It would've been nice to have a Snorlax by gym 2... but Lax was a cutie, can't take that away!!
I think it was an Ash's Pikachu situation, and just preferred being that way.
(And the previous two arcs had featured Snorlax used by the leads)
Both Red and Emerald have Snorlax, so Lax not evolving was likely done for the sake of variety (that and Pearl’s Chatot, his counterpart, can’t evolve anyway.)

I love how Lax was the key to defeating Cynthia despite you being tempted to let him go on multiple occasions. Reminds me of Mr. Stake the Meganium. 😆

For context they were a Chikorita starter in the Team Four Star nuzlocke of Heartgold
I love the contrasts between the pokedex holder teams in the manga, the more offensive pearl and the more balanced platinum but with a little more focus on speed
besides the fact that they basically share their pokemons
one of the best trios in the manga and the diamond team isn't bad at all

A tad unrelated, but am i the only one who thinks Diamond was mad ADHD coded? Nobody ever talks about this part of the manga and I gotta know if im the only one.

That Bastiodon fight was so tense, got to love it when the ai throws though. Also im clearly just pronouncing things wrong to farm comments, 100% not on purpose or anything...
This world needs more Pokemon creators who give spotlight to the manga. How I'm just now discovering this series of videos and your channel is beyond me, as Pokespe has been a constant in my life for over a decade now. The wprld of the manga and the dexholders means so much to me that when I was younger I used to play through the games casually with their respective teams, but I never thought to do a challenge like this with them!

You are my favorite nuzlocker. It's hard to still find enjoyment in nuzlocke videos after watching so many the past 4 years, but the way you do your videos (and actually do them legit) is the best. I hope to see your channel gain 100k+ subs in the future

I know it's totally subjective but I have no clue how kid you didn't like Sinnoh -- While it wasn't my favourite, I have so many memories as a kid from the Sinnoh era, it has a special place in my heart.
My parents would only buy me the game after the prices dropped, so when Platinum was out, they got me FireRed. HGSS when BW came out, and BW when XY came out. Totally skipped over Sinnoh😭
I was the same , when I replayed it was way better
For me, was because it’s so slow lmao. I didn’t have much fun with pearl/diamond, but i did like Plantinum a bit more.

@Eclin Same. I got video games after school Friday, Saturday and til 6 on Sunday most of the year, so the slowness was a huge downside.

Oh I just finished that arc on the manga yesterday! Even the HGSS chapters. So far it has been my favorite arc, Dia is a great character, so likable.

In a realistic setting if diamond pulled up with 5 out of 6 Pokémon. Being weak to fighting I would be sick
I just realized that you could’ve made it deathless by switching in Tru on Earthquake to bait Flamethrower after, then call in Kit to hopefully take both Flamethrower and Dragon Rush for the Ice Beam OHKO and then the rest of the battle plays out exactly as before.
While I'm not too familiar with manga characters, I think an Emerald as Zinnia run would be cool. Let her actually catch Rayquaza this time.

torterra's moveset really lookin like my 7yo self's venusaur lmao. not using hm friends for sinnoh (bibarel goes crazy for those, btw) sure makes traversal.... interesting. still, glad you had a reason to give plat another honest try, these games are goated. excited to see lady plat and pearl when/if you get around to them

Btw since you enjoyed playing Platinum, do you think you can do a Nuzlocke playing as Hareta from the Pokémon Diamond and Pearl Adventures Manga? It is not the same as Pokémon Adventures: Diamond and Pearl Platinum. It’s a separate manga from the Adventure series.

I gotta say, when I was a kid, I always liked characters when they were similar to me, and since Dia loved to relax, eat, and crack jokes, he became one of my favourite Pokémon Adventures characters. 😌 P.S. There is another Sinnoh-era Pokémon manga called Diamon and Pearl Adventure. Have you read it? It would be awesome to see a run with Hareta, Mitsumi, or Jun’s teams

I still wanting the Dia's version of Torttera with special ability make razor leaf always crit like in the manga. They made Ash bond Greninja so i think it is fair game.

Why is Night Slash super effective against Rotom Wash?
Because as he states in the vid multiple times Rotom Wash doesn’t get water typing in gen 4
The type change was only added in gen V. In gen 4 he gets stat change and a move

In the 26 minutes rival battle your Rotom Wash had two items, a dark resisting berrry AND a wise lens, you are cheating and playing it cool with the video editing
