Today I challenged myself to beat Pokémon Emerald in a Hardcore Nuzlocke Challenge. As a kid, the Pokémon Adventures manga was my favorite book to borrow from the library. I decided to challenge myself by completing Pokémon Emerald using Emerald's team from his adventures, but in a Hardcore Nuzlocke Challenge.

The common theme is they all get baby pokemon in gen 4 and they're all named after emerald frontier brains.
You got it! They were really planning ahead when making Emerald's team 🤯
Another link is the 4 pokemon that was shown are used by the previous dex holders as well.
Mr Mime - Crystal
Snorlax - Red
Mantine and Sudowoodo - Gold.

28:58 I guess that thing they all have in common is that all these pokemon were owned by other manga protagonists like Snorlax that was used by Red or Sudowoodo owned by Gold
That's a really good answer! I was thinking that they all got baby Pokemon in Gen 4, so the manga may have been setting up a future plot for that. But I really like yours too!
To be fair, I think there is a thing that implied that Dia's Munchlax is the child of Red's Snorlax and Emerald's Snorlax. So the baby Pokémon thing still holds weight. @@magnuspkmn
The only frontier brains I really remembered were Noland and Brandon. The Anime battles were awesome! Not only did Ash get to battle legendaries, but we also got the Kanto Four back together because of it.
Love that you are still continue the pokemon manga character pokemon teams, it’s always fun even for ourself doing in our game time. Every pokemon manga fans LOVE THIS!

The RSE manga is the only arc I haven't read, so learning about Emerald for the first time (in the last few years) was really interesting!
BTW The nickname theme is The Frontier Brains in Emerald (I thought they were the same in Platinum)
Hey man ! Another great video. However, I kinda miss the memes and other skits inserts we got in your first challenges, I feel like you used to put a lot more before and I thought it added something. Of course, I know you don't decide when inspiration strikes, but I wanted to let you know that we (or at least *i*) enjoyed it, just in case you cut down on them because you thought it was annoying or something. Keep up the good work!
I appreciate the feedback, that's definitely something that I was thinking a lot about. I remember lots of people saying those memes mixed w nuzlockes was a breath of fresh air. I plan to include more of them going forward just as long as they don't feel forced

I know you were going for "they all get babies" next gen, but you could also go for "They all get a new form (pre-evo/evo) on their team

@@magnuspkmn Yeah I can tell you are having fun with this, but it is a real pain to do a nuzlocke with Battle Frontier, especially because you have to do it over and over again and because of this, A death could be coming any second. I had to turn off the Nuzlocke rule when I'm trying to get the gold because I just died too much

I wish there was an emerald rom hack where you can play as emerald’s sprite.
Ummm, since Emerald has access to Kris' entire roster (who captured all regular Pokemon in all three regions) couldn't you have done a normal hardcore nuzlocke and then build Emeralds true team in the Battle Frontier? He didn't even use it outside the palace and tower.
While the sudowoodo strat worked well i say sense you get the old rod in Defward and sense its your only water encounter id say you should have been able to get Mantine
If I recall right... all the Pokémon are named after characters from the anime series that don't appear in the games.
Finally caught up phew now then...
at about 7:00 its really frustrating to see that you hardly weakened sudowoodo at all each time but idk the damage range for your absorbs on it

I had Giga Drain for Sceptile, and I had thought about Thunderbolt for Snorlax, but I already had 4 moves and also Shock Wave on Mr. Mime for all the Double Team spammers

Emerald is definetly one of my least liked dexholders, he feels like a character of the day from the anime, not a main character, maybe one that stays for two episodes

So why didn’t you just teach Spenser Rock tomb? It has better accuracy than rock throw Plus you have a higher chance of lowering speed or better yet swop out Noland and Spenser between May starter?
Rock Throw is 90% and Rock Tomb is 80%. Both are 50BP so you are trading accuracy for the speed drop. Rock Tomb is only 95% after X&Y
