Thank you. I’m currently working out a shampoo bar recipe. I’ve wanted to make one for a long time because I use a solid shampoo bar and they can get expensive! Lye is a natural product derived from wood ash. However a properly made bar of soap has no lye in it. It’s used as a catalyst for the chemical reaction that creates saponification.

Thank you! I buy coconut oil wherever I can get it cheaply. It doesn’t even need to be the best quality for so baking. The one I used in the video I bought at Costco. But that’s not the least expensive option, it’s what I could get quickly at the time. Usually I’ll order mine online in a 5 gallon bucket! And it lasts for years.
