Fathers and Sons | The Case of Trey Zwicker

- čas přidán 17. 08. 2020
- Trey Zwicker lived in Louisville in 2012. When something happened to him the investigation began, and over time both Trey Zwicker's stepfather, Josh Gouker, and his stepbrother, Josh Young, would claim responsibility. But were they covering for each other, and what really happened to Trey Zwicker?

"Because I am a Liar, I have been lying the whole time.." Probably the only true thing he has said.
But believe me I’m telling the truth this one time 😂
So crazy how many pos there really is.
Still much more Good than bad but there’d plenty of those pos that as in power positions so they get away with it.
When you say that the most decent thing you have done for your kid in life is to take the blame for a murder. Good grief.
@Philip Tucker Well, imo his parents screwed him up long before this incident. You're not born a screw up, it's all about how you're raised and the community around you. He was let down years ago. It's just a horrible story. No one is a winner here.
Right? Like, "He's just a kid! He can't go to prison for life before he even has a chance to commit a life of crime! Have a heart!" 🥺
@@skyvision7363 This CZcams channel is chocked full of stories of people who came from a good upbringing and lived in nice communities but still committed horrible crimes. Some people are born with it.
I love my kids but I'd have to think that one over for awhile.I can't think of anything more decent than taking the fall for your loved one. Life in prison is no walk in the park even for a jailbird. People get older and grow out of criminality many times.
@@Cautionary_Tale_Harris BTK's daughter thought she had a good upbringing. My point is - How many times haven't we heard about these "good upbringings"? Went to church blah blah..

So where do you all work where you can binge watch CZcams? Do you get paid? Are there any openings?
Who would have thought that releasing a violent criminal a dozen times back on the streets and then giving him custody of his son would be a bad idea? Hmmm
I'd like to see these judges and parole board members start having to answer to all the lives they helped end by putting people like this back on the streets only to kill someone.
@Cynthia Good idea!! Instead of not caring since most probably live in nice gated communities, let them live with them and see if they are still so quick to set them free.
Yuibot they don't care and The judicial system is just as crooked as those two... That's like the blind leading the blind... We just need to bring back street justice that's the only thing that really works not judicial justice, that's way too compromised at this point in time...

"My poor 15 y/o son facing life in prison"
Tell me again how old trey was when he was murdered ?
I mean to be fair in the context of the plea deal, innocent people ask for them all the time haha, the legal system eats people alive and a shit ton of people ask for plea deals instead of facing a long drawn out expensive court case, do some jail time and accept a plea even if they're innocent
Our system is kind of fucked, it's your only option unless you're rich
@@KaladinVegapunk finally I've come across someone in these comment sections with both common sense AND empathy. And then he speaks as though it all should make sense. Like, "of course this is the way it is now. Anyone would know it."
The way the father acted on the stand at his son's court hearing really makes me think he was taking the fall for his son..

I live in Louisville. This happened within miles of where I grew up. It was devastating and an absolute shit show. Young was on the news all the time noticeably on drugs, acting a fool, getting arrested, and never making any sense when he spoke. The blame was constantly shifting back and forth between him and the father. Literally, him on the news confessing to doing it and bragging that there was nothing they could do about it now because he had been acquitted. It went back and forth so often, you couldn't have kept count. I think that was the plan the whole time. But they were dumb to think he'd be released from prison as soon as Young confessed to acting alone. It's obvious they both did it....just don't know if they were together during the killing or Gouker went to do other things for an alibi while Young actually killed Trey. Also, maybe not so much in Louisville, but the rest of Kentucky does live up to all the crazy clichés. We DO wear shoes, but the cousin thing is 100% real. If you're not in cahoots with your cousin, you know someone that is! It's unbelievable! 🤢🤮
I had a relative who got divorced because his spouse wanted to date her cousin. This is where I do the whole body shiver.
I remember from long time ago The Hillbillies tv series. Does this kind of people really exist?? Jeez what a morons…

In my opinion Josh Young, the son, did it. What a waste to take the blame for your son and then he, Josh, is turning into an even worse version of his dad. R.I.P. Trey.
Man, I have watched so many of these videos and feel blessed to have a normal, hard working family who treats others with love and respect.
Me too man!
This is a perfect example of how your actions affect who your children become
Amen
@island mike I'm not blaming all parents. I think you misunderstood what I was saying or maybe I didn't say it correctly. I personally know many people who are amazing parents and their kids have issues, but this case is different and it's clear the dad had a major influence on the child. In no way was I saying that if a kid has a problem it's because of bad parenting. I meant that your actions teach your kids more than anything you will ever say to them. You can talk till you're blue in the face, telling your kid right from wrong, but if you're not living that your words are a waste of breath. Lecturing means little, being a good role model means everything. This boy was doing fine until his dad got out of jail and started being a terrible role model, that's all it took. If you're a bad person and your kids see that you're doing them a terrible disservice and this case is a perfect example of that. Lead by example
@island mike and not once did I excuse this kids actions. His dad was a terrible person and exposed his son to that. He's an adult now, the damage has been done and he should pay for the things he's done

R u a time traveler?
I think the dad encouraged the son to do it. When the son was asked if his dad put him up to it he said “absolutely not. If anything, he would have instructed me to never do that”. Statement analysis would have several red flags with this; its a yes or no answer but he feels the need to qualify and convince. The dad’s attitude in court when his son is on trial is very flippant, and his body and verbal language (to me) suggests that he is NOT the killer but is just taking the blame.

I had a Welsh friend years ago whom I met while an exchange student in the UK who later became a highly regarded industrial designer. A few years ago I did an internet search just to see if I could find out what happened to him in the intervening decades. The wiki was quite extensive (because of his well-known design work) and there in the personal life section it mentioned that his parents were first cousins. In the US, it's interesting that states that are stereotyped as "kissing cousins" states prohibit marriage between first cousins (such as Alabama and Kentucky, for instance) while states that you would think would prohibit it, in fact, don't (it's legal for first cousins to marry in California, Hawaii, and Connecticut, for instance).

I think Josh Young killed Trey all by himself. I'm guessing Josh Young was jealous of Trey.
That's what I was thinking. Sounded like Trey was a good kid, good student. Criminals don't like that type and are probably jealous of their smarts.
Totally. Dumbass Trey should've chosen to stay with his Dad instead of his mother who married Josh a crazy criminal with a kid who'd been in foster care until he was 15.
@Jeffronimo Gothlay... You've got to admit that Mike told the story in a certain way which implied that Josh Young lived with the foster family for quite some time, e.g. mentioning that they got along real well. I had my doubts about that - he chose to live with his father and Amanda instead of staying with the foster family and when he had to go back to them, he promptly ran away.
He did. I’m from the Louisville area and I’ve always thought that. His dad took the blame for whatever reason
I think if the dad did it then there would be more evidence of an adult hanging around the school yard
The way the father can't settle on a reason and was combative when questioned at his son's trial makes me think he's covering for the kid. Now his son can't be charged again so he takes it back. The double jeopardy law needs to be revised to allow for recharging in the case of new evidence. Both father and son are toxic to society.
I agree. The son did it. And yeah, double jeopardy should be revised.
You say that until a local police department decides they dont like you and you spend the rest of your innocent life in prison while they try to present their new evidence over and over again. It's one protection against a lot of dangerous police and their harassment. How many times of trials with "new" evidence would there be? I wish you could come out of jail and have another trial for new evidence tho...
That gag cut made my whole week 😂

He is trying so hard to get rid of his guilt, if he can feel guilt, and that is the only thing he could come up with?!! He could have taught his son to play catch, work on cars, or go fishing 🎣 He decided to teach his son to lie, cheat, steal and kill! That is what makes this whole situation completely pathetic 🙄 He should have left his son to be raised in the foster home he was doing so well in! Then, when he was an adult, he could have spent time with him. He could have explained to him that he doesn't want him son to live his life as he did! Actually, the really sad part is, a young boy was murdered for nothing 😢 And, his family has to deal with it!
@@noneofyourbusiness302 Yup. The father is a selfish pos.
I think she was more referring to the fact that he had sacrificed his own life and put his son first. Of course the reasoning and outcome can be argued but the root of it all, in the grand scheme of things, truly is the most “decent” thing in HIS life, he’s ever done.
Until you’re in a position like his, I don’t know you can truly say what you’d do. The love for a child is incredibly strong. That’s not a healthy living situation for an infant. Focus on the people who were living and murdered rather than.. a woman making a difficult but reasonable choice.
I was a freshman in high school when the news broke in our city, most of us believe josh actually killed him but the father is taking the blame so his son
Gossip goes around about Josh in school? You kids know him better..... he looks like trouble? Did the police ever ask about him?
Yep same. I remember that a lot of reports back then suspected the son.
Josh young admitted it to the news a few years ago that he did do it . Which we all knew .
Thanks for sharing! It’s cool when someone that knows about the case shares some insider info
They should all be in jail on the grounds of stupidity.

“I killed him for her killing one of mine. That’s what they would have done in the Old Testament.” They also didn’t look too kindly of adulterers or murderers, but you can ignore those sins if you really feel like it.
Well if he had actually read the Old Testament, specifically Exodus 21:22-25, he’d realize that a miscarriage brought about by a man’s violent actions (the closest thing comparable to abortion in the Bible), the prescribed Old Testament punishment is...a fine. Only if he harms or kills the woman is eye for and eye invoked.
The father is completely ignorant, so obvious by his verbal testimony. I’m sorry, but that woman that terminated her pregnancies I’m she knew what a POS he was, and what a horrible life those poor children would have had. Such a sad case.
@Maiku X I don't exactly agree with the word inept, it was just created out of human ignorance.

While Gouker is a piece of crap, I like how salty he gets on the stand. He's already got life, so what's the judge going to do for him swearing like a sailor? Hold him in contempt of court?
Definitely feel like that son was guilty and the father was taking the fall. If it’s true, he’ll kill again unfortunately and then everyone will be back in court.
Probably. Especially if what he said about doing it on a whim because he didn't like the kid was true.
Maybe he'll kill someone while he's in prison and never get out?
The son apparently admitted to it.
I agree.
I definitely think that he is going to end up in prison for murder at some point anyway.
His dad might as well have let him go to prison for Trey's murder because it would have eventually saved someone else's life.
@@fuzzamajumula he won't kill anyone in prison. He's about 100 pounds, he's getting ran through. That little boy is a straight up victim in prison on a daily

Plenty of them around. You need to be more specific. But if you're talking about Watts, then I'm not seeing the relevance.

5 minutes in I'm so confused I had to start over..lol
So the party of the first part, Josh Gouker, had a kid, party of the second part, Josh Young, one of the two of whom killed party of the third part, Trey Zwicker, who was the child of party of the fourth part, Amanda Zwicker, who was seeing party of the first part. When party of the first part butt dialed party of the fourth part she overheard party of the first part trash talking her with party of the fifth part, cousin of party of the first part, who was riding party of the first part. Party of the fourth part was pregnant with party of the first part's child, so she decided to abort the pregnancy. Party of the third part is found dead shortly thereafter, and police come looking for parties of the first and second part, who both abscond to Alabama with a party of the sixth part who quickly becomes irrelevant when she admits she knew the party of the first part and had a bit of a relationship with him. Party of the second part is viewed by police as the murderer, but party of the first part confesses and is convicted of killing party of the third part. Party of the second part is subsequently found not guilty of first degree murder in a separate trial of killing party of the third part. Party of the first part then attempts to retract admission of guilt, claiming he only did so to spare his son, party of the second part, from a life in prison sentence. Judge wags finger at party of the first part and says 'you've lied, you've lied about lying, you're claiming to now tell the truth about lies, and lying, which looks like lying about telling the truth before, which you now claim was a lie, which the jury believed as the truth." The party of the second part writes a letter explaining how and why he killed the party of the third part, which surprisingly matches the story told by the party of the fifth part, the cousin of the party of the first part. For now the party of the second part is stuck getting in and out of jail in an early life that mirrors that of his father, party of the first part.
Did that make sense? Because writing it helped me figure out how everyone fit (different from the cousins fitting) together.

"If anything, my father would have said not to kill...." Because he was such a good roll model, huh?
So he killed his stepbrother because he was a tattletale and he didn't like him because of that. We all have those siblings who tattletale but we don't kill them.
he said he killed his stepbrother for snitching on him to the cops but wouldn’t cops have proof of that? and that would’ve been enough proof that he had a motive

I was the tattletale! My life was threatened by my siblings many times. 😂😂
Yeah but most of us got brought up in a decent home with decent parents. When you go exposed to crime as much as he did by his father, that's the kind of thoughts you can arrive to. Crime for him was what was normal and what he looked up to.

Cousin Day, maybe.... Or just Family Day?!?
I was, unfortunately, in Louisville Metro Corrections (jail) at the same time as Josh Young was in there and IN THE SAME ROOM. It was when he stole some girl's car, well after the murder. The punk would not stop talking and everything he said was a boast to prove how bad he was to these grown men convicts. It was sad and really fucking annoying. It was a holding cell, about thirty of us in there. And his cot was two away from mine. I just wanted to sleep until I could get out but, no, he ran his mouth NONSTOP. I finally got out after three days. Seemed like three years.
He was a meth fiend and was probably high AF.

You can’t give that dude credit for taking a fall for his kid. That’s actually the worst thing to have done. It takes away the kids ability to know right from wrong.
Kinda pains my heart the dad took the fall & then the son just is in && out of jail. What a waste. But the dad should’ve known this boy was no good when he murdered someone at 14
Its hardly a surprise when you look at his dad. He may not have murdered Trey but he was hardly a good influence.
Josh Young didn’t have a chance at a good life with a dad like that. The dad should have left Josh with his foster family abs all of this tragedy would have been avoided.
I think it’s safe to say the whole lot of them are “ no good “ the writing was on the wall.
The son was besotted by his father and wanted to be just like him. It's a absolute shame that the state took him out of the stable foster family situation he'd been put in and returned him to the no-good dad at an age when he was most likely to identify with the dad and seek out the dad's approval through being like him.
