  • Trey Zwicker lived in Louisville in 2012. When something happened to him the investigation began, and over time both Trey Zwicker's stepfather, Josh Gouker, and his stepbrother, Josh Young, would claim responsibility. But were they covering for each other, and what really happened to Trey Zwicker?

I live in Louisville. This happened within miles of where I grew up. It was devastating and an absolute shit show. Young was on the news all the time noticeably on drugs, acting a fool, getting arrested, and never making any sense when he spoke. The blame was constantly shifting back and forth between him and the father. Literally, him on the news confessing to doing it and bragging that there was nothing they could do about it now because he had been acquitted. It went back and forth so often, you couldn't have kept count. I think that was the plan the whole time. But they were dumb to think he'd be released from prison as soon as Young confessed to acting alone. It's obvious they both did it....just don't know if they were together during the killing or Gouker went to do other things for an alibi while Young actually killed Trey. Also, maybe not so much in Louisville, but the rest of Kentucky does live up to all the crazy clichés. We DO wear shoes, but the cousin thing is 100% real. If you're not in cahoots with your cousin, you know someone that is! It's unbelievable! 🤢🤮

@island mike I'm not blaming all parents. I think you misunderstood what I was saying or maybe I didn't say it correctly. I personally know many people who are amazing parents and their kids have issues, but this case is different and it's clear the dad had a major influence on the child. In no way was I saying that if a kid has a problem it's because of bad parenting. I meant that your actions teach your kids more than anything you will ever say to them. You can talk till you're blue in the face, telling your kid right from wrong, but if you're not living that your words are a waste of breath. Lecturing means little, being a good role model means everything. This boy was doing fine until his dad got out of jail and started being a terrible role model, that's all it took. If you're a bad person and your kids see that you're doing them a terrible disservice and this case is a perfect example of that. Lead by example

Statement analysis would have several red flags with this; its a yes or no answer but he feels the need to qualify and convince. A few years ago I did an internet search just to see if I could find out what happened to him in the intervening decades. The wiki was quite extensive (because of his well-known design work) and there in the personal life section it mentioned that his parents were first cousins. In the US, it's interesting that states that are stereotyped as "kissing cousins" states prohibit marriage between first cousins (such as Alabama and Kentucky, for instance) while states that you would think would prohibit it, in fact, don't (it's legal for first cousins to marry in California, Hawaii, and Connecticut, for instance).

It was a plan to keep them both out of jail. Gouker would plead guilty, Josh would get acquitted, and then they would say Josh killed Trey. The state wouldn’t be able to charge Josh for the murder again, and they thought Gouker would be let out of jail. But, part of the plea deal Gouker agreed to was he could not file an appeal.

So the party of the first part, Josh Gouker, had a kid, party of the second part, Josh Young, one of the two of whom killed party of the third part, Trey Zwicker, who was the child of party of the fourth part, Amanda Zwicker, who was seeing party of the first part. When party of the first part butt dialed party of the fourth part she overheard party of the first part trash talking her with party of the fifth part, cousin of party of the first part, who was riding party of the first part. Party of the fourth part was pregnant with party of the first part's child, so she decided to abort the pregnancy. Party of the third part is found dead shortly thereafter, and police come looking for parties of the first and second part, who both abscond to Alabama with a party of the sixth part who quickly becomes irrelevant when she admits she knew the party of the first part and had a bit of a relationship with him. Party of the second part is viewed by police as the murderer, but party of the first part confesses and is convicted of killing party of the third part. Party of the second part is subsequently found not guilty of first degree murder in a separate trial of killing party of the third part. Party of the first part then attempts to retract admission of guilt, claiming he only did so to spare his son, party of the second part, from a life in prison sentence. Judge wags finger at party of the first part and says 'you've lied, you've lied about lying, you're claiming to now tell the truth about lies, and lying, which looks like lying about telling the truth before, which you now claim was a lie, which the jury believed as the truth." The party of the second part writes a letter explaining how and why he killed the party of the third part, which surprisingly matches the story told by the party of the fifth part, the cousin of the party of the first part. For now the party of the second part is stuck getting in and out of jail in an early life that mirrors that of his father, party of the first part.
Did that make sense? Because writing it helped me figure out how everyone fit (different from the cousins fitting) together.
