It’s foolish bravery. Remco forgot they lost him on the last demarrage. He himself would have been victim. And jonas wasn’t on his own bike, so he had more fear for having a flat tyre… (he had two : bike swap & slow flat at the end).

You wouldn’t be a GC rider if you thought otherwise as you have to descend at full speed, not just go through the motions.
I think it’s more down to him knowing his body type suits the high mountains so he’d rather ride a stage like that instead. Riders with a bigger body and more absolutely power would be the other way around. It doesn’t make one right and other wrong, but to argue against it on safety grounds with what they do on a mountain stage is disingenuous.

The big mountain-stages in high altitude. Smart racing from Visma and Jonas. Doesn't always make for the most entertaining racing but he gives himself the best chance to win.

Kudos to Jonas for his final comments there. Seems like he has his head screwed on straight and his priorities right. I hope that makes him even better in the sport, but it will for sure make him better as a father and as a human being.

It’s exactly the reason why Vingegaard has beaten Pogacar in the past, and why he maybe will win also win this year: because he is racing smart! Attacking all the time (like Pogacar and Remco like to do) is of course exciting and entertaining for us, but it also means wasting much energy, and in the TdF they probably will pay for that with a bad day. Vingegaard (with a very strong team) and Roglic (with a much much weaker team) raced this stage smart!

I agree, although Pog has been more disciplined so far.
My guess is Pogacar tries to blow Vinegaard up on Wednesday to strike a decisive blow.

Yeah Remco, why don't you say to the press that you and Pog had a setup for Jonas? Previously to that moment your team radio told you and your partners to remember that Jonas still wasn't in his bike. That's playing really fair, right? Certainly it takes some balls to try to blowout a rider taking him into a trap.

Well said. I think Tadej & Remco are planning on working together to break & drop Jonas because he seems to be their biggest scare at the TDF. I think they are surprised by his performance each day after the kind of crash he had months ago. Go Jonas goooooo #TVL

Yeah, When Vingeggard start to eat Remco up on the mountain is Remco gonna pull for him or is he gonna have any balls to follow. Remco, has always had a big mouth and this comment towards Vingeggard is not gonna age well for him.
