      I'm not sure what link you need? I mentioned every material that I used but I didn't buy any of that online. For this video I found all in my local stores: fishing rod stand, heat shrink tubes... Those are common tools and materials and you can find it in most of hardware stores. Also, it's not so practical to put links in youtube video, because links for certain things in online shops can change after short time and I would have to check links in my videos every day. I always write names of tools and materials and that is most important. When you know names you can easy find something.

    I know I'm a little late to the party but anyway...where can i get the materials used for the tires?..loved the video btw really helpful info.!

    • @WhattoRepair
      @WhattoRepair  Před 2 lety +1

      You are not late, people will always make wheels and there is always somebody who is a beginner. I used heat shrink for tires. Heat shrink is tube that shrinks when exposed to heat. It starts to shrink on temperature around 90°C or 194°F. It's mostly used to protect cables and wires. You put piece of heat shrink tube over the damaged part of the cable, or over the cable without insulation, then expose heat shrink tube to heat source, heat gun or simple lighter. After that heat shrink tube will form pretty strong insulation. So try to search heat shrink tubes in some hardware store, or store with electric materials, electric instalations for homes, electronic stores etc. I don't know where you live, you can probably find it online, bit its very cheap, cheaper than shipping, so I think its better to buy it in some local store.

    • @WhattoRepair
      @WhattoRepair  Před rokem

      Yes, you can use rubber pen grip if size is correct and if you like how it looks. I have a plan to make another video about making custom off road wheels with rubber pen grip.

  • @picklesandcheescurdswithgu8255

    Hello I know I’m late but where is a place I could buy these materials recently I have gotten into Modding Hot Wheels so if you could tell that would be great. Besides that great video and channel and you’ve earned a new Sub

    • @WhattoRepair
      @WhattoRepair  Před rokem

      Sorry for my late answer. When you start to customise diecast cars or start any modeling hobby, you need to look objects around you with "different eyes". You will find materials everywhere around you. There is no place where you can buy everything you need. I find stuff in various type of stores, online, on flea markets, around my house, in garden or park... Those aluminium tubes are fishing rod stands, I found them in local chinese store, but you can buy them on ebay, amazon or aliexpress or you can search something similar. Heat-shrink tubes are also from local store with electronic equipment, they are used for electric wire insulating. Scotch brite - from local paint store. Tell me what else you want to know. It was hardest to find aluminium tubes that match wheel radius. In fact, I was walking beside them in store almost every day, but I didn't noticed them until one day.

    Really terrific video sir, very helpful and with enough info that pretry much anyone can follow and repeat. Thank you very much for this and explaining the materials you used.
    I have been wanting to do this myself, but have not been able to find the right size of aluminum tubing as of yet. I had not thought of using a fishing rod holder, I am sure if I look closer at the camping section of my local stores I should be able to find something similar to use. Very cool! 👍👍

    • @WhattoRepair
      @WhattoRepair  Před 2 lety

      That depends for which model you are using wheels. This is only principe how to make wheels. If you want to make it smaller, use smaller pipe and smaller wheels.

    There too big for regular cars, its not worth all the other work you would have to do to make them fit, you Cant lower a car, would have to grind wheel well back just like he had to do to the truck. Okay but not worth the hassle.

    • @WhattoRepair
      @WhattoRepair  Před 2 lety

      My friend, this is hobby, people are customising cars because they enjoy doing this. Nobody is looking is some work worth doing it, people are doing this because they love making something.
      Wheels are not so big, they are medium size, there are bigger stock wheels. Even if they are too big for some cars, this is only example how to do this. If you want smaller wheels, then use smaller wheels and smaller tube. If you want bigger wheels use bigger materials. It depends what you want to do. Nothing in this video is grinded on trucks, but there isn't anything bad if you grind or cut something to fit your needs. And you can lower a car, you can even make it higher, make suspension or pretty much everything you can imagine, depends on your inspiration. And depends are you looking this as a hobby or some profitable job so you must calculate is something worth to spend time on.
