  • Battery powered leaf blowers have come a long way over the years and they are stronger now more than ever, totally on par with gas powered blowers that most people have experience with. In this video I put five of the best battery powered leaf blowers side-by-side and compared them all.
    For more data and comparison of these blowers to others on the market see this post over on my site: turfmechanic.com/battery-blow...

    In the video I stated my favorite blowers were the EGO 650, the Greenworks Pro 80V, and the Toro 60V. You can see links to those blowers below.

    I was looking for a lightweight blower for my deck. czcams.com/users/postUgkxgioZQl3J5wPGAeDINzbieKbT5qomSEx3 There are some huge trees around my house and the leaves and pods drop all over my deck. Having to move furniture around to sweep has become too big a chore. This blower was the answer. It is light enough for this 70yr old lady and powerful enough to blow all the tree droppings off my rather large deck. Thank you B&D. Be aware the cord is not included. I use a 3 prong outdoor cord 25' cord for my 12' x 20' deck. The cord retainer works very well, but don't try to pass the plug through it. That is NOT how it works. You just have to loop the cord and it works great. One of my best purchases. Very happy.

    I found on the EGO 650cfm that no added tapered tip seems to be the strongest power on it, I’ve tried all three ways and it’s noticeably better removing the tapered tip. I like the toro too, would be my next pick..as they have other battery products that are worth diving into like snowblower or recycler mower

    • @TurfMechanic
      @TurfMechanic  Před 3 lety

      The tapered tip for sure cuts power, I wouldn't say by a ton but it's just physics. With the taper the air flows out and has to overcome friction and whatnot to get through a smaller hole, this cuts down air flow and speed most likely by a bit, The Toro tube is consistently wide so maybe this is why it's Turbo button puts the most force on my scale of all the battery blowers I've tried.

    • @chrisgilligan4968
      @chrisgilligan4968 Před 2 lety

      @@TurfMechanic Physics would say that the air pressure would be higher coming out of a smaller opening assuming that the motor can move the same amount of air regardless of the size of the opening.
      Not for nothing, but it would have been nice to see a demonstration showing that the Toro was the significantly more powerful blower, for example...20 minutes of you talking without 1 display of how the tools work isn't an especially meaningful review.

    I think these blowers are better tested with the battery that comes along with them..Most of the blowers blow harder with the heavier, more expensive lawn mower battery. .Also, some blowers don't come with a concentrator nozzle like the Greenworks.That is a consideration for some jobs.

    • @TurfMechanic
      @TurfMechanic  Před 3 lety +4

      I have not tested battery life, never actually run any of my blowers for long enough to discharge their batteries completely. As for your ego v Toro question, I think the ego 650 blower is more comfortable to use and its the one I would buy again if I were forced to only own one blower but the Toro blower is a bit cheaper and it's turbo speed is stronger in my scale testing. If maximum power or lower price is more important then go for the Toro, if comfortable use is more important then I'd suggest the Ego 650.

    I'll be honest with you you haven't used the tool enough to learn how to operate it.
    the Greenworks pro has a safety feature that is kind of like a child safety feature prevents the tool from being turned off and on too frequently probably helped save the motors.
    Once the blower is turned on or engaged then you can release the handle to the low position but trying to start it in the low position will not work very well

That being said, I’m already in the Milwaukee platform and bought the M18 FUEL blower this past week online for $99 on the Home Depot website. I bought the Ego and frankly, wasn't that impressed with it. I'm a widow now and I was looking for something well-built, that wouldn't have to be dragged down to the shop for repairs every other week, so basically, one of the important issues for me, was the warranty. Back to the Ego, I bought it because of all the 5 star reviews, not really doing my homework. Now, it's ok, I don't find it outstanding as far as power. I bought it to clear leaves under my pool cover, around the edges of the cover, and also to blow leaves off my Sunbrella awning , to avoid staining the fabric. I felt like I was going up the ladder carrying my VW Bug, it was so heavy, even with the strap, I could barely make it past the 2nd step on the ladder without getting a hernia. I ended up giving it away, one, because of the weight and secondly, I've had better blowers in the past. I have a Toro electric blower that would blow the paint off your car, but let's face it, dragging a 50 ft or 100 ft cord around a pool, isn't easy. Could you possibly help me find something light weight that you think does a decent job? I've been reading and reading and now more confused than ever.

    • @TurfMechanic
      @TurfMechanic  Před 2 lety

      Man, good question and it's probably something a lot of people want. These things aren't heavy but when you use them for more than a couple minutes they still put a strain on our arm. You could look into backpack blowers, I think there are a few battery options on the market but I haven't tried them. That makes carrying them easier. For handhelds go with the smaller battery options. I haven't tried the HART battery blowers they sell at Walmart but they seem like decent options due to the physically small battery. You'd still have to look up the weight and compare though.

    It would have been helpful to see them all actually blow something, they are after all blowers. Like a group of ping pong ball or tennis balls or baseballs OR basketball balls, maybe even a pile of leaves.
    You only spoke to the comfort of use, slow speed demo and not full speed runs to see who runs the longest or who pushes the balls the furthers means that this was frankly a lip service video. I don’t give bad reviews like this but you literally put Zero effort into the demo other than low speed and turbo buttons, you moved more air than the blowers did. Hopefully you will take this as constructive criticism and not just criticism for the sake of criticizing. Look up Farm Project for a channel to mimic.

    • @TurfMechanic
      @TurfMechanic  Před 2 lety

      I was pretty new to making videos when this was made almost two years ago. I've learned a lot along the way. I personally used all of these units and did my own testing on them at the time and ended up making a lip-service video. If I were to do this again the video would be much different...but I don't like some of the gimmicky tests people do for things like showing tests out. In the end usability matters most to people when the difference in strength can only be showed with a ping pong ball traveling a few extra feet. I'd rather use a slightly less powerful unit if it's more comfortable to use. Anyway, I won't be making new comparisons like this for some time because I don't see a lot of worth in them any more. Most high end battery blowers are good enough, the choice really comes down to personal factors like what other equipment will you use in the same battery line and how comfortable they are which some people don't like to see in reviews. Thanks for your comments, no hard feelings, my channel is simply a progession in my abilities to present valuable information. What I said however is not something I'll quickly apologize for. ✌️
