Handheld Blower Ego v. Echo v. Stihl v. Kobalt

  • In this video I test and compare the EGO 56v 650 CFM blower the Stihl BG86 blower, the Kobalt 24v blower, and the ECHO CPLB 58V 550 CFM blower. I think the results will possibly surprise you.
    The reason I wanted to test these blowers in comparison is because I wanted something lightweight and easy to use for blowing grass clippings off sidewalks and driveways at my lawn mowing customer properties. The backpack blower is heavy and just annoying to use on hot summer days and I’m sure I’m not the only person to think this!
    In the end I decided that these blowers are just too slow and went back to using my echo pb-770 as a professional business I just don’t have the time to waste on job sites.

    I purchased a 765 cfm Ego blower used one time and became a believer it comes with the spread nosel and shoulder strap which I don't use. Immediately sold my Stihl blower and going to sell my Honda mower never thought I would ditch gas but the blower alone pushed me to go electric.

      Same here. I never have to use the turbo so, I get a long battery life out of that 5.0AH battery. I use the strap on my 16" weedeater! makes that thing so much more comfortable.

    Enjoyed the video, but I was most impressed with the little Kobalt blower. I expected the other blowers to perform well and they did. But the performance and light weight of the Kobalt is what got my attention. I understand that there is a new more powerful Gen 2 version out now, and I think I will try one of the Gen 2 versions as I have an 8 amp Kobalt battery and I only maintain my yard and my daughters yard. Thanks Super green for the Video.

    I've had the echo shown here.. which was the most powerful battery blower I'd seen up until that point..I then bought the ego 650 which was slightly better and now the 765 which is better but not substantially better than the 650.. so now I use the 765 and 650 together .. keep in mind the small tips come off for the most cfms .. together these blowers are all you'll ever need I move piles of wet leaves.. big piles with the 2 together.. on turbo..I have 2 x7.5 aH batteries from my snow blower and 2x 5 aH batteries that came with the blowers and I did my yard with about 15 very tall maple trees and about 10 smaller maples and beech trees.. that seemed to drop all the leaves in a week this year.

      I saw your short video on that snapper weed trimmer and decided to post this. Honestly I don’t think the video turned out that well but maybe it will be a small help to someone. That EGO costs $299 from Lowe’s and comes with 5ah battery and charger which is a great price and the Stihl BG86 CE cost $190 from my dealer. They were both super easy to use. One you have to wait till it charges but the other takes mix fuel. I think the electric is the future but that stihl 86 captured my love. Thanks for your comment. 👍🏻👍🏻

    *Not a lawn service, but I mow my yard A LOT.* I've just called time of death on my Husky 125B blower, and I'm looking at getting the Ego 765CFM blower. I'm with you, that as long as you have mixed fuel, the gas will run all day. I used my 125B for blowing off my mowers, sidewalk, driveway, and garage. I also have a Husky 570BTS backpack blower for the heavy lifting and leaf cleanup. I am a fan of 2-strokes and particularly Husqvarna, but for a "mop-up" handheld blower (and one that my wife can easily use), that Ego is very attractive. Also considering a battery hedge trimmer (after cutting my extension cord with the plug-in), and with Ego having their own trimmer, I like the idea of having other tools in that battery system. I love small engines and I know how to maintain them, but this battery equipment is impressive. What a time to be alive.

      I picked up a husqvarna 150BT backpack a couple weeks ago just to try it. Not bad!! It doesn’t compare to my echo 770 but it’s super lightweight! For trimmer line I have fallen in love with the echo black diamond line. That paired with the echo speed feed head have been GAME CHANGERS for me in business!! If I found a electric string trimmer that would last all day and be light as a feather I’d be a buyer I just haven’t found it yet. One more thing: I tried a Kobalt electric hedge trimmer. Dude. That DOES last all day and is super light. I’d say e are almost there with electric!!

    I'm so glad I watched this whole video because I've been agonizing for the past 2 weeks over which blower to buy for our 2½ yard. Battery vs gas vs power vs weight! Ego vs Stihl. We use a Stihl chainsaw and have had no problems, plus there's a Stihl dealer right up the road at James River Supply. Ego has great products for sure but sounds like battery charging might be an issue. We really would like to see a demonstration of the 80 volt Gen 4 Kobalt vs latest Stihl. That might be a game changer.

    @roundgraf6907 Před rokem +3

    The Ego is a great model but if you are going to rely on the "Turbo" option, then you will only have about 12 minutes on a full charge. Normal use, you have close to 50+ minutes. Depending on the size of your lawn, I think the Ego would fit the bill for most homeowners. If you are using the blower for your business or very large property, the best bet would be the Stihl. In my opinion.

    • @practicalguy973
      @practicalguy973 Před 2 lety +2

      @@supergreenlawncare That is the main issue with EGO now for me. Those new 3rd gen batteries look amazing but they are way too expensive and there is a lot of tech in them, they even go into a self discharge mode after a month and balance the cells to 30% all on their own for long term storage. For me if I pulled my blower out a month later and the full battery was 30% I would not like that. Maybe its way over complicated. I'll sacrifice a little power and get a Kobalt with $70 batteries after seeing your video for my next blower. I have a Toro plug in and the Ridgid 18v job site blower and a few 4ah batteries. It's rated for 105mph 280cfm but I want something more powerful on battery. I have blown leaves with the little job site blower in the driveway and sidewalk and its fine, it just takes 30% longer to do the same as an EGO would on dry leaves, cut grass and light dirt.

    As someone who is well invested in the "EGOsystem", you made the right choice in returning the EGO and sticking with the Stihl. E-machines are not suitable for a commercial capacity...Period. There's a reason EGO's warranty is reduced for commercial users. Run time is king and battery powered tools simply don't have the run time to handle a commercial work load. You will be cycling through these batteries quickly and having to replace them every year or two and those packs are not cheap! Stick with gas. If you're doing lawncare as a business, you will know how to maintain your tools.
    I recently got the 765 EGO blower and use my 10ah pack for it and I love it. I'm a residential user though which is whom these E-machines are perfect for.

    EGO batteries are expensive.
    Blower Lithium batteries have a lifetime that lasts approx. 1,0000 (800 - 1,200) full charges the same as cellphone lithium batteries (0% to 100% each charge).
    So if you ran the battery down to 50% everytime (not a typical reality) it could be charged back to 100% approx. 2,000 times.
    Then $100's of $$ for a spare or new battery.
