I agree, and I must have missed something because I was under the impression Aston would be using their own engines developed in collaboration with Merc but built by themselves from 2026. I'm old school - AJ V8 is what's under my bonnet and I don't care what the badge says, that's a Jag engine and that's what's supposed to be in an Aston. It's the LAW! ;o)

Welcome to the world of FI where championships are won with ..... money.
F1 doesn't give a toss about what the names or colours of the cars are, as long as they bring in money and sponsors.
Aston Martin running with a Mercedes engine is already a contradiction.
With Honda ...!!! Just goes to prove how good Honda are.

Not a big Toto fan, but he got that right about Fernando. If I were a team principal or owner, I'd want him in my car more than anyone else on the grid (or in recent history). If F1 weren't so ridiculously car-dependent, he'd have most of the records. Lance has some speed, but seems to lack judgement (probably as he allows the pressure to perform in order to "justify" his place in F1 to cause him to push too hard at times). Not a good thing at the speed of F1...

To be honest, imo, Lance has potential and really has what it takes to grow. BUT. I also think that the fact that he skipped F2 and all the hard work to get to F1 it might be the reason he doesn't 'care' for it that much. It really makes a difference when you 'get' something rather than 'earn' something. Came easy so doesn't have that weight/importance to it. Which is kinda sad, and to be honest again, it might not be Lance's fault. As a dad I know I should inspire my kids to enhance themselves through their own skills and capabilities. On the other hand, I'm not a billionaire, so wtf do I know lol

The issue isn't only fernando, but his entire career has just been average. He's only ever beaten sergey as a teammate points wise, and his teammates in total have nearly scored double the points he has. He's not like mazepin level at all, but he's extremely mediocre. Fernando is very good and kind of showing the flaws. That being said, fernando has had seasons with teammates scoring the same amount as him. 2023 was the start of the downfall since that car was fast, and while fernando was getting podiums regularely, stroll couldn't do much. There's such a huge driver market right now that the talent just seems better. This is his like 7-8th season in f1 and at this point if something were to be seen, we would've seen it.

I don't think the decision is really up to Lance. He will do whatever his father decides. He is taking a lot of abuse and would probably like to leave F1 and just go on and live the life of a fabulously wealthy son. It doesn't seem that his heart is in F1. What about Pierre Gasly in an AM? He is better than the car he has.

Stroll will always have to deal with "It's only because your daddy owns the team" no matter how good or bad he is. And sure, he's not great but is he really that terrible? He is inconsistent... so is Alex Albon. He picks and chooses which days he will follow the rules... so does KMag. He goes for low percentage overtakes presenting his team with a big repair bill... so does Danny Ric. He never takes responsibility for his cock-ups... neither does Yuki. He may or may not be the worst current driver, but if he is it's only because Grosjean has gone. He will definitely never win a race no matter what car he's in, but there are half a dozen other F1 drivers about whom you can say the same. Does he belong in F1? Probably not. Is he the ONLY F1 driver who shouldn't be there? Absolutely not.

    • @Xaver-kk8fr

Calling Yuki a "weak Japanese drive" is funny. He's a top performer this season given his car. He has consistently won the head to heads with DR3, who was supposed to come in as a team leader. He also has more points than half the field and is pretty much the sole reason VCARB is where they are in the standings at the moment.

  • @dgwachtel

Lance sometimes shows good speed and has OK finishes. Then he makes silly mistakes, appears to lose focus and performs poorly. His driving and on track judgment seems to go out the window, afterward making lame excuses for his screw ups. Being quick, minimizing mistakes and being a consistent performer all are required to be a top level driver. Sadly for him, Lance doesn't seem particularly interested in improving and it's looking like he has had enough time to but didn't bother. Dad should realize that his son will never improve and his lapses in skill and judgment pose a read danger. I think Lance should quit before he hurts himself or another driver.
    Thanks for the like!

Unfortunately Lance doesn't appear to be hungry enough to win as he knows that he has a seat for life as long as his father owns the team Lance is making stupid mistakes in his driving and appears to be most unlikeable pushing his trainer out of the way always blames others drivers when he crashed into the back of the cars Lance needs a lesson in humility
