Great thorough video, thanks
Glad it was helpful!
All the trim and moulding in my house is Red Oak & the man o'war semi gloss spar varnish really looks awesome on it, I use a air compressor & sprayer to apply at 80 psi & usually apply 3 coats, But one thing that wasn't mentioned is after the can has been opened I run the varnish thru a cheese clothe as I fill the sprayer
That Man O War is good stuff
Thank you! It was very helpful!
Glad it helped!
Are you applying spar varnish over grey paint? That will look terrible once it yellows
I’am making my granbaby a hope chest and I want something to look like glass and hold up through the years for her. Thank you 🙏
Might consider spraying lacquer instead!
@@SawsHub why should I consider spraying lacquer . Just asking why . Still learning. Thanks 🙏
@@macdaddy5802 You said "look like glass", and you're working with a wood piece that will be indoors. Lacquer produces a very shiny finish and is perfect for indoor furniture. If you spray 4-6 coats on it, it should also be very durable. Spar varnish is for outdoor pieces and isn't necessarily a shiny, "glass like" finish. Hope that helps.
@@SawsHub cool thank very much.
Thanks for the great tips! I'm building an outdoor storage chest and was wondering if you'd recommend spraying varnish on the inside as well? Or just brushing each individual piece before I put it together?
Thanks for the video. What spray tip are you using?(color/size)
IMAGINE HOW GOOD IT WOULD BE WITH A REALSPRAYER,LOL😂😂😂😂😂
When you are talking about polyurethane, is spar polyurethane the same thing as polyurethane, or what is the difference?
Generally speaking, spar urethane offers better outdoor protection and dries/cures faster than polyurethane. Somewhat similar concept to spar varnish vs varnish.
did you use a sealer before the spar varnish? what about sanding between coats? I paint exterior doors and the finish is not the best vs polyurethane. But I need the best finish in outdoors, any advice?
The spar varnish is the sealer. Yes to sanding between coats. We have tons of videos on our channel on comparing various finishes, recommend you watch them.
Ok WHY is he WASTING our Time Talking about polyurathine we want VARNISHMINFO NOT POLY!!!!!!!!
