wenn nicht nur diese hustenden Idioten! Ich verstehe nicht warum husten die?? Ich bin hundert mal in unterschiedlichen Saalen gesessen hab kein einziges Mal gehustet, weil es mir nicht danach war. Ich war mit was anderem beschäftigt und wollte mir die Oper anschauen
He is appearing in Don Carlo in February with Opera in Cinema at some local theaters. This is one of my very favorite operas and he is wonderful in the role of the king, tormented that his young wife loves his son. Try and see it! Fabulous!

@Greatpretender1 Karajan is this legendary perforance conducted the Berlinners wonderfully! Just imagine the B. P. O. as the orchestra for the performance! Not even Napoleon ever had such a luxury! The sound of this DVD is wonderful, and the Berlin Philarmonic sounds absolutely magnifenct in Salzburg Hall... Furlanetto singing is WONDERFUL!
Non ho timore di affermare che "Ella giammai m'amò" dal Don Carlo di Giuseppe Verdi è (non sia, perché sarebbe solo un mia parere ) una delle pagine più alte non solo del melodramma di Verdi, ma del melodramma tout-court.
La musica è meravigliosa , con l'assolo di violoncello che sembra piangere con Filippo II , con parole bellissime, che potrebbero entrare in qualsiasi raccolta di poesia e con una interpretazione magistrale di Ferruccio Furlanetto, che , a mio parere, accomuno al grandissimo Samuel Ramey e all'altrettanto grande Nicolai Ghiaurov. Qui l'amore è vero, profondo , come la delusione per non essere ricambiato.. La direzione di Herbert von Karajan non ha bisogno di commenti, per interpretazione , musicalità, concertazione. Che dire, se non grazie per avermi fatto piangere di nuovo!.

I've watched in Staatsoper Wien this year and he is best Filippo nowadays
What grabs me about Furlanetto here, (who was a late replacement barely having time to have a rehearsal for Jose Van Dam) is the incredible intensity and focus which radiates from his eyes. Of course then there is the instrument which is deep oaky mahagony, which still to this strips the paint off the theater walls.

You can see him in Don Carlo in February 2013 at some local theaters! (presented by Opera in Cinema). Well worth the trip, if you have to drive a distance. It's so wonderful! I'll see it again. Hope you can find it near your home. Good luck!!

Non ho fatto molti confronti, ma qui ero attentissimo, mentre con altri interpreti mi annoiavo e guardavo il contatore di youtube quanto mancasse alla conclusione. finalmente uno (Karajan) che fa la sestina in temp e non quei pazzeschi rallentandi aggiunti a fini patetici (?). peccato che non ho Kleiber, ma sono sicuro che qualche privato avrà registrato, ogni tanto compaiono chicche qui. solo così conoscerò questa aria diretta da Verdi in persona! perchè Kleiber diventa i compositori che dirige
I adore Furlanetto - a true basso. A rarity among contemporary Italians! Wish he'd have cut a CD of Verdi arias early in his career!

Totally agree for those who don't live near NYC. I heard Furlanetto in this role at the Met, and he is absolutely fabulous, great voice, great artist, and he can act well too. I even considered going to the Met again for this opera just for Furlanetto (except for I've already been to a few this year). Those who live near NYC should just go to the Met to hear his real unamplified voice.

A difficult decision for Elizabeta in this Don Carlos set-up: Carlos - Jose Carreras, before damaged voice with wrong roles (40 years old) or Filippo - Furlanetto in really good vocal form (37 years old). And then there was Rodrigo marquis Posa - Piero Cappuccilli.

poi 4:09 : mai, ripeto MAI riuscirò a capire perché TUTTI i direttori del pianeta esaguano alla velocità della luce quell'unica battuta che Verdi specificò "L-E-N-T-O"!!
1) degli 8 arpeggi questo è l'UNICO totalmente ascenente 2) armonicamente instabilissimo: una tonica ma con la settima al basso per cui in realtà tonica non è, bensì è percepita come una settima di dominante che risolve (anzi non risolve) su una dominante secondaria che a sua volta è dominate che a sua volta è dominante che a sua volta va in cadenza d'inganno prima di stabilizzarsi in fa# monire 3) a ciò si aggiunga che drammarturgicamente si passa dalla catessi allo stato vigile, per cui ci si domanderà se tutto ciò che ho appena descritto è funzionale o un semplice sghiribizzo verdiano buttato lì. Quindi quell'arpeggio per me significa stiracchiamento dei muscoli quando ci si sveglia, in ogni caso - anche qualora non lo interpretasse come uno stirarsi i muscoli per svegliarsi - si dovrebbe almeno spiegare (senza rifugiarsi nel trito, frettoloso e rinunciatario "de gustibus") perché tutti i direttori del pianeta non rispettino quell'indicazione di Verdi e che è valida SOLO per quella battuta, ben delimitata dalla corona in pausa. Non vorrei aver ragione io, proprio come accadde quando per mesi io da solo al mondo ero contro tutti i direttori del pianeta (vivi e morti) in un punto de Sacre du Printemps (lo so, è arrogante dire che tutti i direttori delpianeta sbagliano), ma la Provvidenza mi ha fatto un dono spaventoso: 5 mesi dopo questa mia denuncia mi ha fatto trovare un video in cui c'era un documentario su Stravinsky, di un'ora. La Sacre dura mezz'ora e nel documentario dedicarono solo 20 secondi. Ebbene erano i 20 secondi che mi riguardavano, non basta: telecamera puntata in primo piano su Stravinsky che dirigeva il passo....non serve che io concluda il ragionamento. (Tra parentesi: non ho vinto un bel nulla, ma la soddisfazione me la porterò sino alla tomba!). Poi c'è ancora una cosa, alla fine di quest'aria, ma si tratta di uno sbaglio di stampa, per fortuna non presente nell'edizione francese: strano che nessun regista se ne sia mai accorto.

Partitura Boosey&Hawkes codice HPS638, da pagina 137 il 5 è 3+2 e non 2+3 (naturalmente non cambia nulla se lo dirigo 2+3, l'artimetica non viene alterata, ma è più giusto 3+2); e Danse Sacrale: la volontà di S. (poi abbandonata causa imbarazzo degll'orchestra) per i violini era: accordo unisono = pizzicato vs. accordo divisi a3 = arco. Sfinito dal combattere contro violinisti eliminò tutti i pizzicati che ben si armonizzavano con oboi. Comunque, dopo aver ascoltato il Concerto Capodanno da Vienna, mi permetto di affermare che Le Sacre è molto facile mentre i valzer viennesi sono molto difficili jajaja ;)

Wann hören diese Idioten endlich auf zu husten!!?? Ich verstehe das einfach nicht!!! Ich bin tausend mal in der Oper gewesen, hab kein einziges Mal gehustet… wie kann man vor solchen Stars überhaupt husten??? Wie kann man so ungebildet sein, ja das bedarf einer großen Menge Konzentration, dass man nicht mehr weiss was man vor lauter Langweile lachen sollte !!!geht doch zu Rammstein und rockt euch dort ab! Jeder der dort ist bedarf auf jeden Fall einer ärztlichen Untersuchung !ab mit allen zum Arzt !! Schrecklich
hört verdammt noch mal zu husten auf!hört die Musik oder geht nicht kn die Oper, das zeigt nur dass dieses blöde Publikum keine Ahnung hat von der Oper und nur zum Husten da is.
