Bada Bing Bada Bang!! Mothers 2.0 is just what I was looking for. This will be my first time Claying a car in my 67 years. This looks to easy. I just have to do it.
Anyone who hasn't tried speedclay 2.0 is missing out big time. As they said, this will save time. I use it while washing the car, before rinsing off the shampoo I do a couple of passes, when the paint is smooth, then I rinse. That alone is a big plus for me. The extra drying time saved, and not having to worry about dropping it.
But, didn't they say after a car wash to rinse away any loose dirt, then lubricate and clay?
I inherited my Grandma's 04 Ford Mustang v6 and she is the original owner. It sat out in the parking lot all its life and has only 33k miles on it. Even though its low mileage it has never been cared for or washed. I replaced a lot of dry rotted parts but JUST clay bared it today with this product. It worked MIRACLES on that old Mustang. There were paint streaks that I thought the paint was going but after claying it and than putting Mother's wax on it, it shines like glass. I can't recommend this product enough. I am a weekend warrior and not a professional but this was awesome!
Thumbs up for the comment and for being a Skins fan. HTTR!
Just used the clay bar on my truck for the first time. Brake dust gone. Grime gone. Made my Silverado look brand new!! Thanks guys for recommending this product!
I repeat, do not clay in circles.. up & down or left to right!
Im 37, after 25 years this the first time im going try it looks easy. Thanks guys
Don't use the whole block at once. They would like you too so that you replace it more often. Cut the original block into 3 equal-sized pieces. Also, don't move the block in circular motions. Back and forth... Side to side.
great idea - thank you
Definitely tear in thirds. Bar maybe too small to cut into quarters but thirds and half is pretty reasonable.
I noticed the circular motions, too. I'm thinking... This is mother's... Why are they doing that?
The direction of the clay is totally up to you. Just be sure to use ample lubricant. And yes cutting the clay bar into sections is a great idea for using the clay.
That was my thought as soon as I saw him use the entire bar all at once. WTH? You tear off about 1/4th and work with that. Just another way to get you to buy more often. What a joke.
Just bought this kit yesterday at Walmart, cant wait to use it!
Forest has a great sense of humor! Keeps life in perspective.
I'm old fashioned and never use anything but the mothers gold carnuba...I bought this kit today and it really does work...amazing
Just picked up a Clay Kit today! Since I don't leave my yard on Friday the 13th I'll be trying this out tomorrow! LOL!!!
Great video guys, I'm going to definitely try out this product in my body shop!
A "footprint" on your hand. Love mixing metaphors. Thx
I got my clay kit today ,,cant wait to use it manana
I watch the video yesterday, went and bought the kit at autozone here in California it was kind a late to do it last night,
This morning (Sunday) my wife asked me to go with to the local store, I couldn’t go in the store because I forgot my mask, while sitting in my truck I remember I had the kit inside.
I started on the hood and just in a few minutes I was amazed, few minutes later I had at least 5 people around me they thought I was a sells rep for Mother’s, I told them I was regular customer trying it for the first time and they were amazed of the results as I was.
I drive a 4x4 Tacoma earth color it looks great
Awesome story! Glad you are pleased with the results
Without knowing i ourchased your clay set with the pspray and towel and the 2 clay bars early saturday and i just watched your video lol. Crazy
I love mother's products... The best there is
I love my mother too ...her clay patties are delicious.
I did the car yesterday, first clay-barring, and then applying paste wax with an orbital polisher. AMAZING result. I never imagined getting such a professional finish could be so easy. Thanks for the guidance.
Awesome to hear - Good job and that is why we are here doing these videos - You can catch us LIVE every Thursday @ 3pm est. We discuss a different detailing topic each week. hope to see you there! - Yancy
@@autogeek Good to know. Will try to be there.
Question on the speed block 2.0 - How often do you clean off the surface (i.e. folding the clay bar) and would a clean micro fibre towel work? Thanks.
Obviously CZcams knows I just bought this kit on Amazon...
Too fucking real... too fucking real
Honestly i feel like im being watched i went to Walmart and looked at this kit and bam . . Recommended
Lol
Whatever you typed in shopping sites/apps, relevant ads will show up everywhere
@@isaacmontoya5513 no joke, me too. I was looking at a brown carhartt sweater. That night ads popped up for brown carhart sweaters....put tape on mics and camera on your phone...
Great clay detail
I’ve always used hose water when claying. Never had any issues and don’t need to “save on lube”. Haha
Thank you I just used your product with fantastic results ...
Great to hear!
I'm definitely going to have to pick up that speed clay
How is it? Is it better than traditional clay bar? Also what is the life expectancy for the 2.0?
Not any better. Just costs three times as much because of the plastic handle.
I have one. It sucks. Feels like it doesn't pick up much at all.
I’ve been shopping at mothers for about 30 years. It was my go-to-store in Lodi New Jersey. They always had everything you needed. Now I’m out west, getting their product at Auto Zone. Thank you for sharing
Mothers could have moulded some thumb detents on the Speed Clay 2.0. It works very well but mine has delaminated at both ends. Some tree sap was unremovable, probably being on the roof too long.
In case you are wondering if claybar can be used in GLASS.....YES. I clay the windows, and apply JetSeal from Chemical Guys. Yes there is a video on it CZcams JetSeal on a windshield. It will also make a smooth surface to apply RainX if so desired. Remember Rain-X.....the faster you go on a rain slicked highway the better it works.
Oh sure.....speed up on a rain slicked highway! That makes zero sense.
Relax it meant to be sarcastic anyone who would take that phrase literally probably shouldn’t be out on the roads unsupervised or for that matter out in public unsupervised.
Been using Rain-X since 1980. Works best at highway speeds. Wife doesn’t like me not running wipers though. The rain runs off at speeds around Mach2! 🥰
on a real note though the aerodynamics of a newer dodge dart allow you to drive in rain with neither wipers or rain x, shits wild
This channel has made me fall in love w detailing!
Happy to hear that!
Check out their forum.
Soapy wooder?
Island Aerial 😂🤣chrisfix
Lol 😂👍🏽
Or blinker fluid. Chris says you can use either.
I've noticed that some Bostonians say "wooder" instead of water and "quote" instead of quart.
......that's what she said?
Video starts at about 3:45
Thanks guys I just got the clay bar
The clay bar kit works good. I paid 17.99 for the kit at O'Reilly's.
I like using turtle wax zip wax soap as lube. Mothers clay is terrific. Lay down towels around the perimeter of the car, that way, if You drop the bar, it can be used again safely.
He had me at "you save on lube"
This stuff is hella good, it even took out some waterspots haha
Quick question * if you know the answer* would you recomend using a barclay after using shine armour? And would you recommend doing so
Very cool
I just picked up the new Speed clay block the other day! I can't wait to try it out.
do you like that
My buddy picked up that “New” clay bar 2.0 and he hated it.
Acc0rd79. Yes , lets know.
Do you apply wax after clay bar or is the detailer all that's needed?
Oh yeah I have always heard do not use it in circular motions
That would be true but if you are going to polish after then it wouldnt matter

Why not?
This woman knows her Clay 👍
smart lady ✊🏾
Save me a search please, what kind of soap should one use before a clay and wax? I like that demo of the 2.0 product, I will probably buy next time before a wax job.
I use Miracle ll soap, the best I've seen.
why does it take 4 minutes t get to it? now long is a bar good for?
Ok...so after claying each area...do you rinse and dry the whole car again before polishing, or do you just bask in the fact that you wiped it down with the puuuuurday yellow towel after each section?
How long 2.0 lasts?
How is that the "bumps" on the surface of the paint don't cause scratches when picked up by the clay?
They are absorbed into the clay.
At point 8.4 you said you can "skip a step" by washing your car, then rinsing it, then going straight into the clay bar 2.0. So if I'm understanding you correctly, you then I won't need the lubricant after all....just the rinse off water that was used? You actually said: "plus you save on lube".
Can I use these clay on plastic painted parts of motorcycles ?
will clay take off bugs and tar off the lower doors and fenders?
On my Escalade ESV I ended up using a whole bar and about 3/4ths of the Instant Detailer so I'll need either another kit or see if the detailer is sold separately >.>
Will the clay bar take off the white particles of waxing
How long does the wax last for
what If you just rinsed yor car after a wash. do you need to dry the car before using the spray wax and clay ? also do you need to rinse the car after you clay since you are using a spray wax or just a simple wipe be is all that is needed ?
Will this clay remove dried white roadway paint?
Is the instant detailed a lube or do they sell something else for it
How often should you clay bar a car? Once a year? Twice a year?
Is it needed to use a Polish after using clay or does the clay bar replaces polishing
The_Godfather Typically you’ll always want to paint correct and cut n buff.
Hi autogeek team . It is not better to make rectilinear gestures rather than circular gestures with the clay bar ?!.
Clay mitt, clay towel, clay disc, can we use them with our car shampoo at the same time as washing? Can I for example make: for 3,5gallons of water, 100ml (3,4oz) shampoo meguiar's ultimate wash & wax + 60ml (2oz) of ONR, to use clay mitt, clay towel etc (except clay bar of course)? thank you in advance
my question if you use the caly and it collects the small particles how can you use it the next time when you just twist it a few times? Wont the small dust particles that you just removed and stuck in the clay scratch the paint?
well, just fold it, like when you are wiping something w a towel and gets dirty u just fold it and use the clean side
Has the Mothers staff ever used their own product? The Instant Detailer bottle base is so narrow it is almost impossible to set it down without it falling over. Extremely frustrating when these companies do not test their own products PRIOR to marketing. I poured the lubricant into a round base bottle. I don't want to spent all day picking the bottle up off the floor. "Form follows function", Louis Sullivan.
Mine fell over just today. I'm like, why?
How long does speed clay 2.0 last?
Can I use a clay bar if I have a wax or sealant and ceramic coating or will it remove it?
hola, con que se recomienda lubricar el paso de la speed clay 2.0 ?
A friend told me that this buffs scratches too. Which is the main reason i wanted to buy. I have a fairly new vehicle but it has micro scratches like someone washed it wrong and messed thr paint up.. Will this help?
It will help with the buffing process because your removing contaminants that you will advoud hitting with a buffer.
Is this clay method the best thing to use to remove this orange contamination showing up on my white color after even a good wash? Any suggestions would be great
That's acid rain
Are you supposed to polish and wax afterwards
Can you use the SPEED CLAY 2.0 ON WINDSHIELD?
Cool
I have to use the Speed Clay because I'm somewhat clumsy and I will drop the regular clay on the ground.😞
I have fathers one will that work too
Yes
Is Speed Clay 2.0 as effective as California Gold as they are made from different substance
can clay be used to remove paint spots on a painters truck?
Yes it can
For the lube, can I use a spray wax or simply soapy water?
Sal Barruzza either of those would work
what is the lube ?
Can you use this stuff on windscreens?
Use micro mesh kit
The right side had Mad visible streaks and swirls, how do you avoid that?
Anytime you clay you have to polish w a DA polisher using polish or compound and polish. Part of the process
Why can’t you use the yellow clay bar during a wash? Why does it need to be fully washed and dried?
Can you Clay Bar the vehicle once it is Ceramic coated without removing the Ceramic finish or diminishing the coating. Even with the Ceramic coating I am sure the finish still gets dirty????
If you did a ceramic coating & your car is clean there is no need for a clay bar.
So, are the contaminants actually on the surface of the clear coat even though the car is clean?
yes.
stick stuff does not go away with wash and rinse alone.
Would you use a degreasing soap or any regular soap?
To strip the wax use a good degreasing soap like Dawn before you clay.
what is the lubricant?
How often should I clay my truck? And how often should I use mirror shine?
clay only if you need to.
Have seen previously to move w/clay back and forth not circular! Otherwise good clip. Thank you.
Will the 2.0 remove industrial fallout particles as well as the claybar? I have little orange specks that I need to remove again.
Jason, I have a white car and a white truck that get the little orange specks. Clay will remove some, also iron remover (iron-x) is something that works for me.
Brad Boustead i actually ended up trying the claybar 2.0. I thought it worked great and was alot faster than the original clay. The only thing i didn't like was the side of the mouse-like handle could catch your paint and scratch if you're not paying attention.
I'm curious - I'll wash (Armor All Snow Foam) then clay bar OR clay 2.0...
But then what?
I've got both Armor All Extreme Shield +Ceramic Wash (it did a nice job on my truck and my RV) AND Cerakote Paint Sealer...
Thoughts or advice on which to use?
My assumption is the Cerakote - then maintain with Armor All Snow Foam Soap & follow up with the Extreme Shield +Ceramic...
part number would be great, i need the cinnamon smelly stuff
I just did my F150 and it turned out nice 👍🏼 nice thanx
I call bullshit... no F-150 ever turned out nice lmfao. JK fella
you did not show a close up of the kit. I am not finding anything online that has 2 pieces/bars
Mothers 07240 shows up on amazon around $15 bux
So after you clay do you would still need to put a Polish/wax on it?
Yes, it just removes the surface contamination
Off topic, What brand of cabinets are in the background?
They are Craftsman cabinets
Does it remove tree sap?
The circular motion does seem right. Chemical Guys video shows up and down.
After you clay bar ,should you use a decreaser ,or rubbing alcohol before you start to compound & or polish thanks ,
It would be good if you used a worn looking car paint job. The car used did not need clay bar cleaning.
After you wash it and get all the contaminants off the surface are you suppose to dry car before you clay the surface or can you do it while it's wet?
If the surface is still wet, as long as you are using a clay lubricant as well, you could use it while it's wet no problem.
I want to make sure of the proper steps - wash, rinse, clay bar (is it better to not dry the vehicle when it’s time to use the clay, even when using the mother’s instant Detailer?), rinse, and then use an iron remover? I’ve seen a few videos on the use of an iron remover and I’ve seen people do the iron remover before clay bar and others use it after clay bar.
Here is link that will help you with the detailing process. There is a graphic that illustrates the detailing steps - ABC's of Paint Correction. But we suggest using the Iron remover first while car is dry then rinse and do claying step either while washing or before wash.

Can I use that yellow clay kit on my windows
They make a glass polish
I thought professionals that use clay never use clay in circles? straight lines back and forth hash like patterns? At the 2.03 part of video the guy looks like Danielson wax on wax off
the eabster obviously not professional just a pretend one to sell mothers products
Scott Michale , yes but the mothers rep did it correctly.
If the products you'r using are NOT putting scratches into the paint then it doesn't matter which direction you move your hand.
If the products you're using ARE putting scratches into the car's paint then you don't want to move your hand in one direction to put scratches into the paint in one direction = you want to stop using the product.
Make sense? -Mike Phillips
@@autogeek so you mean..if we are not using mothers brand..lol..correct?
The claybar 2.0 why wouldn't they make it kind of spongy where you place your hand so that way you can squeeze more lubricant back out on the car and continue to Clay your car. Because from what I understand you're able to use your normal soap and water to call your car as well
Griot's garage has similar product where it's a sponge.
