Wanna cheap, effective bracket race engine?... go open the hood of your car!!! BINGO!! There it is! Now go to the track, and practice, practice, practice!!
Wow it certainly looks that way but they're professions I'm sure they verified its condition with the banging on the main caps...I mean that's why ya do it correct?
Didn't watch the entire video, but had to commend you on one thing that only the better engine shops do. Good job on measuring clearance. Yes, it is a Race Engine and it should be Blueprinted. However, many Mom & Pop shops don't see the importance of using a Dial Bore Gage even on a Race Engine!! Absolute mind boggling. They are content on using Plastigage. If I see that method performed by a so called "reputable shop" on a performance or Race Engine, I turn around and never return.
Nice build but one question, why only 11.5:1 for the compression? Too much for cheap 87 pump but not high enough to take advantage of either race gas or E-85. At least 12.5:1 or more. E-85 is cheaper, runs cooler, and more consistent too. I'd say 13.5:1 would have been perfect!
@@danmyers9372If down an intake port then it should exit out the exhaust. If it makes it past the rings it should end up in the sump but if that much is making it past the rings (hopefully they just hadn't seated yet) then ring gap, piston to cylinder wall clearance or something along those lines isn't right.
Anyone noticed they are using a roller block one piece rear main with a roller cam but did not use the cam retaining plate and went with a cam button instead why create the extra work ?
Becuase they wanted to use tie bar lifters over the dog one style, plus they wanted to show what most people have, not everyone myself included has a 880 roller block
What is normal cause of carbon buildup on intake valve in carburated engines??? Plzz give detailed answer and also simple diy method for removing carbon on piston crown without removing head ????is water injection and evaporative steam cleaning is good for engines ??? And basic single cylinder carburettor air screw setting for commuter class and race style carburettors
A timing belt run on an aluminum cam gear bathed in oil? That just don’t seem right to me, I would be afraid the belt would get lubed up with oil and be so slick it would slip and jump teeth.
Wrong hydraulic roller lifters. 10:15 That's why the engine was running crappy. The tie bars are bottoming out on the lifter valleys 🤦🏽♂️. They need .300 tall lifters. It wasn't the carburetor...🙂. Nice try guy's..
Same, they aren’t proven. With euro engines; belts are a 70k wear item on a STOCK DRIVER. Chains are good for 100k on a modified screamer. Swapping a chain setup for a belt is just plain stupid.
I think this is one of the most thorough engine build episodes I’ve seen
That's the kind of episode I like to see, explaining all the build and watch the baby purr after startup. Nice job guys!!!
Mikes so quick to diagnose a issue on the dyno, so much confidence. This engine build was thorough and sensible.
This guy was a great addition.
“Wanna see if it’ll pull 10,000?” BAHAHAHAHAHHA that made my day.
Lol any engine can do 10,000 once

“Change that nervousness to confidence “, “And get with me when this episode is over. I need you to provide a urine sample at the testing center.”.
Just because someone has anxiety doesnt mean theyre on drugs dude.. people that think like you make the world a shittier place ..
Nicely done mate. 👍
I'll sleep better tonight if I tell myself they replaced that cracked main cap before they ran it.
Bro! Saw that shit too!!!

Cmon man, time stamp…..
Its not a crack.
Not a crack, lol
Nice little engine

Oops poured oil into the intake ports on the head. 😬😬😬
Dang you hit that number 1 main cap so hard the bearing came out
They also pour oil into the intake on the head when putting in the lifters
anyone else catch the oil down the intake port when he was lubing the lifters?
Not gonna hurt it
Yeah sloppy workmanship
When I look at this title of the show I keep thinking of swap meet 🙂
Those cam specs are the same as the Comp cam big mutha thumpr roller version , this proof that those cam can produce good power 💪
They do work better than people think.
Someone was attacked by a razor in their sleep....
What was your reasoning for going with a hydraulic roller camshaft over a mechanical roller camshaft, performance or maintenance ? Great video 👍100% !
Like cam grind
For a "budget" build it looks u blokes are sure keeping the UPS and FedX boys busy dropping off them parts. Good result thou.
"In order to waste as much money as possible, we made sure to use all name-brand parts...."
Was there any clearance between the lifter tie bars and the top of the lifter bores
Hey lets pour some oil on the lifters and get some in the intake ports as well

Kyle Larson, jolly good show.
Whats the Part number for the comps ti.ing belt set?
I heard Mike was Grand Wizard
Flat top Pistons, dual plane intake, 513 lift cam, elderblock heads. Race motor???
3:44
Kinda skipped a beat when the bearing dropped from the cap :DD
Stock block twist 10 rpm better have Oliver RODS after market block like your engine build
Anybody notice the drips from breather on the valve cover around the 16:19 point? If that’s oil it might need a catch can!
They got oil down an intake port when they poured all that oil into the lifter galley.

Perhaps the guides are loose and they are just running o'rings.

Was this rotating assembly balanced?
Yes
👍👍👍👍👍👍
A timing belt on an aluminum gear... No thanks!
Go Johnny
Cam shaft part number ?
I believe it’s the 299THR7. For those wondering.
big mutha thumpr.
I 400 sbc guy

Mascara used them for years
NASCAR
@@johnnywalker640 don't seem like the ideal situation, a dry belt would have way more grip. Imo
Crack? 3:47
They literally only reused the oil pump, rods and crankshaft. Everything else was new parts
the heads were also reused, just with new springs and retainers
Wa Ya Say John

They used the correct lifters, the lifters weren’t a raised boss
Tribal tattoo? What tribe are you?
If I was rebuilding an engine, especially a Chevy, I would install a timing CHAIN, instead of a timing BELT. I don't trust them.
And I mean a DOUBLE LAP timing chain.

It actually hurt to watch the entire episode.
Why?
Elaborate
Cause it WAS so good. Watch it now. 😭
3:47 fractured main cap... smart installing that... hahaha *cringe*
Damn nice catch lmao
Came here for this comment. I laughed my ass off when I saw it. 😂
It’s assembly lube, people.
@@baby-sharkgto4902 its not assembly lube lol #4k monitor....

Sure do miss Mike Galley.I don't even watch those two clowns they have now....
Pat topolinsky is a bad ass wym lol
1.19 torque per cube... absolutely pathetic
Lost me at " hydraulic roller" 👎
Stop being stupid, not everyone wants to adjust shit at a 500 mile interval
