What I like best about the way you treat vehicles is you don't "butcher" them. People that make drastic changes from the way a vehicle was originally are only one step away from totally destroying it. I also like that you don't subject me to obnoxious background music the way some sites do. You both present yourselves with dignity and cheerfulness. As I've said before, you make a great couple.

I agree, If someone is gonna change a car, they have to really take the car and its era into consideration. Done correctly, you might think it came that way with options from factory.
I'm very pleased to find a channel that's down to earth and really about the love for automobiles that we all share and showing what we too could have someday. Especially without that obnoxious background music, lol!!

Amazing the geo metro has over 200k miles. Somebody took care of it. Most metro’s were shot at 50k. They were considered disposable cars by Gm. Love videos keep them coming.

I'm so glad you are appreciating what this car is and not going to butcher it up. There are a ton of people that would love to have a small car that gets 50+ mpg. Those cars are getting as rare as hen's teeth and i'm glad to know this channel respects that and wants to put it back in service. Great job!!

I'm a fan of the stripes because, if nothing else they will distract they eye from the paint defects. You could paint the tops of the bumpers black to cover the damaged blue paint. Overall this came out great and thanks for plugging my channel.

My son had one that had a broken window in the hatch. The bone yard wanted 40 dollars for one and it would have cost another 50 to install it.
They told him if he didn't care about the color he could have the whole hatch for 45. He for a year drove a red car with a blue hatch!LOL

It's an XFI, a rare and desirable model. It's the mileage king, taller 5th gear, special cam, two rings instead of three, etc.
XFI is my favorite model. By the way it only came in two colors, white and blue. A/C, automatic transmission were not available. Only ten percent of all Geo Metros were XFI. They are very sought after.

Great job Richard with help from Christina on the Metro. The original ad from than was funny. What you did reminds me of almost 20 years ago when I had an '86 red Dodge Colt (4-Speed) that I used as my commuter car ( 75 miles round trip to & from work). I bought NOS, 2 front fenders, 2 complete front turn signal assemblies. I primed & rattle spray painted the 2 fenders. They came out pretty good! It was a fun car to drive!

My step dad, who was not car educated, kept ignoring the clack-clack-clack of the failing CV joints in our 98 Geo Metro LSI. I kept warning him about them, but he was a stubborn a-hole. Sure enough, one day he was driving it, and ka-plow, ended up in a ditch with 3 wheels, while the broke one continued rolling down the road. What did I say?? I told you!! Now it's a tricycle!

Great job, Richard, and a smart purchase. Hemmings predicts that the Geo Metro will climb in value as a collector car. They referenced the history Richard had earlier talked about, when the Metro became a hot property during a big jump in gasoline prices. Car & Driver had done a comparison test between the Metro and a Toyota Prius, and the Metro bested the Prius in fuel economy. The Metro also gets points for being very simple and easy to maintain.

When I worked for the Goodyear Proving Grounds back in the 90's we had one of these little Geo's and you could not kill it. Ours had over 130,000 hard miles on it and I don't think I ever once used the clutch to change gears. They also put a set of the spare donut tires on it and put 40,000 mils on the little tires. The grounds had a 8 mile road course for tire testing and I had more fun with that Geo running that course.

You did a great job with the stripes. I've been decaling my cars for 30 years. Yes, you can add water for larger decals with just a hint of soap. Then you squeegee out everything so there's no bubbles. But as a first timer, you did good. Smaller decals I don't use water and soap, larger ones that are several square feet then I do. And you also had the right idea on how to pop them. You can either use a needle or a razor blade tip, the squeeze out the bubble.

Thanks, we are good! Yes, the second channel provides us a space for more variety of content that doesn't quite fit in with our "rescues" theme here.

Those Vehicles accomplished the goal. Small, great gas mileage, easy to park in the cities, an economical grocery getter, and super easy to maintain. No it didn't go much above 70 miles an hour,( with tail wind) but it didn't need to. I see no reason why somebody who needs cheap economical basic transportation won't grab that car quickly if you put it up for sale tomorrow. I think the stripes look pretty cool!
    Well done you two.

Geo Metros are awesome. My cousin had one and he basically used it as a luxury go cart 😂 he went through clutches like crazy though

Great revival! There are always people looking for decent cheap transportation for around town, high schoolers, etc. and this is perfect. Let's see more of these! I have used slightly soapy water to apply decals and stripes and find it helps me with positioning and minimizing air bubbles versus applying dry. Instead of compounding and buffing the roof and hood, could it have been lightly sanded and a rattle can clear coat applied to better match the gloss of the sides? Interior transformation amazing! Keep up the fun projects!

Right, a spray can coat of clear would have freshened up the hood and roof quite a bit. Next time I do a project like this, I am going to try it. Thanks for the tips!

My suggestion is see just how high of highway MPG you can get with it doing all the steps to increase efficiency while reducing drag/load without having to butcher the car. Low rolling resistance tires, cleaning up the airflow across the body, maybe synthetic fluids to reduce parasitic power loss, and so on. Usually bubbles under stickers can be prevented by having the panel wet while positioning & smoothing the decals

With the runaway inflation and higher gas prices this would be a great economical option for someone.

Agreed. Now that we live in the country, everything if further away. This car will save us a lot in gas.
