in just pure content and presentation, definitely, Diddy is so damn lively it's unbearably.
but i could never be comfortable with the actual karts though (which is a pretty big component of a racing game lol). they're finicky as hell. thankfully them hovercrafts and planes handle like a dream.

I remember on the last day of school before Christmas, my physics teacher had an n64 and my friend brought in this game and we played it with our other friends, it was great! I love this game!
Because it has Diddy Kong in it.
I remember discovering Drumstick and being hyped as a little kid. It convinced me to look for even more secrets and really explore the game.

It became the game that took me away from Mario Kart 64 while Banjo-Kazooie took me away from Super Mario 64 until Donkey Kong 64 did the same thing.
What I'm saying is that Rareware games are superior in every way in my opinion.

I agree with you NB, Diddy Kong Racing just has so much more depth then MK64! I do like mission mode, but MK9 should use a more open-world.

What is mind blowing about this game is that the tracks are a good mix of hard and easy
Back in 1997, there were 2 animals named Banjo and Conker. They became characters for separate games. 1998: Banjo-Kazooie released and was a huge hit. 1999: Conker’s Pocket Tales released. Not a huge hit for being TOO FAMILY FRIENDLY. Rare then made Conker an M rated- BLAH BLAH BLAH YOU KNOW THE REST!!!

I remembered that I got my Nintendo 64 for Christmas at the age of 5; I had Diddy Kong Racing and Super Mario 64 for the system. My memory was fuzzy, but I think Diddy Kong Racing was my very first game I’ve ever played, if not, Super Mario 64.

Daniel van Maanen I have to agree. I have both N64 and DS, I was pretty excited to have this game on DS, but was ultimately disappointed. No Conker or Banjo, terrible voice acting, no selection of multiple vehicles like in N64. So the DS pretty much ruined the classic N64
DS version sucks. N64 version all the way.
GauzyGlue 143220 Reason for no Banjo and Conker was because of Rare being bought out by Microsoft, multiple vehicles are selectable both on races and the overworld though they need to be unlocked for the overworld, not sure what to say about the voice acting as I have played both and I don’t exactly care over which is better given how voices for handhelds had to be handled differently than consoles given the technology used at the time.
Awww... Diddy Kong Racing. Yet another stellar example of how Rare could outplay Nintendo at their own game.

I have to agree with you there, NB! Except for Diddy Kong Racing DS, that was hell. They took everything that made Diddy Kong Racing fun and made it almost impossible.

One other reason it's mind blowing: the lobby/options music is one of the best menu VGM in gaming. Seriously, I want that to be 'on hold' music when I'm on the phone...

I honestly forgot all about this game. It was pretty fun.
This game was my childhood and I realized I never got passed Dino Domain, never got the unlockable characters, and I never saw Future Fun Land... I literally thought there was 4 keys and 4 trophies for each level in that world, so I sat in the same level for hours trying to look for the keys before realizing there was one per world. I also was so confused on how to get Drumstick and never knew T.T. existed outside of the world you were in, I thought he just gave you your stats. Honestly if I wasn’t so bad at this game I probably would have been so lost on the lighthouse turning into a freaking rocket and there being a second adventure.
This is the best "cart raceing" game ever

What do you think of Diddy Kong Racing for the Nintendo DS?
The game as I look back is okay. Simply Banjo and Conker weren't in this game because Microsoft brought Rare. The graphics were not impressive nowsdays as it is the early days of the DS. But it is possibly my first ever DS game because I love the original Diddy Kong Racing so much that released on my 6th birthday. And I forgot TipTup was in Banjo-Kazooie but I forgot Conker was in DKR too as I know Banjo but not Conker as a little kid ):
The ds version is great but I feel like the n64 version is better. Not only is banjo and conker there but it’s nice to play the originals
