  • This week we're getting jazzy! I take samples of every microphone I sell, and some weeks build tracks using them. In this week's video we're using an RCA 44-BX Ribbon Microphone from the 1950's, an Oktava ML-11M Ribbon Microphone from the 1960's, and a Telefunken TD66 Stereo Dynamic Microphone from the 1960's.

    Sounds very ample and expressive.
    Are you straight in your UAD?

      You display Ampex channels and is it a AEA mikepres unit ?

      I use an AEA RPQ2 for most of these with no EQ, but sometimes an Altec 1567A for more character! I like to keep them clean to retain the character of the microphones though.
