Batman: Arkham Origins is the next installment in the blockbuster Batman: Arkham videogame franchise. Developed by WB Games Montréal, the game features an expanded Gotham City and introduces an original prequel storyline set several years before the events of Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City, the first two critically acclaimed games of the franchise.
Taking place before the rise of Gotham City's most dangerous criminals, the game showcases a young and unrefined Batman as he faces a defining moment in his early career as a crime fighter that sets his path to becoming the Dark Knight. As the story unfolds, players will meet many important characters for the first time and forge key relationships.

In the demo the city was brighter, there was a train, helicopters, and there seemed to be muggings in the Crime in Progress. Those things alone would have made the city feel more alive and I wonder why they weren't in the final product.

I liked arkham origins. the developers may have played it safe, but it has a good story, and the game play is pretty much arkham city, which is good

Arkham Origins was fantastic, but still, people should not get away with such things - look at the demo, it looks DRASTICALLY different from the final product. It is a lot more beautiful, atmospheric and more filled with stuff, the lighting is better and overall it's just so much more glorious.
@@arcticwolf6402 in short, many things were cut out because developers got forced to release the game on 7th gen consoles instead of planned 8th.
I really wish the game felt like this demo did. Don't get me wrong I absolutely loved origins but this demo is so pure and perfect I wish the entire game was like this demo!

Wow this demo actually looks like it takes place at NIGHT. In the actual game it doesn't even look that dark
Well, you have to remember that snow has reflective fragments that reflects light off the clouds, this making your surroundings appear brighter in the process.
The game was originally meant to be for next gen, i.e; PS4 and Xbox One.

I know this was 6 years ago but idc. Yeah I guess they thought that adding fog would look more like Gotham. Gotham is dark not translucent. And you can’t grapple on tall buildings.
If you watch even earlier pre-alpha demos, you'd see that this game was actually initially meant to be next gen game for PS4 and XBox One. But they rushed it out to meet their deadline which is why it looks so much worse in the final release, bad performance and screen tearing.

Anfrenee B I'm pretty sure it was edited with Adobe Effect adding blur to graphic looks good how shows but for lights probably was reduced and removed because of limitation. Fogs were added to make game more realistic like in real life.

They looked much better than the full release. Arkham City looked good as this demo.
Seeing how good looking the city was in the demo and how downgraded the final version is makes me sad and shows why this game needs a remaster much more than Asylum or City did.
I love this Batsuit more and more each time I see it.
i wonder what happened to one of the buildings, helicopters and the train small details that would of probably made the game much better than it is, heck the dlc cold, cold heart is soo much better than the game
***** i would of aswell but because of the bland story telling in the game and eniemes in the game that made no sense and were not in the comics of batman and there not a big enouth and cramped enouth world hell the dlc, a cold, cold heart was better then the story of the game and that was only 3 to 4 hours long

Absolutely. This game is unique. Incredible storytelling and a very good understanding of Batman's psyche from the storytellers. And Batman-Joker psychological connection was given perfectly. It's like you really have to know some proper psychiatric knowledge to be able to truly understand what's going on and appreciate the masterful story telling. Batman is by far the best ever comics character with his villains and concept and Gotham city and all.
Even the final scene in the chapel alone had many religious and occult references besides psychological stuff.
Such an incredible game.

+Marcus Moore The Cold, Cold Heart DLC is better than the whole game. I will say this- Batman: Arkham Origins is the worst Arkham game, but it's one of the best videogames out here.

+Jim Walker I've played through the game countless times on New Game Plus and they're not that bad. You just have to get to grips with their timing.

thegetbentsaggy even if you look at the pc version, it looks different, i mean hell back in this demo you had a train D: the skybox was better (now it looks like British overcast weather in the afternoon) the lighting also appears to be better as well, there is certainly more color.

did anybody else think that we got less time to counter an enemies attack in origins because in asylum and city I build up large combos and barely ever get hit that changed a little in origins
Hi from a guy reading these comments long after the game has released.
Yes, the developers of Origins changed up a couple minor details about the enemy design. They made the attacks go quicker and improved the enemy AI. In Asylum, City, and now Knight it when I’m fighting against the regular thugs it feels like I’m fighting a bunch of idiots. In Origins, they improve the enemy A.I a bit so it actually feels like they’re trying to kill you, but they’re just monumentally less experienced than the Batman. I really like that change.
Anyway, you probably know this seeing how it’s been 7 years, but I just wanted to talk about that little change.
Got this game 2 days pre-release. It's awesome, gameplay is slick as always and the story has some nice twists and turns.

I like how (whether it's an unintended consequence or intentional way to justify actions later on) emotional and active Batman is within dialogue and how his fighting stance is more...overtly aggressive when standing still versus how stiff and calm he is in the other two games in vocal delivery and how he just stands there arms at the side even in the midst of combat..
Just makes it seem all the more like the Batman in Asylum and City is a veteran badass who doesn't need to overdo it anymore.
the tone combination between light and shadow here is still amazing after bunch of times i come back and watch. a little disappointed that in my game everything had too much white tone even in the dark which looked kind of fake

The demo is better than the full game
Got the game since yesterday. Think it's awesome. Nice graphics, smooth gameplay, new ways of fighting especially in the boss fights. Fought against Deathstroke and needed some attempts to finally bring him down. The "Conter"-System is tricky in the beginning but also quick learnable. Enjoyed the crime scene fights and the city is huge...until now I think it's an amazing game!
We should get a remake or a remastered version so we get the more lively version of gotham lile shown in E3

I have a couple of things to say.
1. Unless I missed it, the commercial that GameStop uses to advertise Arkham Origins. NONE of the cut scenes from the commercial are in the Arkham Origins gameplay. For me, the cutscenes made me want to buy the game & since the game didn't have it, it's almost false advertising.

I shouldn't have to play through the ENTIRE Beginning of a game FOR HOURS just to get some of my favorite parts of the game. I should be able to save a point and be able to go back to that point in the game whenever I load it from my save files.
I understand Autosave helps people for those with crappy memories & they forget to save their game and then die & lose all the progress they made.
BELIEVE ME, EVERYONE DOESN'T WANT AUTOSAVE, SO MAKE IT AN OPTION INSTEAD OF MAKING IT MANDATORY.

0:33 Ive gotta hand it to Eric Holmes for writing a very well written established immersive/compelling main narrative of a younger batman during his early years of his crimefighting career. His writing is very excellent!

also in case some people don't know, kevin conroy announced in the dallas comic con that he was going to be starring in a new arkham game, one that is currently in production, he tweeted "confusion in dallas!!" so, this batman game he's working on could be where it takes place AFTER the events in arkham city, that would be awesome
that does make sense. Batman changed his armor from a bigger and more protecting armor(which made him slower), to an armor more light and flexible, making him able to be faster.
I realize most of the demo is from the Cold Cold Heart DLC. That's why it looks darker at night.
I think the more likely explanation is that the stuff in the E3 demo that was cut out for the main game was reused for the Cold, Cold Heart DLC, not necessarily that this is CCH itself.
That crazy dog works for me. He doesn't even know how to fight... he's just the definition of insanity... I like him.
The final version of the map is really bland but it makes sense why they would change to a more generic design for the buildings, together with the fog.
The 360/PS3 simply could not run a bigger version of Arkham City.

Man! I know this doesn't get looked at a lot but I found that intro in this video with black mask to be the most badass thing ever! Him putting a bounty on the head of Batman was already intense but the whole idea where all bets are literally off and that feeling where Batman isn't safe anywhere was so well done there. "I don't care who does it! Don't care how they do it... I just want the bat dead..." The coldest line ever!
Call me crazy but Arkham Origins had one of the best storylines in the franchise
Troy Baker does a wonderful Joker voice, very proud with his performance and keeping Mark's style alive as well, truly a voice of talent. :)
CZcams's limit is 30 FPS, the real quality of the game is shown by youtube by half. So really what you see here is only HALF of the quality of the game. So that means it looks alot sweetier when you see it live.
Saying that a specific Batman gadget doesn't make sense, in itself, doesn't make sense because it's true to his character. He's always had wildly implausible gadgets and he always seems to be carrying them exactly when he needs them. Remember Bat Shark Repellent? What about sonar cell phones and bat summoning boots from the recent movies?
Actually it's his second year of being Batman. The lead designer said so in the demo for REV 3 games.

This game is about 2 years into Batmans careerer. Nightwing was his first apprentice, and Robin doesn't come in after Nightwish alleged death. I don't expect him to be in this game, but who knows. They just said in this video, Nightwing will be playable exclusively for PS3.

You say that like it's a bad thing. The first two games were classics, and City is one of my favorite games of all time.
It makes more sense that he has new gadgets because he has full access to Gotham in this one (presumably including the batcave where all his gadgets are stored) where as in AC and AA he didn't have full access to the proper batcave

He confirmed it a few months ago on Twitter I believe. I think it may have been June or July when he was asked if Green Arrow would be in Arkham Origins. He replied that Green Arrow would not be in the game

its going to have all of the map from arkham city (north gotham) plus this new area which is just as big as arkham city (south gotham) you will be able to fast travel to each respective areas (like from the bowery to the amusement mile) using the batwing, but only after you take down the cell towers in these areas by manually getting there

Arkham City had a demo on the PS3 that's how i found the franchise but i already had heard about Arkham Franchise before so i just checked it out.
i love this playthrough, ive already got it pre loaded and i'm gonna be uploading vids like crazy tomorrow
