PART 1: • Robot Carnival- A Tale...
The comedy short from the 80s anthology anime Robot Carnival. This is the English version, but even if you hate dubs and only listen to Japanese versions, you should still listen to this just so you can hear the....interesting way the Japanese characters were done. - Krátké a kreslené filmy
Robot Carnival is now officially available on DVD and Blu-Ray from Discotek! If you like the movie and want to support it and companies willing to reprint older anime, go buy the discs. I got the Blu-Ray and it's both packed with extras and a beautiful transfer.

"So many beautiful buildings destroyed, on the other hand this side looks okay."
"Look! The rising sun of Japan!"
"The sun is sitting dimwit."
The part where he goes "BANZAAAAI!!!" always cracks me up.
Man, I miss old school anime like this. I love the rich colors, the puffy, curvy shapes, and the peppy, synthesized music. Great stuff.
This was way ahead of its time. This literally belongs to the 2020. I wish this becomes a full fledged series with the current artists doing a hand drawn assisted with computers. I enjoyed every second of it.
This is probably one of the single most greatest things I have ever watched.
I LOVE HOW DIFFERENT THE GIANT ROBOTS ARE IN THIS SEGMENT. VERY STEAMPUNK.
This is the most anime thing I have had the pleasure of watching.
Fun facts... The voice actor who played the part of Kichi, is none other than Bob Bergen, otherwise known as the voice of Porky Pig. And the guy who voices Denjiro is Kerrigan Mahan, the official voice of Goldar from Mighty Morphin Power Rangers!
I can totally hear Porky now that you mention it!
He also played No-face from Spirited away English dub
Kerrigan also voiced Jeb on VR Troopers and Bob was also the voice of Tweety.
Love that slo-mo turn around "Banzaaaaiiiiii!!!"
amazing, love robot carnival!
I remember when the Sci Fi channel aired this back in the '90's (when it was a network worth watching)...along with Vampire Hunter D, Lensman, and other very cool things. I think it was when I first really gained an appreciation for anime. So happy to see it here!
Oooy Yeah soooo true
My favorite part of that movie! Great over all DVD. And if you don't like a story, wait 15 minutes and get something roughly the same quality but completely different.
This is the most realistic robot battle ive ever seen so far
My personal favorite of the Robot Carnival
I first saw this in the Mid 90's and Glad you Posted this, definitely one of my Favorite Animes Ever. Fun Stuff!
YES! I've finally got the chance to watch what I've been looking for so long! for some reason, these few shorts were stuck in my memory when I happened to come across it on TV at a young age.
The accent and the voice acting is brilliant! listen to the way she says "everyone will know" it's just like a barking dog!
An oldie and STILL a goodie!
This should have become a series!!
Critical hit to the ammo rack.
That was hilarious! I loved it! It was awesome!
Thanks for the upload
Ah now this takes me back. Robot carnival is one of the few that has never been released on dvd to my knowlege. This first started showing on wtbs back in the day then it made it to scifi channel later. The only thing i do have from this is the original soundtrack. I found it at a suncoast before it closed. Hopefully someday this will make it to dvd. Thanks for posting.
I love the silly accent.
Love this anime
The animation in this is fantastic.
What's "Robot Carnival"?
This is the first time I've heard of this?
I remember Cartoon Network aired this with the last of the cockroaches and Vampire hunter D, i was just a kid back then , but it was freaking great to see those great animes back then ^^
This work of art brought to you by youtube recomendations in 2020
Bingo
2:36 he'll never give up taking a dump
LOOLL that little man on the bridge didnt move in time.
That's kinda the point actually. It's a parody of pre-WWII Japanese propaganda films.
the hero characters are speaking with a Japanese Accent in this Dub, which makes it funny.
dooooooood, when I was like 10 my uncle had this on at his house, and I watched it and was like wtf.... and then randomly I remembered it and now I'm downloading robot carnival.
Huh.
Well that was fun.
Scientist has one hell of a name though.
There are DVDs of the movie that you can buy cheap online, but they're bootlegs in Japanese only and with terrible Engrish subs for the two dialogue shorts. However, if you go on Mininova or most torrent sites you can find a full 4.5 GB transfer from an actual DVD, so if you have the hard drive space and a DVD burner go check that out.
love manga animation so much
It's a short from an 80s anthology film called Robot Carnival. As far as I know, there was never any follow-up.
What? Yes, he does. Go back and watch the part where he yells to them on the megaphone- he's Jonathan Jameson Volkerson the Third.
Oops, I probably missed that part. Thank you for telling me.
In Dragon Quest: Rocket Slime
your team mans a large robot and tosses whatever items and weapons you have into a cannon
LOL!!!!!! 4:40 Her eyes getting big! I love anime!!!
違和感ないな~
The should do a sequel to this segment alone. :D
@ApacheMan2K
yes its english thats why there a symbols on the side everytime he talks
thats like subtitles but on the side
I agree totally!
woot 1ST. Amazing show! Domo Arigatou!
im pretty sure this movie was a clip from some Giant robot/ Gundamn/ mech documentary film
@ApacheMan2K
but its weird the main character actually looks like a katsuhiro otomo drawing.^^
No reason not to. Show them the other shorts on CZcams as well, Franken's Gears and Nightmare are awesome.
The dub to end all dubs.
i love the dub so much hahahahahahah
lol the very first gundam wing robots? XD
So are they gonna puss out on the Blu Ray release and axe these wonderful Charlie Chan voices? It’s 2018 after all, very stupid people riot over things like this.
The Blu-Ray is out and I believe the dub was left unaltered. It's probably too niche of a release for them to be super concerned about it.
I wonder if square enix watched this when they made rocket slime.
Hehehe, very funny, I like that mad guy XD But it's a shame he never mentions his name. Every other crazy villain like him would have done that. :-D
What did the subtitle say A Tale of Two Robots was part?
sampl at 2:20
♥️
why is this related to square enix? please assist
The first power rangers ....
i see
What is the title of this anime?
Robot Carnival. It's an 80s OVA.
pongalo en español
did otomo did the art for this funny cartoon?^^
No. He worked on the intro and ending segments of Robot Carnival.
Kinda ironic that this is about Japanese fighting against Western influence while the Western interpreters decided to use that fake stereotypical Japanese accent.
I think it is fitting since this is supposed to be a parody of WW2 Propagandas
Before the decadence of anime
This anime has to the win the award for most terrible and stereotypical dubbing ever, but it does look damn good lol.
i like the way that the Asians sounded Asian, and i think that every anime should be re dubbed to reflect the country of origin of each character.
They don't sound asian at all.
Dude the voice acting sounds really dumb man
it’s like I am hearing western voice actors impersonating an Asian man and woman, in a funny way.
That's because you are.
Behon I’m just saying it’s kinda stereotypes because the Asian accent is really irritating to hear.
Nice parody of Japanese WWII-era propaganda films.
Racist, but so freakin hilarious!!! LOL
LMAO do the VA's even know that they're supposed to be playing Japanese chars? The accent would have been more authentic if the actors just said "ching-chong wing-wong" the whole time and kept the subtitles
wow. the japanese character's voices were annoying
