Greatly appreciate this bro. I have now successfully homebrewed both of my old Wii systems. I have one from Christmas 2007 with all the GC ports on it. We were so spoiled with cross compatibility.

please get an SD card, you need it for PriilLoader to do NAND backups.
this is very limited in terms of usage, and incredibly questionable in terms of data safety

Works on January 6th 2024 - issues I had below and how I solved them:
-Once I entered the DNS numbers it was stuck on connection testing.
I simply unplugged the wii and plugged it back in. Went to settings again and ran a connection test.
You need to do connection test or you get an error code in the user agreement part!
After doing connection test continue as normal. Had no issues after.

I tried this last week and again today. Everything works fine, but when I open the home brew app it stays on the screen with bubbles and the internet icon in the bottom right corner of the screen next to the lizard blinks and then lights up for a little while, and then blinks some more

So for everyone whose wii remote is disconnecting try removing the motion plus adapter or try connecting a wii remote without the wii motion plus inside, for some reason that worked for me

Really glad you had a video on doing this without the sd card but quick question. To put games in from an sd into the wii is would I have to format and set up the sd card normally with the sd card method or could I just place the wbfs files in and plug the card into the wii?

All of your videos - that I have used so far, have helped me out immensely. You make modding a Wii so easy! :). I am now using my Wii as a multi-emulator for older consoles. I do however, have a few random questions
-Can I fit 128g on my flashdrive if it was formatted to FAT32, or only 32G
-Do hacked roms work- I was always wary, even when i emulated from my phone or PC, so never tried them
-Do you have any suggestions on Homebrew apps you never mentioned
-Game suggestions on NES,SNES,SEGA, and WII. I have likely downloaded any popular titles, so really just looking for some hidden gems i may be unaware of. ( prefer N64 remote for N64 games, so I emulate those on my laptop with an HDMI to my TV, and play with a N64 USB controller) -- I do not have a gamecube controller, and feel like the wiimote would be harder to play GC, but may pick up a remote or two in the future.

I forget what i mention in this but the best homebrew apps would be the homebrew browser, priiloader, and savegame manager gx.
Hidden gems in my opinion are the arcade games Q-bert and BurgerTime on the NES...I love those ones lol
You need either a gamceube controller, wii classic controller, or wii remote with nunchuk to play GC games
I have an Purple HORI gamecube controller, that looks like a SNES controller, also nice to play with.

Hey thanks for the video it is really straightforward and super easy to follow! I just have one question, I followed your steps exactly and when I got to the "Would you like to use the wiishop channel and WiiConnect24," page, I got the Wii Network User Agreement page and not the page with the unicorn/rainbow. Any fixes?
You might have to use the letterbomb method unfortunately. Some wii's just don't seem to like the dns setting method
Same here, then i used Letterbomb, its freezes the system when i click on it... is there another option ?
I ended up using the letterbomb method which worked great for me on the first try. It seems that some consoles work better than others for whatever reason. Good luck!

I'm glad it went smooth! and you will still need an sd card to backup your nand. This is just how to get the hbc without sd card

@@PersonWithStupid37 go to internet and then click user agreement or agreement/contact whatever shows for u then if u get that click yes or whatever it says then if u get that rainbow dash looking thing then u done it right then don't click i agree or I don't agree just leave and after 1-2 mins it will load

I really wanna attempt doing this! With the wii service shut down and not even being able to watch CZcams/Netflix on it anymore due to the services being shut down - that and the duec drive being broken - this would make it useful again! My fear is the only thing really stopping me from attempting this.... I've seen so many other videos of devices being modified and then they stop working bc the modification bricked it and they can no longer even use the device. I'm terrified of messing up, bricking my Wii and losing access to the games I did buy from the wii shop channel and all my saved data. So Fear is definitely stopping me from trying this... yet I want to so I can play Zelda Rom hacks. All the conflicted feelings xD
I know what you mean! The first time I modded my Wii I was worried but honestly, I've modded 14 Wiis since then and bricking your Wii is hard to do if you are only trying to do simple things like homebrew, Usb loader games/ROMs. For you though, since you are worried, you should try the letterbomb method instead of this one. This allows you to download bootmii onto the SD card which saves your Wii's NAND, which is all your data on your wii. This protects it from being bricked because you can get everything back if something does go wrong. Priiloader is also another layer of brick protection you should look into :)

@@funkyscott47 no problem. I had to go this route as I couldn't really figure it out. So now I have the homebrew channel (yay) but not bootmii. Is there a way to install it? I have an SD Card is that helps
@@TikaaniWolfos As long as the SD card is in the wii, if you are on the hackmii installer (where you installed homebrew channel), below "install homebrew channel" it should say "bootmii..." and if you click on that, you should be able to download in onto the SD card :)

You will need to place homebrew apps on your SD card or USB drive, For the homebrew channel, it need s to be Fat32 on sd card or. Usb

I may have forgotten to say that you need to insert a fat32 formatted SD card or USB drive with apps set up on it for any apps to show in the homebrew channel 😅 I'm glad you figured it out though :)

for some reason none of the dns i’ve used have worked for me. i get to the “i accept/i do not accept” screen but it is the regular one instead of the blue screen. is there anything i can do about this?
Is your Wii updated to 4.3? And did you make sure to confirm the new DNS settings and have it connect to the internet after? otherwise, I would try following it step by step to make sure you didn't miss anything to double check it's not the DNS settings. Some Wiis might just have a harder time since they are old
@@funkyscott47 it’s updated to 4.3 and i triple checked the dns settings were right. i’m not sure when this wii was bought because it wasn’t originally mine, all i know is that it is a black wii
@@JosephJJB Hmm.. does it give you an error code? As far as I know, the exploit should work on any Wii. But if you can't get it to work, you might have to use the letterbomb method as you don't need the internet for that way. It not difficult but you need to get an SD card, which is an extra cost

This link will take you to the Wii guide I used and at the end, it says "If it was unsuccessful, please use another exploit" so it might be worth getting the SD card to do the letterbomb method. Worked. Very easy. for some people finding it hard to connect you have to actually connect to your internet or some internet for it to work. I used wireless. I'm trying to figure out the next step I need a good SD card and a good thumb drive I already have a computer. So I'll see what happens next.

After putting in the DNS settings, I clicked confirm and then saved, but then I got error code: 51332 Unable to connect to the Internet. Choose Internet Settings and then confirm your connection.
I get error code 50300 internet settings incorrect. Seems letterbomb sd method is the only way
I just tried again and it worked for my hotspot

My controller freezes
If you click anything with the Wii Remote while in the Str2hax screen, then it will freeze, Don't click anything for 1-2 minutes and then it will run the code

Hello! Im new to Wii modding and was questioning; Bootmii, to my understanding, is simply an extra safety in case nintendo were to ever push an update to the wii? Which in turn would render your wii unusble. I have a usb drive I can use to download games. However, I dont have an extra SD card. But I'll still be able to install Bootmii at will, for instance, when i get an extra SD card in. Just wanted to make sure I got the jist of everything before going ahead and doing this method before having a SD card. Thanks for your time 😊
