A1 is one of the very few boy bands I like, one of the explanations is that they are not a boy band in the true sense of the concept (audition to find all the 4 or 5 members where the majority don't have musical talent) because only 1 was to audition (and that was for Steps) and that was Paul Marazzi. Christian Ingebrigtsen (norwegian multi-instrumentalist) who went to LIPA got a request that this was something he wanted to be part of and he didn't know what a boy band was, then they were looking for another member and were at a concert to check out Gary Read but during the concert they got into a conversation with his brother Mark Read so after the concert they wanted to have Mark in the band instead but Mark wanted to have a friend called Ben Adams whom he had worked a lot with earlier in the band as well
Caught in the Middle is a genuinely brilliant song, and to this day is up there with my faves. Saw A1 when I followed the Big Reunion Boybands tour (I’m a 3T fan❤️), and while seeing my 3T boys was epic, I loved watching A1 perform this song every night!

My fave song if there’s has to be ‘every time’ and i especially love the live version they did at the big reunion gig in 2015. You know what I mean when I said Ben in Summertime of Our Lives was seducing everyone that was watching 😋🥰. It's not hard to see how Ben was the first crush for so many of us growing up lol.
To furthermore build up on the stereotype,the only blonde guy of the bunch is Norwegian,and might be a good reason why they decided to cover Take On Me. Christian Ingebrigtsen is actually the son of a Stein Ingebrigtsen,considered one of the living music legends in Norway. (Stein Ingebrigtsen is a Norwegian vocalist, guitarist and songwriter. He broke through in 1968 after appearing on the talent show Talent 68 and made his single debut with "Langt hår/Long Hair". Stein Ingebrigtsen has been successful in six languages: Norwegian, Swedish, German, English, Italian and Spanish) So his so son Christian followed in his dad footsteps by becoming a vocalist,song composer and song writer for himself,while active in A1 and for other artists. Christian is the only "non British" guy in A1. My favourite song is defintly Caught In The Middle,i just think it overall was the best fitting song for theyr voices,and made them sound more serious and mature. Going forward Same Old Brand New You is not half bad either,you might get vibes from other more famous boybands at the time,without giving away wich ones lol. Mark Read (with the sideburns) gets to show off his vocals abit more at the start of this song,wich i found positive for him,as he often was just "in the background" sort of. This song might be my second favourite after Caught in the Middle: A1 - Make It Good. If you want them to take you by surprise again in regards to sound and genre: A1 - Ready or Not (Video)
If you're up for some German pop, please, consider reacting on No Angels and Sarah Connor (sexy bops and power ballads). Their songs are in English. Lots of 2000s hits.
Personal reasons I'm sure it was, but I know they recorded caught in the middle for a French release with a French artist, and his part of the song was replaced by the French singer, so I think that added to the fact he quit
