    Thanks Maikel, another great video. It’s always good to see what’s out there and very interesting to note the prices. I am currently having a July 1962 matching numbers RHD fixed head coupe restored. It will be driven, as they should, and cannot wait for it to be finished. Keep the E-type videos coming.

      Thanks for watching and the feedback. Sadly, the work involved in a full nut and bolt restoration would take many, many hours to present every single step. It does not takle much to look at a car and say. "Wow, nice", many salespeople do know that, but the important thing, at least in my eyes, is the quality of what you usually do not see. That is where the money goes. Too often realized too late.

      Hi Richard, thought you would be busy packing your suitcases. 😂. That coupe is nice, a shabby driver, just as we like them. I also like the French one wich is even older but needs to be assembled. I have the right car to show you, it is just between those two and still original low milage. I know you will be loving it. Get your batteries charged, you need them 😁

      @@JaguarEType Yes , l'm afraid l did . Unfortunately life has been pretty traumatic . The Jaguar Classic Works in Coventry sell their fully restored e types for over £400,000, so your gunmetal coupe which I’m sure has been rebuilt to the same standard represents great value at c£200,000. !!!

    • @JaguarEType
      @JaguarEType  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Good day and thank you for your interesting input. 👍🏻 The cars might be at the same standard. We might have thought about some extra details, such as the larger S2 brakes, the JAGUAR branded Motorola Radio which is the only one I have seen in my life. Maybe someone sends me a picture of their JAGUAR branded radio. Only thing that my wife has not on the bill is the JAGUAR BRAND logo on the bill. But we have about 2.500 pictures of the restoration. Every single bit is high end and nothing left to chance. So yes, inquiries are welcome. 😊

      Yes ,a fabulous car from Maikel in rebuilt form with lots of originality .Unfortunately E type values (in the UK at least ) are at a poorly low with many cars being sold at knock down prices .One such car very recently sold is Chassis 38 OBL @£150k ,a very presentable original ‘first fifty’ car has just been through a very costly recommission at CMC in the UK doesn’t help the cause at all with restoration costs on most builds exceeding this actual sold figure .Hoping that E type prices pick up again .

    • @JaguarEType

      The market is sensitized. Would you need or drive an OBL for long haul tours? No, because the later cars are more practical. The OBL is a collectors car and only worth a premium when highly authentic. Too many OBL cars have been chucked together between 2015 and 2020 just to make money. Now, as most of the collectors are able to recognize the authenticity and what it takes to get it there. The real jewels are hard to find. To find an OBL is easy, but to find a real GEM is the challenge. And if you find one you pay a premium price. The other cars which are in the garage for decades will need a refresh, and many owners will be surprised how prices have gone up the last 20 years. I know people who are spending 200.000 for a modern camper just to go for a BBQ, why not spending 250.000 to go to a spa or fancy hotel for proper dinner. The camper will drop in value, your E Type not.There is a market for the collectors and there is a market for the DIY restorers. That needs to be distinguished. I see both as two completely different cars and markets, still some people do confuse them.

      You will still find them for the money, but do expect more money to be spent before you can go on long-term holiday trip to be enjoyed. Often, for things you do not buy regularly, we are surprised as we tend to forget the inflation over the many years. Plus, labour is often a challenge to get the job done. Too many classic cars for too few good workshops. Just be prepared. Nothing else. Maikel

    Hello Maikel, I have learned very much with all of your videos! Now I have a question: I have a matching numbers 1962-FHC looks like original dynamo but not sure, car has been restored but the interior trim has been taken out and it has a FIA racing certificate also. in few words the car has been modified to race spec but is this something that add the value because its FIA certified or is it better to reinstall a new interior? Is there a market for people looking for a raw race car? thank you.

    • @JaguarEType
      @JaguarEType  Před 2 měsíci +2

      Hello and thank you very much for watching my videos. It is not easy to answer your question as the price of a car os always what someone else is prepared to pay. There is a racing car market, also forbclassic cars and those prices are surprisingly high. Some might be famous racing cars who already won a lot or just because they are certified. For someone who just wants to go on a road trip, He would not need the FIA but an interior. I would talk to someone who is trading racing cars first. 👍

    I would love to know how you view the so called series 1.5, do you see it as the last run of the series 1 just with out the headlights covered and some bits or a series in it's own right.
    personally I see it as a vulgar americanism and is now unfortunately adopted by everybody.

    • @JaguarEType
      @JaguarEType  Před 2 měsíci +3

      Good day and thank you for your feedback. I will try to explain my point of view. (It is not the law). As the modifications to the S1 were forced be the US for the beginning of 67, I think Jaguar was not ready for the model revamp to the S2. They needed to rush and had to modify the existing cars in production only for the US market where the rest of the world got the original S1 still delivered. I think the proper S1 was delivered in the UK until summer 68 and only then it was called S2. Everything in-between is an alternation and change of production to comply with the new health and safety law in the US. Generally spoken, the 1.25 with minor changes and the 1.5 are no official model descriptions, but are used, helping to explain, that it already received some grade of "face lift". In the UK, these models never existed, hence they probably do not even know what they are. Some buyer, re-importing an E Type from the US might actually have been surprised when the car arrived from the US with open head lights or even later with only 2 carbs. Must have been wild period also for Jaguar, and it was exactly the time when Leyland took over. For me if someone talks about an 1.xx it tell me it is a US car with different degree of alternations compared to the European cars. Always need to ask what year and month it was built as otherwise you can not tell the spec. It is my opinion and hope it helps. 👍
