    Fun fact: the creators wanted to tell this story in Alta with aang but couldn’t find the right time to do it since he was already tune in with his spirituality, so this is the perfect one that korra was the one to go on this journey.

    People keep saying that “this episode retconned ATLA”, but I think they just don't know what a retcon is
    If you think about it for more than two seconds, you can realize that this episode doesn't contradict the idea that the first benders are the Moon, badgermoles, dragons and sky bisons. Yeah, lion-turtles gave humans the ability to bend the elements, but that doesn't mean they mastered them. They're martial arts, so of course they need teachers, and these are the first benders
    Heck, we see Wan training firebending with a dragon in this very episode, and other humans say they've never seen anyone firebend like him after that! People just look for any excuse to complain about this show...

      While accurate that the artwork for the battlefield looks identical. From a World building perspective that makes no sense. 10,000 years later that field would definitely look completely different.
      If it's a temperate climate, Rain would have worn them away by now.
      If it's a desert climate, Wind/Sand would have worn them away by now.
      If it was a cold climate, ice would buildup in any imperfecttions and they would have cracked.
      In the real world, the oldest surviving pyramids are about 3,000 years old and they're in rough shape. 10,000 years they don't have a chance.
      And Even if all the stone is granite so you can ignore the previous three issues, most places that have huge battles are important strategic locations, which means future battles will happen in that same location.
      Basically there's always a war happening somewhere in the world so they were just recycling artwork.

    Humans cannot hold two elements but Raava can. Hence him using an element, then Raava switching it for another, then another, and him not being able to bend all himself. He can technically do all when she's inside him but it will kill him. But when they become one, he essentially is Raava. They're spirits are bonded forever. If Raava can hold multiple elements, then the Avatar can

      yeah ozai actually wasnt that huge of a threat, every avatar seems to have to deal with a huge dictator, the reason why aang had it so hard is because of his age, he was so young, and because while yes he is the avatar, all avatars have their own set of morals and personalities unique to them, and the fact that not even his own past lives could help with his internal conflict really sealed the deal, i think while it may seem he had it easy as ozai isnt actually that big of a threat, aang found a way to carve his own path and in a sense, he made a simple problem harder for himself, however it paid off as he got to meet a lion turtle and unlock an insane ability that we dont see too many other avatars use or even have, it also helped him with yakone! 😁 all in all, aang is unique because we dont see too many avatars in tune with their spiritual side as much as aang is, most avatars we see seem to be more on the brash side witha fighting personality, which isnt a bad thing at all either, however considering how huge of a threat vaatu is, it really goes to show how amazing korra is of an avatar, i dont understand the hate for korra considering her rogue’s gallery is literally overkill, the red lotus was already a huge threat, now throw in kuivira and her earth empire, a bloodbending mastermind with an insane ability, and the spirit of chaos himself?! nah thats insane, the stakes are so much higher in korra in my opinion

    • @DriftingMaze
      @DriftingMaze Před měsícem

      @@ethansibounmaI don't think people hate korra for not having defeated powerful enemies, they hate her because of her personality and how rash she is! Also even though vaatu is much more powerful than ozai I personally still find him much more threatening than Mr evil kite! It also doesn't help the show that the avatar gang in this show is so bad when compared to the one in ATLA!

      @ethansibounma Před měsícem

      @@DriftingMaze True, i wish they had better designs for spirits rather than generic demons and flying kites, but honestly my point still stands from a story perspective korra had it hard, so did aang, korra can be a lot more immature and annoying for sure, she is horrible at being a mediator, but i think thats kind of the point to be honest. Ozai’s presence is more intimidating i mean his voice acting is 10/10 plus there was a huge buildup to fighting him, in aangs time they needed a fighter but he was a peacemaker, and in korras they need a peacemaker but she was a fighter, thats kinda the point yk

    Remember back in Season 1 of Avatar The Last Airbender when Aang talked to Roku & Roku said that Aang has to learn to master all 4 elements in less then a year? Aang said that he can't do it that fast, but then Roku said that he can since he's done it before & will do it again. At the time this could be Roku referencing himself & all of the other past Avatars when they learned to master the 4 elements, but with this episode it can be interpreted that Roku was specifically referring to Avatar Wan since he mastered all 4 elements in about 1 year.

  • @fools5271
    @fools5271 Před měsícem +3

    My theory is that
    1) Everyone in avatar world reincarnates, but the avatar gets to keep the memories of their past life due to Raava acting like a hard drive.
    Thus every avatar is the reincarnation of Wan's and Raava's spirit.
    2) Raava and Wan's spirits are like mixing cold water and sugar. Sugar dissolves easily in warm water than in cold water. Sugar also eventually settles out in cold water unless you heat it up.
    A spirit portal during harmonic convergence portal provides the energy to allow them to coexist in this stable state. In our sugar and cold water analogy, it's like heating up water on the stove while mixing the sugar. The sugar is well mixed and water looks clear.
    This is not to say Wan and Raava's spirits are permanently attached together. You can always add more energy to separate sugar from the water aka evaporation.
    3) Wan probably touched the spirit portal out of desperation if anything. Luckily, in this case, it was a good choice.
    4) The order that Wan learned the elements is the same as the reincarnation cycle [fact]

Book 3 changed to have Avatar Ruok then The Sun Warriors and the final Book 4 sees us spend a whole season with THE DRAGON OF THE WEST as we see Iroh's journey from a energetic bratty cadet raising through the Fire Nation military ranks, meet his wife to be and ultimately the death of his son. Bending has always been there with the Dragons, Badgermoles, Sky Bisons and the Moon using the powers always until the Lion Turtles (Holders of the elements) gave the elements for the humans to keep for the first time in Wan's lifetime. U should read turf comic then u will understand opening portals was a bad decision wan was right by remain them close korra is nonsense how balance could be maintain if evil people or evil spirit not destroy each other worlds with vatu gone does nit mean all bad spirits are gone the example is in turf comic and balance has to nothing with portals from past 10 thousands years balanced was maintainwd by ever avatar even with portals closed infact closed portals are more benificial because it is good for both worlds that evil from both sides not harm each other worlds

      @lalalalisa41 Před měsícem

      @@user-jh8vk2vw4s I will say that Wan was right in that he didn't think humans and spirits were ready to get along, but when are you really though? Korra made a choice that she thought was right and like any Avatar, they'll have to deal with their actions. Wan thought he was doing what was right as well but that also had an effect on the world's balance.
      *Spoilers for comics*
      Personally for me, I love that Korra leaving the portals open called back to Aang's dilemma with the spirits in The Rift. General Old Iron didn't think there was a place for spirits in the physical world anymore and that saddened Aang. So seeing what Korra did was almost like an answer for Aang. Good or bad, I liked that outcome.

      @@lalalalisa41 but in the end wan was still right not korra wan was truly wise becuase he lived among spirits and knows them much better than nonsense korra so his decision to close portals is right like i said i turf comic evil from both sides fused with each other creating another powerful villian which was not good for both worlds nor blanace remained in spirit world nor material world and what guarantee korra can give that in future further these types of events cannot happen but wan was wise his decisiom was right not shity korra korra is below average avatar just a hype and people r dying to defend her and trying hardly to show her she was best of all but in reality she was worst of all

    Meesh, Dee, both of you have seen Deathly Hallows Part 1. I'd appreciate hearing your opinions on something I picked up when first watching this two-parter. Book 2 & DH Part 1 have a very similar act structure: starting out slow they transition midway through with radically different art styles, & finishing with action. Maybe not now, but nearing the season finally, it would be fun to revisit this & discuss it in further detail. I have some parallels I want to make, but will hold off. Would like to hear if I'm the only one. =^._.^=

    Its crazy how the fire nation is the first nation to be independent , also the fact that one person can be this much influential that the world will be literally divided to the era before him and the era after him ,it kind of reflects real world , like how our world was 360 degree different before and after internet , religion,sports, politics,certain historical events like ww or whatsoever. And also it been confirmed from the symbols of the top of the heads of the lion turtles , the fire lion turtles who gave wan fire was the same one who helped aang!

    Even though these episodes were fun the first time watching, god vs satan trope just doesn’t fit avatar at all and honestly wished they didn’t do this. And these episodes also ruined the pacing for the second half by introducing harmonic convergence so late and makes everything leading up to these episodes pointless. First half might have been boring for a lot of people but it atleast had in interesting aspect about politics and wasn’t badly written like the second half of the season.

    • @jugokove

      i agree that the typical light vs dark god vs satan black and white type villains and heroes get really old really fast-- but i personally still enjoy this origin story for the avatar a lot. I just wish they made raava and vaatu more nuanced lol.... i also agree that the placement of the episodes is weird i think it actually would've been better if it was shown as a flashback in the first two episodes with bits of current events with korra placed in between and then having them remove the whole korra amnesia plotline. would've flowed better TT

    • @PrDrNintendo
      @PrDrNintendo Před měsícem +2

      Personally, I like to think that they're more order/chaos than good/evil, and that only together could they bring true balance, but yeah as presented in the show, it kind of breaks the nuance so dear to this universe
      As for the pacing, it didn't bother me that much, but I get your point. Unfortunately, it's more Nickelodeon's fault than the creators'...
