Aang’s final battle with Ozai is epic, but The Last Agni Kai is peak storytelling. Exquisite in every way.

If you look for an in depth review of the Last Agni Kai, there is a real good review of how the story told more, with the music, colors, and calmness portrayed by Zuko. It's a beautiful piece.

I want to point out that the previous avatars DO NOT tell Aang to kill Ozai. They tell him to act decisively, to bring about justice, to be active to shape the world's destiny, and to do whatever it takes to save the world. While killing Ozai would DEFINITELY have accomplished these four things -- what Aang does ALSO satisfies all of their advice, and maybe even more so in some cases. It's actually... perfect.
"Today, destiny is our friend. I know it." - Probably my favorite line in the whole series, and the music is perfect. The track is called "Iroh's Speech".
Decades later, this remains my favorite TV show. I would recommend to anyone from 8 to 88. It's nearly flawless. It's so good. It resonates with me in a way that's inspired my own creativity for years. Sometimes it feels like the world is a dark and expansive place, and we are united by the way these stories affect us. I really liked experiencing this story, once again with you and this community. I've enjoyed your reaction to this show greatly, and I look forward to the next reaction.
ayo... I've watched soooo many reactions to this show.. no one ever mentioned this, even I always searched in the comment section.. Every time I hear that line, it brought tears and goosebumps to my core. I really love the way "I know it" was delivered by the VA.

“Are we gonna get another book to find Zuko’s mother?”
Kind of, not in the television series! However, there IS a book series that follows the events of the Gaang shortly after the finale. The one where they go on the journey to find Zuko’s mom is called “The Search”, and it’s AMAZING! The story itself even gives us an ending/post show story featuring Azula as well! I can’t recommend it enough. 💕
Zuko and Iroh always make me cry
Azula's classic "green goblin" moment with the mirror. masterfully done. the agni kai is so amazing as well. the music selected for it was epic but even more tragic because its between 2 siblings.
the air nomads are pacifists, but what Aang is struggling to remember is that Gyatso himself took out a whole bunch of firebenders before he was killed. there's a difference between seeking to kill someone, and defending yourself, your home, your family and friends, the WORLD. but Aang was also just a 12 year old kid so it makes sense why he would take the whole pacifist thing to the extreme.
You gotta watch KORRA to find out the secret Gyatso technique.

"Into the Inferno" is my favorite episode of the show. Azula's descent into madness, the Agni Kai music(!), fight choreography, illustration overall, just the most amazing episode.
I really enjoyed watching you fall in love with the show and grow to appreciate it as much as I did. Can't wait for you to experience Korra. Definitely take some time, let ATLA marinate, then go back and rewatch it on your own time so you can relax and not worry about reacting or recording.

About what makes avatar so good: Zuko isnt the strongest firebender, but when he joins the group, you notice how "wise" he acts in his own way, and it does make him one of the better teachers for aang, even if not the best firebender. Its very impressive how the character development went
I still remember being a kid and my nearly busting my butt vaulting over furniture to get back to the TV during the commercial breaks of this finale. Was like 9 or 10 when this show came out so I quite literally grew up with this show for 3 years, no way was I gonna let anything get in the way of watching such an epic conclusion to this journey. And you are right, I am always taken back to that immeasurable feeling of bitter sweet satisfaction when I see others experience this finale for the first time too😊

Someone might have mentioned this already, but Yangchen was actually one of the most brutal and violent avatars, despite being an Air Nomad. That's why Kuruk had to spend so much time "separated" from the real world. He let everyone think he was lazy rather than worry them over the damage control he was doing in the spirit world due to Yangchen's actions. His battles weren't physical ones. But that's why Koh went after Kuruk's girl.

This show is literally my favorite show of all time. The storylines the characters archs the plot the literal characters is absolutely perfect.
They were kids foghting adults in this show but tbh i believed it was an airbender avatar
and roku trying to kill ozai bc he was the resson the war continued after sozin who killed all the air nomads but aang and was killing everyone in their way.
Plus roku feels rage pain and guilt bc he believes it's his fault for aangs people's destruction and the world's destruction not to mention the fact a 12 year old boy was forced to be a fighter in a 100 year war when he was a peacekeepr.
My heart breaks for azula tho. She was 14 snd only had ozai as a mentor. She was shaped into the way she was, altho she's awful, to bc of awful people shaping her into what they want.
She wanted her mother's love who was horrified by her her like she said at the beach, iroh only focused on zuko, so she was desperate for a parents love to show her worth to anybody.
Everybody was so quick to call her a monster so i don't blame her for becoming one.
I see a little girl who the family turned their back on finally made her snap and cry for a love she so desperately became perfect for that she never got.
I never reas the comics but i heard she has her own redemption arc.
I wish iroh saw a little girl that desperately needed saving but maybe he tried but ozai already ruined her into who she is.
It broke my heart for zuko but he at least got away and got help. Azula was left all alone wishing she had what zuko got. Love from another.

loved your reactions to this wonderful series! This finale is one of my favorites ever... I tear up every time when I see "The End". ( honestly... as a kid watching the re-run finale of MASH with my dad is the only thing to equal it!)
This finale really is incredible, so many moments of goosebumps, so many beautifully crafted moments, so many incredible pay-offs, I never grow tired of it, always gets me emotional. I think my favourite moment has to the Agni Kai though, everything about that battle is perfection. The whole build-up throughout the show between Zuko and Azula that has lead us to this moment, the gorgeous colors, the somber music, the whole melancholic tone that highlights how this isnt just an epic final battle but a tragic duel between two siblings, forced against eachother by their upbringing. Katara's clutch is also absolutely amazing. And Azula's final scream always gets me, it's so gutteral and vulnerable
That and the reuniting of Zuko and Iroh, always hits hard and gets me teary-eyed. Beautiful scene
I'm impressed you remembered the lion-turtle from the picture all the way back in the library since that was so so long ago and the only time the lion-turtle is foreshadowed or mentioned, good memory
And I love just how *powerful* the fire looks and feels throughout Sozin's Comet, the energetic colors, the sounds, making it feel like the fire is truly alive, absolutely breathtaking.
Was a blast following you through this journey! Love how invested you got in the show, how attentive you are to even smaller details, how you picked up on the shows themes really well and I loved your sense of humour with the characters, their interactions and everything else. What a wild ride, thanks for all the entertainment and hyped for Korra!

the avatar is every single bender. so even though Aang was born an air nomad, because he is the avatar, he is also a waterbender, an earthbender, and a firebender.

I though the same too, of all the past avatars the only faces they show was kyoshi and roku ,so they're probably the ones controlling that state.

I have the same feeling as you when it comes to ATLA. I love watching new reactions from people because it's refreshing and we re-became innocent again as the 1st time we saw it. There are new analyzes/theories that we discover too.
Now, Legend of Korra is for elder teens/young adults, it's not the same audience than ATLA, keep this in mind. Also, it's the sequel and it's the only way to know what happened to ATLA's characters too.

i remember when i was a kid i used to watched this show in my neighbors TV but i now i can watch it on replay anytime i want and it still feels like the first time i saw it, the ending is so beautiful and very intense, although i would still preferably like if Aang kill Ozai haha

22:28 Kuruk is... Not exactly telling the full story here, to say the least - I HIGHLY recommend the Kyoshi novels, they're a fantastic expansion to the Avatar-verse, and they uncover a bit about Kuruk and what he was up to during those "good times" in the world.
When I finished watching this show many, many years ago, I remember feeling the sense of loss, the sense that I have experienced something you experience only once in a lifetime. All these many years later, it remains the best animated series I have ever seen. It is not the best in every single thing, but it is the best at putting everything together perfectly.

You're so right about the fans watching reactors to just feel a glimpse of the hype we once felt and Avatar never fails at that. And even rewatching it now, I still end up with that post show depression 🥲
Fun fact: I've read some of the comics at this point and there is one with the story of Zuko looking for his mother. I'm not gonna say anything, but if you have some time to spare, it's really interesting and gives Zuko and his family so much more backstory and depth 😊
And I really hope you're gonna watch the Legend of Korra, it has very controversial reception and yes, it's not reaching the level of ATLA, BUT it's still amazing, great character arcs, great villains, you get a glimpse of some more Gaang content and just more world building and lore. I was also apprehensive starting it, but I really enjoyed it in the end and probably would've regretted it not giving it a chance, just adjust your expectations a little before starting it 😊
