The rest of the series is really just non stop amazing action. Not much story, just straight amazing action and choreography. I'd recommend but wanted to set expectations. Either way, enjoy your reactions ❤
To be honest there aren't many emotional pulls in the Wick series, it's mainly Wick trying to get back out of the "game." They introduce new characters who are either trying to kill Wick, are old friends of his, or both. The series is mainly all about flashy action sequences and great stunts. If this one wasn't your cup of tea, the others probably won't be either, as this is the best one, followed by JW4.

Alot more of the "story" part comes out in next movie. It's a very large, very involved world that these people live in...and as you heard in this one, there are rules...and those rules can't be broken without consequences.

The dog dying is a huge part of the movie, literally his wife’s final gift to him. I can’t believe they would put that in the synopsis 😭 not your fault though and still loved the reaction!

Yup... I stopped watching the reaction after less than a minute. One of the main reasons anyone watches reactions to this film, and they basically ruined it before they even started. They may as well wade into Star Wars knowing who Vader is.

John Wick was so refreshing. In an era of action movies where every fight scene was shaky-cam and nonstop cuts, here was a movie that was well choreographed and actually let you SEE the action.

Fun fact, there was a piece of paper on the cage of the dog at the end in the shelter. On the paper it said "To be put down", he couldnt save his own dog, so he saved his new one from death. Now they both have a second chance.

I disagree. The dog was placed in front of John so it was the first thing he saw when he came to. The trail of blood was there because it was dripping from her broken skull. IMHO

@@VF31RulesThe blood trail is too thick & constant, meaning the dog crawled to him! It shows us how the dog loved his owner as much as John loved Daisy;). If they picked her up & placed her there, the blood would be very sporadic, thin & in drops. This blood trail shows she was lower to the ground & u can tell she crawled/dragged herself to him by the drag marks. Also, if they picked her up, most of the blood could’ve/would’ve ended up on themselves instead of the floor. So in my opinion, she crawled to the owner she loved & loved her back. It also has a far greater impact, adds another level, to the story:)

Synopses, despite them being public, are not intended for the future audience at all. So, you can't really blame the filmmakers. A synopsis is meant to serve as a hook for producers, studio readers, etc., before they read the full-length screenplay. As a screenwriter myself, I'm not thinking about the audience at all when I'm writing a synopsis. I'm trying to get my script sold and produced. And in order to that, you have to include the juicy parts of the story in your synopsis. They don't mention the dog at all in the actual marketing logline for the film.

The storyline you’re looking for unfolds in 2, 3 & 4
John Wick has a special place in my heart because I watched that movie with my uncle (Dad's older brother) when he was came over to visit. This was waaay back in 2015. He lived out of state and we were never really close, but I had just put the movie on and he asked if he could join me; I said sure. We bonded over this movie and talked action films, his time in the army, places he'd been to, music, sports, my dreams in life, for hours after. He passed away the very next week.
Viggo was left off the hook and he had to goof by killing one of his only friends. LOL
Man’s had mercy handed to him on a silver platter and just had to paint it with blood

Beagle puppy, "Daisy" is male dog named Andy. During filming horrible scene of Daisy's death, one (actor) of Iosef's goons was in tears that Chad had to stopped filming. Actor holding and hugging Andy after each take. Someone mentioned Andy's name was switched to Wick. Someone adopted Andy (Wick) after scene was completed. Last that I heard of Andy (Wick), he is still living well today.
Gold coins are the currency for John Wick's world of assassins. Hotel is Continental Hotel, place for those who worked in business of assassin. Winston (Ian McShane) stated major rule at Continental, "business done on the property" Penalty for violation is Perkins faced her execution for violating that rule.

I don't even watch trailers for longer than 30 seconds anymore, everything after 30 seconds is the plot of the movie lol... Sometimes my wife and I will be in the room when Netflix autoplays trailers and when it's over we always go, "Well that was a good movie" lol no need to watch it anymore, saw literally everything that happens.

Oh also if it would help to ease the pain a little, obviously no animals/pets really gets harmed in films but the guy that "allegedly" you hear kill the dog, well he cried so much that he couldn't sleep, eat or anything so he adopted that Beagle that was used for his new pet.

In response to being stabbed being unnecessary
When Viggo pulled out the knife, the advantage was in his favour. So, to turn it against him, John had to disarm him and have a hold of it. During the grapple, Viggo had his left arm to John's shoulder, preventing him from headbutting and John's hands were on Viggo's arm, not allowing John enough leverage to maneuver the knife out of his hand. The moment he lifts even one of his hands meant he would be stabbed as he's holding back the knife with full force from both hands. Their positions were too far for him to kick Viggo, moreover, it would make John lose his balance, get stabbed. The only way out of the grapple would be him being stabbed, so John pushes Viggo's arm towards a non-vital region, the previous wound (the bleeding would have killed him but it wont be as serious as internal bleeding in a vital organ) in order to readjust his hold on Viggo's arm, dislocate the elbow and take the knife, giving him the advantage

There's some videos on taran tactical's youtube channel of Keanu Reeves doing all the training. He pretty much did all of the stunts and spent months weapon training to make it all look legit. Like speed reloads. Since typical action movies have unlimited ammo cheats this is basically the first one where people saw tactical reloads.
Came here for this comment. Not sure if it's 100% accurate or not, but I saw someone who said you can actually count the # of bullets he fires before needing to reload. AMAZING!

Heartbreaking fact but in Daisy’s dying moments she slowly crawled her way back to John to be with him…there’s a little blood trail in that scene…
Out of all the John Wick movies, this one is my least favorite. I have a few dogs at home myself and I can’t watch or even try to think of the movie and that scene anymore because I’ll hyperventilate and have a panic attack. I love dogs period and seeing an innocent sweet bean puppy being killed in cold blood is agonizing to watch, I just can’t do it.
It doesn’t help the fact that when I was a younger I had a Shi Tzu named Daisy for two years, my Mom gave her away and after that I never saw her again. That was over 14 years ago, I’m sure by now she’s long passed, but from the bottom of my heart I hope that her new owners gave her a wonderful life. I’m sure she forgot about me, but I’ll never forget her
Spend everyday with your dogs, cats, gerbils, snakes whatever pet you have as if it were your last. You never know when they’ll be taken from you one way or the other.

Fun fact. The little guy who plays the head of the cleaning service was in the iconic 70s NYC gang movie called The Warriors. Even if you don't review it for the channel, you'll want to see it just for the entertainment. John Wick isn't high cinema, but each movie is very entertaining and a fun thrill ride. If you want to see his origin story and his eclectic friends and villains, please see the other three.
Keanu went through EXTENSIVE tactical training with weapons experts (there are a few videos on YT showing him training). He looks comfortable with weapons because he IS.
I believe the pitty that John takes with him at the end was, in fact, Keanu's IRL puppy.
If you didn't quite pick up on it, the rules of the Continental state that you cannot perform "work" on Continental grounds. No killing. It works as a safe haven and base of operations for the assassin community for this reason alone. Perkins violated that rule when she went after John, and that's the why John and Harry did NOT kill her there. "Catch and release" meant keep her alive and let her go when John's business there was done, following the rules of Continental. Killing Harry and attempting to kill John in violation of the rules brought Ms. Perkins' membership in the Continental to an abrupt and permanent end. Per Management.
My personal opinion: Ratings are unnecessary and annoying. They feel forced, because they are. You feel like you have an obligation to choose (is it a 6, or a 7? What's the difference? I don't know...), and it's meaningless. It adds nothing to the reaction. Relax, react, review. Enjoy yourself. I don't care if you give it an 8 or a 9. I just want to watch you experience it. I mean, you can say you liked it, loved it, or hated it, or meh. Your opinion matters, of course, but don't feel the need to assign a numeric value to a visceral, mental, emotional experience. :)
Alot of people miss the connection of when John is tearing up the "foundation" in his basement to when viggo is saying he laid the foundation

Poke around CZcams and watch Keanu training at Taran Butler's shooting schools. Taran is a world champion professional competitive shooter, he taught Keanu in 3-Gun discipline (rifle, pistol, shotgun) including reloads, clearing malfunctions, and transitions between weapons. Total badass.
Fun fact the original name for the john wick franchise was Scorn and Keanu Reeves kept calling it John Wick so much that the director and writers just changed the name to John Wick

I actually read once, that when they did the scene where they killed the dog, one of the actors who played one of the Russian thugs in the movie, I think the one who killed the dog of Daisy in the movie, felt so bad for hurting the dog for the movie scene, that when they yelled cut, he picked up the dog, to make sure that the dog who played Daisy in the movie, wasn’t hurt, trying to be sweet and to give the dog love. So, I think that, behind all 4 of the John Wick movies, that they all love dogs, especially the actors from the first movie, and from the sequels, with John Wick 2, 3, and 4. And well, I also don’t know, if you guys did or didn’t know this. But 2 actors from the John Wick franchise, who helped bring the franchise to life, 2 John Wick stars have passed away, and we will never see them again, in any other movie, as they had immense talent who helped bring, the John Wick franchise to life. And the first John Wick star to pass away, his name was Michael Nyqvist, he played Viggo in the first John Wick movie, and he passed away in June of 2017 at just 56 years old, within 4 months after the second John Wick movie was released here in the USA in February of 2017. And over a year ago, we lost another John Wick star, who played the desk clerk at the hotel of the continental, and his name was, Lance Reddick. And the movies of John Wick, helped him stand out as an actor, and he passed away in March of last year, literally one week before, John Wick: Chapter 4 was scheduled to be released.
Marcus only accepted the contract on John AFTER Viggo told him it wasn't exclusive. He agreed with the express purpose of protecting John.

Marcus took the job because he knew that it would just be offered to another sniper. That's what my head canon tells me anyway.
Hiding in plain sight. That way he could keep an eye on John, and give him a hand, with no suspicion from Viggo.
A couple of things most don't notice the first couple of watch throughs, when the guard at the Red Circle tells him how much weight he lost he is telling John how many guards are inside, and the Hotel Doctor played the Key Maker in the Matrix films.
Fun fact: The director of John Wick was the late Brandon Lee's double in The Crow
The reason he stabbed himself was so he could use the knife stuck in his abdomen for extra leverage when he broke Viggo’s arm, which is a lot harder to do than most people think. You can’t just grab someone’s arm and bend it too far back, especially when you’re beat up, bleeding, and exhausted. With Viggo’s hand stuck and the knife acting as a lever and his body to anchor it in place, though, it’d be a lot easier.
It was also stupidly dramatic and he probably could have done it without stabbing himself, but that’s not nearly as badass
There is one detail about the drifting scene at the air-strip that I havn't seen anyone notice.
The dog stuff which are in the car when he is at the gas station are no longer in the car.
While this is due to the stunt work and that they don't want anything flying around, it can be used to reason that he left the dog somewhere safe before he went crazy with the drifting.

You can read that stuff for your private viewing, but when you do reactions, that's why people tune in, to SEE their reactions to the good parts and their favorite scenes. That's like people watching Star Wars out of release order and starting with Episode One, HELL, you ruin the biggest scene and payoff in Strikes Back! 🤦🏽♂
When John stabbed Viggo between the right clavicle and the trapezius, the tip of the knife pierced the aorta, causing Viggo to bleed out internally. This puts pressure on the diaphragm in turn causing Viggo to suffocate, as well as from loss of blood. And I am pretty sure it would have been quite painful. (Don't ask me how I know this.)
Keanu trained for the Matrix, and he trained more for this movie. He is a humanitarian, and quite a nice person in real life. He lives in NYC, and while that was a relatively safe place in the past, not so much anymore. I would expect that he has moved since. However, he used to shop at a local bodega, or other stores, and would take the subway; all without a protection detail. I believe he is self-aware and secure in himself to the point that he isn't concerned for his own safety.
0:39 IMO John Wick is one of those movies where reading _anything_ about it beforehand spoils the mystery of the first half of the movie, because now you're expecting what should've been a flurry of sucker punches.
I love that the Allstate Mayhem guy is in this movie. A great casting choice if you ask me. I wish that All State insurance would have had a John Wick themed commercial though.

That scene where he stabs the guy in the jaw looking him straight in the eye watching the life go out of them has to be 1 of the coldest bad ass scene in movies, it just tells me that when assassins have a hit to do their personality just turns robotic & I don't think he sees them as people, he's just doing what needs done to get his target, he played this character so fucking good.

You get the entire background of the underworld how to operate the rules they have to follow without me giving away too much. Lots of interesting lore in the JW universe; that phrase is used in two scenarios: a threat of future violence, or an acknowledgment from one assassin to the next that they are all going to the same place. It’s this awareness that underpins the mutual respect most assassins share in John Wick’s world.
I always say if they bring a pet into the film, then there's the plot. 😂 promise I'm not laughing for the murder of the dog but knowing the plot.
Adressing the allowed stabbing from the boss fight with Viggo at the end: John was already injured in the same spot and had taken the drug the doc had given him that said the stiches would tear but he would have full function for the moment.

Not sure if its been said but the lighting in this movie is also a massive factor. When its Green/Blue, John holds the advantage. When its red, his enemies hold the advantage. And when its blue and red/purple, John's fate is uncertain. Also the people who care about him or the ones he cares about, are usually in a golden/yellow light. With that being said, when he enters the Continental Bar for the first time, there are all types of reds/greens/yellows there. Meaning its a safe harbor but threat is still close.

An ancient order called Assa-sins used to accept only gold as payment (weight in gold) for their services such as espionage, murder, or counterintelligence. It adds to the believability of the movie since there is precedence in real history. Some even argue that this is the origin of the Beggars Guild in China's past as well as the Ninja of Japan. If I may add a personal note, people who do work in military, intelligence and kill or capture squads must keep their feelings firewalled so they don't get in the way of what must be done.
Keanu Reeves trained HARD for this movie. You should check out him training for John Wick 2 with competition shooter, Taran Butler of Taran Tactical. The subsequent movies delve deeper into the mob underworld that he fell back into.

Some argue that the sequels are unnecessary, but if you like action and lore (and there is lore), the extension of how the secret society goes is deep.
I believe that the dog at the end is actually Keanu's dog. Also, that dog's cage had a note on it that he was scheduled to be put down the next day.
its not his dog. they where all stunt dogs even the one at the end. Keanu said in interviews he has no pets but all the dogs on the movie set where really nice.
there was actually 2 bitbulls the first being burton(which keanu called bubba on set) then in parabellum the dog actor was called Cha Cha and was actually a female dog.
You should see the video where he is at an actual shooting range, preparing for the movie... Let's just say he broke the record, in true John wick fashion, but real life... His gun play in off the charts.
