- Is this an SG Custom? Or is it a Les Paul Custom? This is from our good friends at @gibsonguitar, it is a 1963 Les Paul/SG Custom Reissue M2M (Made to Measure) Hardtail.
In 1961, Gibson’s Les Paul guitar was revamped into an all-mahogany, double-cutaway version that would eventually be called the SG. This Custom Shop reissue of the 1963 Les Paul Custom hardtail pays tribute to the final year this body shape would have Les Paul’s signature attached. An authentic 60s neck carve and Custombucker Alnico III pickups ensure this Custom Shop creation duplicates the sound and playability of the original classic.

I have a 3-humbucker '75 Les Paul Standard. Added the 3rd. pickup myself back in the day.

An absolutely beautiful guitar that sounds great too. Epiphone have turned out some good replicas of these but also some not so good ones when production moved to China initially.
Watching this in 2023 and seeing this guy innocently wish a happy 2021 not knowing what was about to happen that year.

Cool vid man, great info. Recently got an epiphone copy of that exact model, gold grover tuners, alnico pickups, thinks it's a 90's model, anyone know more?Must do a vid on that, so good to play, the attack is unreal, clean tones to die for, all the overdrive classic tones down but I find myself playing it clean and getting an early blues vibe all the way to motown. Gotta great low sustain that just sits under the notes, pushes me in unexpected directions, secret weapon shizzle for writing, love to hear from anyone with similar ...

What pickups are original to this 80's guitar?
In the 1980's, you would probably find T-Tops or Shaw humbuckers on SGs.

He was going through a divorce and he didnt want his soon to be ex wife to get a piece of it 😂 thats the true story. I think the 64 has the chunky round C neck.. 3 HB’s I like middle phase flipped, and a blend knob to bring it in any position. Toggle wired normal.
Tune the guitar properly.
You've got a good ear. l could hear that slow harmonic wobble that lingered for a couple of seconds every time he strummed the final chord.
