  • We really think the KTM 300XC is an amazing trail bike and feel it does everything so very well (with a few mods of course). Here we build one of the best ever and it landed on the cover for Dirt Bike Magazine!

    What a gorgeous bike! I regret getting my 2019 xcw tpi nothing but problems. Should have gotten a 2018 Carb.

    Can you speak to the difference in power valve power delivery on the 17/18 vs the 19 300 xc? I know they updated the power valve between the two generations and curious if this is noticeable

    That's a great looking bike. Your 300's always run so smooth, it makes it difficult to want to switch to TPI.

      Ride a TPI and you will change your mind!!

    • @jeff40
      @jeff40 Před 3 lety

      @Rick Carley I agree and I've heard that after you ride a tpi that you would change your mind?! I'm not so sure about that with myself anyhow? I mean a nearly $10k bike but to make it run as well as a carb bike you still have to spend $700+ for a different ECU & I prefer a simple self contained smart carb 2 and although I have a Keihin 36mm. carb on my 2011 ktm 300 XC I've ridden a 2014 and a 2015 with the smart carb 2 and they both ran very,very well! KTM brought the TPI out due to Euro emission standard's but they never said that their TPI bikes run better? I'm a carbureted 2- stroke fan for life and at 50 years old I'm quite content!

    Nice bike ,I have a few of these TX / EXC ,the TX came with a Mikuni which I wasn’t a fan of ,the JD jetting kit as you say is the best way to go which improved the Mikuni , I then fitted an aftermarket head from two stroke performance here in OZ which made a big difference ,the keihen I fitted later on this bike is still better in my opinion but if I was on a strict budget a JD jetting kit in the Mikuni and probably any aftermarket head lol fixes up 90 % of the complaints laid at the Mikuni ,TPI is the future but these carbed 300 s deserve all the praise they get ,cheersd

      I am still running the Mikuni on my 17 300XC, Vforce4, JD jet kit and JD jet block gasket is a must. Most people forget or don’t know to change the jet block gasket. My bike runes phenomenal. Everyone who rides it says the same. I’m sure every bike is different. I just wanted to mention the not very much talked about jet block gasket upgrade. I bet many people have trashed the stock carb just because of this. I love this channel 👍

      J S , lol forgot about the jet block gasket , lot of people bashed the Mikuni , once I changed the head I realised KTM was the real culprit lol ,I have used Keihen for 40 years , hard to teach an old dog new tricks , but Mikuni is a good carburettor, cheersd

    Asking what you would do?? Have the chance to pick up a clean 2019 300 XC with 87 hrs or put my name on the list for a 2022 300 XC and hope to see it June or July, you think the TPI is far enough along to trust it or would you wait another year or two, money not a deciding factor just want a reliable bike

      I have a 2019 300xc @145hrs with Lectron carb, s3 head, vforce reeds, 300sx cdi, fmf fatty/2.0 turbinecore. The bike pulls hard and have not thought about selling it once. Typically based on hours I would have sold and bought a new bike already. Have rode new TPI in both husky and Ktm, still like my carb better.

  • @jeff40
    @jeff40 Před 3 lety

    My all time favorite dirt bike. I have a 2011 KTM-300xc and still love it! My 2011 was the last year that the XC had the rear PDS shock so I'm going to keep it as long as possible. I now weigh 205Ibs. without gear so I'll have to get stiffer spring's but not a big deal. To be honest I never rode a TPI bike but I know KTM brought the TPI bikes out due to Euro 4 or 5 emissions which sucks! I'm going to put a Technology Elevated Smart Carb 2 on my Katoom 300xc next along with stiffer spring's.

    Be interesting to see how you can make a TPI run with remapping and new head. TSP kit, or GET ECU with adjusted fuel and ignition mapping.

    • @MXJEFF94
      @MXJEFF94 Před 4 lety +2

      I have a 2020 TEi Husky 300. I get a new bike every year and have had them all (350/ 450/ 300's with carb). The 2020 TPi's are phenomenal and need NOTHING. They run strong.

    • @jeff40
      @jeff40 Před 3 lety

      Injection is the norm for 4-stroke bikes but it's most definitely not perfected with the 2-strokes yet! Although if you can afford a new bike every year I guess it doesn't matter all that much.

    KTM leaned out the TPI bikes for emissions, they run much better with a reflash of the ECU (TSP), Coober ECU, or GET ECU.

    So the question is the last review was a ktm366exc and u called it an old guys bike, even thou the WESS rider use mostly 350s for there open events, so obviously u didn't say it. but this would be the other old guys bike because the 300 is the other bike the WESS pros ride??????
