    Its crazy hearing your perspective. I'm 52 and was 4 when I started riding and have never ridden a TPI 2 stroke!

      Thanks for watching! Tpi is mostly just smoother! Both bikes are a blast! Tpi is nice cuz I hate messing with jets and mixing gas! But in the end of the day I'll ride anything and have a good time!!

      Thanks! Both bikes are amazing! Tpi is just smoother and lugs a bit better! Also no jetting required which is the best part haha! If your ever out riding in utah I'll let ya try her out!

    Had my suspension done on my 2020 300xc tpi. I kept it an air fork, but I had it revalved and did up for my weight. The stuff was decent stock, but dude now it’s amazing. I’m glad my suspension guy talked me into staying air base dropping a bunch of money on a spring conversion. He killed it and they’re amazing now. Killer. I ride in East Tennessee. A lot of mountain single track, rocks, roots, bunch of really hard stuff, technical single track. I can tweak the air pressure a bit depending on what I’m riding and it’s spot on.

    • @utmx
      @utmx  Před 2 lety

      That's awesome I wanna do that to my bike! I fly when it's smooth and I ride decent when it gets rough but my suspension just isn't set up for me yet so that's where I feel it when it gets super rocky or sudden hits. Coming out of turns I can feel it wanting to wash out slightly.. but so much better than my kx 450!

      @@utmx right! A good tuner can make that air fork really good for a lot less money than a spring conversion. When I took mine to my guy I was dead set on doing the kyb conversion and he told me “dude I can make that fork and shock just as good for far less money and keep it air.” So I knew he was a WP master and went with it. Best decision I ever made. It’s spot on.

      @@TagTeamDream I’m sure motoexperts can do it no issue. Any tuner that’s really good with WP can. Some tuners are better on certain brands and some can kill any set up. My guy asked me my weight, riding ability, riding style, and what I rode. Revalved the forks and shock for my weight and when I put it back on the bike I shit you not I didn’t have to touch anything. It was perfect on my base setting for normal technical single track. He wrote down settings for hard enduro stuff to try and also for faster stuff. Since then I have tried every setting for every scenario and they’ve been spot on. Couldn’t be happier. I whole heartedly believe that a good suspension set up catered to you is the best money you can spend.

    On my 2018 TX 300 I fitted a keihen carb with a Stic module installed and a JD jetting kit ,if you love carbed 2 strokes this is a great option ,I don’t do much elevation and ride from 5deg C to 35 deg C ,once I dialled it in 1 /2 years ago I haven’t had to touch it.I have ridden a 2020 TPI a few times and was impressed with it but I have no intention of selling this carbed bike as this “feels better to me” not very scientific I know but I am hooked on it ,there are other options out here ,I tried the lectron and tinkered with but I didn’t get on with it ,other people have had good experiences with it and Smartcarb as well,I also have a 2018 250 exc and fitted a keihen carb ,Stic module and JD jetting kit ,I am running a 36 mm keihen which runs really good ,I run a 38 mm in the 300 ,if you are an old school guy and don’t do huge elevation this is a great option ,been riding since the early 80,s this is the best setup I have found .just my 2 cents worth.👍

    • @utmx
      @utmx  Před 2 lety

      That's a great setup you have going on! I do love the feel of a carb but I change elevation a ton and I'm to lazy to change my jetting haha. Here in Utah I'll be low in the desert one week and up the top of a mountain the next!

    • @dereknagy4072
      @dereknagy4072 Před 2 lety

      @@utmx ,lectron or smartcarb for big elevation changes ,the advantage of the Stic module is it’s easy to tune and the Stic module produces a strong signal, the bike starts very easily compared to other setups ,some of my mates reckon it’s possessed when u hit the kill button u have to hold it longer than normal to kill it as it wants to keep running ,the power is smooth and ramps up quickly ,carburetor size is a factor I run 36 mm on my 250, 38 mm on my 300 ,at the end of the day it’s how u tune it and the type of riding you do ie elevation changes ,temp ,humidity ,whether u ride mostly part throttle or open flat out riding ,everything is a compromise . If I was going to buy a TPI bike I would remove the injectors out of the barrel and relocate them in an aftermarket throttle body more like the way a traditional carb bike is fueled disconnect the oil injection and go back to running premix , but then it’s easier to run the setup I have ,been riding two strokes since 1982 and this setup I have for me is the best,cheers derek.

    Have also ridden both, a correctly jetted carb feels more on it's toes and aggressive to small throttle inputs and "sharper" as a result, a bit like the red spring vs. a yellow spring in the power valve. The TPI is smooth and more input = output at the throttle. The carb feels more "alive" but the TPI is very effective in gnarly terrain and it is probably more "correct". As you noted, the TPI throttle pull is nice and light. Don't let my "smooth" comments mislead, the TPI does not lack for power. Jab that TPI's throttle and ya better be pointed in the right direction - LOL
    I wager one could tune a TPI to be more responsive to small throttle openings like a carb is if they wanted to. The question is why bother? The TPI is quite nice in the nasty stuff right out of the box. Not a hater of either, their personalities are just a little different. My bike is an '18 300 XC with a Lectron (with the soft spring in place) on it, I love it lots and never have to mess with jetting after initial setup regardless of where I ride, and I live in Colorado.
    I love these new breed 250/300 two strokes in general, they are the favorite dirt bikes I have ever ridden. The forks are better on the newer KTM bikes vs. my '18 (before I put a "Glide Kit" in the forks), that is the biggest improvement. Both the new XC-W and TX TPI powered bikes I rode had very nice stock suspension, right out of the box, and they both ran great.

    I love the carb bikes. TPI more stuff to go wrong. A well tuned carb is really hard to beat! I’ve had fi 4 stroke bikes and they were good but tuning them is a pain. On a 2T unless I’m changing altitude a lot I’ll take the carb.

      Carb bikes can be great if you know how to tune. Tpi is great for guys that don't know how or don't wanna worry about it! My tpi has 62 hrs and has had 0 issues. Both bikes are great and I'd take either! There is something awesome about a good carb bike😜

    Alot of guys like the carb models because they don't tug as much creating arm fatigue quicker but once you get used to the tpi and your hips and leg grips adjust, the carb models start to feel dated and sluggish when you go back.
