How I Make Practical Effects for Stop Motion

  • In this his video I will show you how I created practical effects for my stop motion animations.
Practical effects are visual effects used in filmmaking that use physical in camorra effects as opposed to computer generated imagery.

I was planning on making this video lot longer, but after writing the script I realized that the concept is very basic. This method of creating practical effects is not necessarily the best way to do it. It is just how I do it. I am constantly finding better ways of creating practical effects. For example, when I started animating this video, I realized that it made no difference if I drew colored marker on the paper effects. Up until this point I would always outline my paper effects with colored marker, but apparently it is impossible to tell the difference between a paper affect with marker and without marker! Anyway, the point is that this tutorial could quickly become outdated as I find better ways to create a practical effects. I hope you enjoy the video!

Nice tutorial. The ‘intensity’ setting is called iso and controls the brightness while the shutter controls the amount of light coming in. This is very useful for various things. For example, if you want to do motion blur you’d turn up the shutter speed and turn down the iso ( I think I explained that to you on one of your streams once). I adapted this technique from both you and DankMotionsStudios5. Keep it up.
