- Dustin Poirier is a fighter who has evolved in front of our eyes. This video will analyze how he went from taking everything personally to becoming mentally bulletproof.
While Poirier vs Chandler may have just seemed like a classic Poirier barnburner, it actually highlights stoicism in action. Poirier vs Mcgregor 3 is also a perfect example of this. The Poirier vs Chandler fight shows how far Dustin has come, while the Poirier vs Chandler full fight is a perfect example of how great he has become.
This Dustin Poirier documentary analyzes clips ranging from Dustin Poirier interview to Dustin Poirier boxing. From not letting trash talk effect him, to acting at his best while his opponent is cheating, to doing good in the world, Dustin Poirier is a great role model and example of stoicism in action. Included: Dustin Poirier vs Charles Oliviera and Dustin Poirier vs Michael Chandler.
These clips are taken from both Dustin poirier interview and his podcast appearances.
The clip analyzing Dustin Poirier post fight interview also helps illustrate how stoic he has become.
Stoicism is an ancient Greek school of philosophy founded at Athens by Zeno of Citium. It offers practical wisdom in mastering ourselves and conquering adversity. This series seeks to highlight how it is used in action through well known MMA fighters. The clearest example of this is through dustin poirier vs conor mcgregor, and their trilogy.

That's cool man💯

@@jakeevans5233 your making me nauseous Lol jk
💎
Honestly, I said during fight 3: Poirier going from fight 1: 'I've never disliked somebody that much that I've ever fought' while McGregor was 'Business is never personal, it can be ruthless, it can be cruel, but it is never personal'. Fast forward to fight 3 and Poirier is 'Nah, straight business' post McGregor knockout while McGregor's embarrassing himself with 'Ya woife, is ya hoosband'. It was so telling of both men's trajectories.
I didn't watch the whole thing yet so I don't know if this gets touched upon in the video, but for fight 1 vs Conor, Dustin was terrified of him too. Much harder to scare a man who is truly stoic. And healthy fear of your opponent is a good thing because it will prevent you from becoming too cocky, but too much fear and you've already lost before you even enter the cage
lmao “ya woife is ya hoesband” 🤣
He didn’t knock out conor in the third, conor broke his ankle
@@KM-iv9xy I think it was less fear and more of Dustin getting himself worked up over Conor's words. When he got hit he tried to cover but left an opening for Conor to loop his left around Dustin's guard.
Dustin said in the second fight when he tasted the power again he realized he could survive it if he didn't panic and stayed on task. Composure made a huge difference for him.
It's crazy how calm Dustin stays in huge stress potential moments. A true fighter
💎 really love how you pick a fighter to exemplify a topic and also pick cases that are very distinct from fighting, like in this one with Edison, to make the argument even stronger 💎
I'm glad you liked that! I realized what helped me most in my own life was seeing a common thread from two very different stories. It helped me solidify an idea as evident, and not just a fluke.
@@PsychologyOfTheFight love that, something to take for my life as well. and also u can make a case for that with geniuses combining two different things into one, like da Vinci did with math and art, or Steve Jobs combining art and tech on Apple
@@PsychologyOfTheFight any books you recommend?
💎💎💎 my guy never fails to put out some heat. Poirier is my favourite fighter and you definitely represented his character and attitude accurately. Thank you bro!
I agree! Poirier is in several of my videos, even if they're not centered around him, as a great example of what to do and how to be. Thank YOU for the kind words! It means a ton.
Stoicism helped me overcome jealousy, envy, an inferiority complex, and comparing myself to others. No matter how much I accomplished I always focused on the things I wasn't able to accomplish. The more successful I became in life the more insecure. My mind would play these tricks on me e.g., I wasn't good enough to get into engineering or medical school therefore I must be a failure. This was the constant mindset. I don't battle with that anymore I just do my absolute best now in whatever I am trying to pursue. The is the life I've been granted and this is where my bar of potential is at. I will continue to work as hard as I possibly can. So whatever my best efforts can offer I am content with that. We don't control all the variables in Iife only some of them. It is what it is. I am grateful.
Very good content brother! Dustin Poirier's story is an inspiration. 💎💎💎
That's amazing to hear man, and you will always be successful at whatever you pursue if you truly try your hardest. Keep goin brotha
@@PsychologyOfTheFight Thanks brother same to you 🙏🏻💪

Demetrious Johnson would be a great topic, he also has a big trilogy coming up!
Thank you for the great recommendation!
it was obvious that his salon hair was the reason he's a beast now.
Cool video but you forgot the fact he grew out salon quality hair .
You're right. Thank you
This is the idealogy I find myself relating to the most. Love being stoic and I try to be
Funny how the roles have completely shifted since their first fight. Dustin is now a stoic maestro at his craft while Conor is an impulsive and insecure bully who can't stand the fact that Dustin has now surpassed him.
My favorite fighter. He's a beast. Always an underdog, but never out of a fight.
Wow the fact that the fight wasn't paused multiple times with what Chandler did now that I'm seeing the footage means that the ref wasn't very attentive.
Keep making these videos man, they are so good
Life changing 💎 . Needed this
Exceptional content dude. You are criminaly underrated💎
Thank you brotha! I think so too!! But all I can do is keep improving!

Can’t get enough of this video Brother !! 👏👍🙏
Blessed to see this man fighting...one of my favorites of all times.
Fantastic video 🎄👏👏👏
great video on my favorite fighter, always good to see love for him and what he does💎💎💎
( 2:05 ) Dustin looks like a gow3 kratos if he was battling starvation right there
💎 i love the exploration of psychology through fighters and their stories and careers the 2 are surprisingly intertwined. Plz do more
I will keep at it, as I love it! Who would you like to see next? Or I guess another question is what concept would you like explored through a fighter?
Loved the video. Keep it up 💎

💎 loved the vid
💎 another great video and such a motivated one. Keep them coming
Thank you again!! I will do my best! Did you prefer the stoicism stuff or the self improvement?
🔷 great video exploring part of what makes Dustin so damn great. A lot of people wrote him off so many times but that guy is all class and still forcing himself to learn, adapt, and get better every fight. I still see him becoming champ. He may even be well beyond his prime by the time it happens. But he is like the Michael Bisping of his weight class. One eye? No knees? Beyond your prime? Written off time and time again? Good. Will make winning the belt all the sweeter victory.
Nice Video
💎 Thanks for this 🔥
You are very welcome!
💎💎💎💎💎 you’re the man ! Top tier content back to back!
Appreciate you mucho my friend! I got another one I'm trying to put out this week too! Glad you're enjoying em
💎 awesome video. Thanks brother
Thank you! You are very welcome brother
I think for me difficult part has been my emotions towards people who hasn't been kind to me, even when I have been there for them every time. A strong sense of resentment and hurt which I want to channelize.....🔷🔷🔷. Your Work is actually very very good, Keep Posting man.
That's the difficult part for everyone, brotha. Don't be so hard on yourself.

Thank you brother!
great video
appreciate it!
Absolutely love it! 💎 💎 Great video, with great examples of his progress as he learns & applies the stoic principles to his life & fighting… not sure about the Edison part lol.. but I’m sure you had your reasons 👍🏽
Thank you! I know, he likely had some questionable ethics as a person, but to me the story drives the point home best. I felt for every person who discarded it due to his ethics there would be 100 people who saw it as inspiring, and I liked that trade. Appreciate you checking out the video!
great vid💎

Very inspiring 💎
💎 I am having a bad process going on in my life. I have just noticed your channel totallt by coincidence. I'm a huge MMA fan and I needed some good advice about the problems I'm having. This channel has all the methods for me to solve my things and it's based on UFC fighters! How could I ask for more? Thanks a lot brother, this is amazing work. And thanks Dustin for being an example for us young men.
Thank you for the support my friend. I do it for comments like this
💎💎💎 I love your content. Really inspiring. Please keep this up.
He forgot to mention Michael Johnson as well. He came into the fight with Michael Johnson, very emotional, and then like similar to what happened to Connor. He got sparked unconscious within the first round.
Banger 💎
I love how you combine so many different psychology beliefs in 1 video. Also, I’d love to see a video on Demetrious Johnson and/or Floyd Mayweather 💎
Thank you!! Hmmm, interesting, I've gotten a few Floyd requests... Are you interested in Floyd's confidence?
@@PsychologyOfTheFight I’m interested in Floyd because he is the greatest athlete of all time (50-0, no close fights, highest paid and richest athlete)
Im also interested in Mighty Mouse because I believe he’s the best MMA athlete of all time.
It’s up to you what the topic is about but I would be super happy and intrigued if you dedicated a video to any of them 🙏🏼
The goat strikes again🔥
Sweet video. Thanks for putting it together. Refreshing to see the mindset of fighters.
Could you do a more offensive mindset?
Like Tony Ferguson or Cory Sandhagan.
Hmm, those are very interesting. Tony would be a rollercoaster as he has actually become more and more unhinged throughout his career. Sandhagen would be a great one. What is it about these 2 that you liked specifically?
Cant leave an emoji on this as im on my PC but this video was ace! love your stuff mate
Thank you so much! Means the world
💎Sound advice
💎 great video
