This is one of those videos that earns you subscribers for life. Fantastic editing, fantastic story telling and a journey I don’t think many people will forget. Hope you’re doing well, Joel my friend. Keep up the great work!!
Thanks so much Dan!
Couldn’t have said it better ! Well done!
Fantastic comment !
The edit at 10:44 was sketchy as . . .
Motorway to backroad to Motorway!
Just saying . . .
Well done though. Great video.
@@loojishtc9899 yea it really puts you think what may be behind the scenes.
I like that you point this out, I sometimes wonder if people just don’t realise the effort being put in to videos.
Like they mindlessly watch it. But you do not.
I wonder what you would think of my projects
Well done! There was never a doubt in my mind 🤥 They’re the best cars in the world.
i like men
until they break haha
First owners use them, other owners are used by them😀
Celebrity endorsement!
Hi peak
I'm a truck driver and often find myself on the road between 3.30am and 6am and in the summer on a nice day there is nothing quite like it...it's spiritual and most peopke miss it.
Spiritual is the word. Almost feel like you’re close to god, whether you believe or not
A Kenyan subscriber. This video deserves as many likes as views.
Truth be told, it was this very video which motivated me to buy this Range Rover.
Having driven its competitors - namely the Toyota Land Cruiser V8 - I’ve come to the conclusion that it gives an unparalleled driving experience.
Putting reliability and running cost aside, the driving experience of these cars is outstanding.
I regularly do 700 mile trips (once or twice a month). My trick is also to hook up behind artic lorries being very careful not to be a pest to other HGV drivers. When the weather is between 10-20DegC, I get a touch over 70mpg in my 2013 Ford Focus 1.6 diesel.
I'm going through a breakup right now and this is exactly what I needed. Thanks for all the amazing content, Joel
Thinking of you!
B you need to get her back dude, dont give up! She's worth it you know it! We thinking of you !!!
@@drankfrebin fuck her off and buy a Range Rover! Far cheaper in the long run! Lol

Anyone who drives that series Rover knows what fantastic vehicles they really are. Quiet. Comfortable. Rattle-free, Sumptuous interior. Wonderful engines. And for me, extremely reliable even with over 220K miles. Will never sell it.
Great stuff Joel! Really professionally edited, not missing old Top Gear anymore now 🤗 More please!
What an incredible achievement Joel and a truly epic video. Been following you since the Z4 and this is certainly one of the best. Keep it up 👍
I used to have a 3.6 one of these. A truly wonderful car. Money no object and only allowed one car for the rest of my life, it would be a Range Rover. It’s harmed by the fuel consumption and tax cost. Servicing doesn’t need to be too expensive if you can DIY the basics and have a good independent specialist. Generally the car did about 26mpg over the ten years with the car but I did an economy run a few times and got her to 40mpg. Tricks were as Joel suggested, minimal acceleration so the turbos don’t spool up, anticipation, observation and using manual gear mode so you can select a high gear ASAP and lock it in.
Amazing result for the 3.6. The secret is to keep the speed down as the L322 shape is not very aerodynamic. As soon as you start nudging 70 it really drops off fast and if you can keep it 60-65 they will reward you with this kind of distance. In almost any other car going that speed feels like you are wasting time but in an L322 it’s time we’ll spent.
True also one thing people forget that Diesel cars can still continue to drive for an additional couple extra miles due to diesel engines burning the fuel and running on fumes unlike petrol engines that straight up run from the fuel itself not the fumes from the get go
@@gamersquadlifestyle not very good for high pressure fuel pumps that can get damaged .
Both parts cost more than 2000£ ,you say if it's woth it.
you can also follow lorries about 20 feet away and get some slip stream to help the fact the range rover is a bit of a brick as far as wind resistance:-)
Try my old w210 E320 cdi, and achieve 53mpg on the same journey.
OTS THE tdv8 FORD..
Watched this start to finish. Excellent content and great to see some mutual adoration for this beautiful old beast. Great vid Joel!!
I'm an Englishman who has been driving Land Rovers products for over twenty years and can honestly say there is no place more comfortable to be....
....whilst waiting for a tow truck!
Always happy to see an upload from you, Joel! I really enjoy your videos, especially the ones involving roadtrips up and down Britain. Was particularly pleased about the destination of this one. Best wishes from a Polish subscriber.
You've worked so hard on this and it really shows. The editing is fantastic and wow, what a challenge to undertake..! Well done honey, I'm so proud of you.
Loved this video Joel. So well done. Loved that you left the emotional bit in. That's love for the country you live in. I wish you well for your future. Love from Australia.
This is such a brilliant video. Love your honesty and practical approach. Ensuring that you do all that is required to bring the car up to spec. Thank you.
Great watch mate. I love your passion and I felt like I was with you on the trip. Keep up with the travel videos. Take care 💪😘
Hey Joel, I've been subscribed since 3k back when you use to do the Z4 videos. It's great seeing your success as it has been very much deserved. Can't wait to see the future challenges!
I agree with Dan this is why i first subscribed and came across your channel mate! luv it and well done! never would i have thought this was possible, can wait for the next one Joel.
Another really great video Joel! It's so well shot and edited, I'd say it's on par with your Audi Paris race and I really, really enjoyed that video.
The excitement i got when i saw the title of the video upload.
i love and enjoy these tests.
awesome video Joel.😊
Loved all of this, Joel. Top work! Always enjoy your content.
Thank you again for another great video. Always enjoy your challenges. Keep up the great work mate 😊
Another great video. We missed you. Loved it. I do admit to having tears in my eyes and empathy for your emotion at being amongst our green and luscious land. We are very lucky to be free to do these sort of things.
Thoroughly enjoyed that, classic Top Gear vibes! Shame you’re giving this away, I would love to see you run it all the way to empty and find out exactly how many miles you can get out of it, a trip to Monaco and back would figure that out
Fantastic video Joel and great to see a positive story for a great car that often receives negative comments, loved this!
Well Joel that's put the doubters to bed, just as good as Mr Clarksons epic Audi adventure, I was on the edge of your seat willing you along. This was truly a wonderful blog..Thanks again for letting us share your fantastic journey.
It would be great to see it compared with the latest range rover doing the same journey.
What an easy and engaging watch. You’re a very likeable and intriguing storyteller mate. Hope videos like these open up bigger and better opportunities for you 👊🏽👍🏽
Impressive for what it is I did a run up to Edinburgh from Yorkshire in mine it only used half a tank best I got was 48.7mpg mine is the 4.4 v8 8 speed box 2012 on a long journey there really are very comfortable cars to drive this is coming from a class 1 driver great video enjoyed watching it keep up the good work. 👍
Epic video. Really enjoyed this one. That car is an absolute machine and fair play to you for doing the challenge.
I can't read all the comments but I typed a throwaway comment that you have to do Scotland again after the L405 video then you've only gone and bloody done it!
Top man Joel!
Epic video ! Loved it ! Well done on the editing 👌
Really enjoyed this. Found your channel through your m240i videos but have since watched the TT series and now making my way down your older videos. Videos like this make me love cars all the more.
Great video and superb, flawless and natural presenting from someone of such a young age. I’ve literally never subscribed to anything on You Tube and this is the first channel for me. Keep em coming Joel. Literally better than Top Gear or The GT which for me are now all bout the presenters and the road tests are so false. Also watched one of your videos where you openly talk about depression. Well done to you for your honestly. Total respect. Keep up the good work
This video was amazing! The passion for the car really came through😁
Fantastic video!. Well done mate 👍🏻.
Always a pleasure to watch
Loved this Joel. The whole thing flew by. Great content.
Smashed it Joel! Enjoyed this from start to finish.
Love these kind of videos. What an amazing journey!
Epic trip, great video. Thanks Joel, really enjoyed that!
Been a while since I dropped by your channel. Great road trip, Well put together, great humanity in the mix too, don’t lose it.
Great video mate. Absolutely brilliant! Great work and thanks for doing this
Videos have levelled up, good work Joel
Really cool use of b roll to spice up footage of a motorway journey. I live in Carlisle but I’m from the midlands, so journey back and forth quite regularly. I’ve never properly looked at the topography but I am convinced I get better mileage going south (downhill) than I do north (uphill). It’s awesome to see content showing what sensible, real use driving can achieve. Great video, as always. Is it a humble brag to say I’ve been subscribed for a long while now? :)
That was awesome man. Phenomenal content. Really well put together.
Another smashing video Joel. Thanks for hard work you put in to make these videos. Always entertaining and a pleasure to watch. Keep up the good work. 👍🏼
Thank you sir
Absolutely smashing it mate. Loved the video
Brilliant video from a new subscriber! Will be going to binge the rest of your videos, what an epic journey! Brilliant epic work on the video too! Was very surprised to see how many subscribers you had, with the work you put into the video, I expected 500k+! Well done dude
Really enjoyed that. Great video and a fantastic adventure. Looking forward to many more!
Nice one Joel!! Love your channel - hope you’re feeling better - I’ve also bought a couple of tickets - always wanted a LR322 - fingers crossed
Fantastic video. I've been watching your channel for a while now - since the Z4 pretty much. Your videos have been great, but I think that this is probably your best by far. Excellent review of the car and its capabilities, whilst also showing a personal and emotional side to the man behind the camera and the presenting. It's a good thing! All you need to do now is to run a competition for a handful of your subscribers to win invitations to your wedding. I'm sure your missus and family won't mind another Raffleshack competition...it could pay for the stag do ;) Good luck!
Great video, really enjoyed when you did the long drive in the bmw. Nice one Joel.👍👌
Got 38.8 from a l322 4.4tdv8 and average over 30 in the last 5000 miles although on route to Glasgow broke down at Penrith ah the joys of owning a Range Rover
Extremely good result, even though not so good for big diesel v8 engine driving so slowly.
Just been watching this , and was more than a little amazed at the quality of this blog , packed with information, and tips , well done sir , and Clarkson should be looking behind himself at the skill set of yourself and others
Loved everything about this video, amazing job
Great video as usual Joel! I have wanted to do a range test on my 2015 2.0 TDi Passat, you mentioned the 1000 miles on one tank (passat holds 66L) in the video, I may have to do it just for fun one day!
Congratulations . Absolutely enjoyed every moment of this video. Well presented, excellent commentary. 👏
Brilliant Joel. Really enjoyed that. Looking forward to seeing more of your content.
Brilliant video. I loved every second of it. I've got exactly the same L322. Except mines an 07 and black. Just goes to show. They are reliable.... some anyway and look at what they can do. Well done mate
Love the way you tell the story, very easy to watch, no strange ticks no politics no BS, just really enjoyable style, great production quality, new Subscriber
Fun video! Most cars still have 4-5 L in reserve when the fuel gauge and display are on zero, more so for diesels as an empty tank can be damaging. Designed so you should never run out of fuel! Same for the speedo which invariably reads too high.
Amazing video. Seem to remember top gear and JC doing a similar run in a Jag, but I LOVE L322x. Effortless miles and a lot more reliable ‘cheaper to run than people think. I have a 4.4 TDV8 and love it so much.
Brilliant video, best so far Joel.
Great content Joel. Old skool top gear vibe. Love it. What’s next? Ed
My favoutite Range Rover, next to the Classic model! A work of art, sculptured, beautiful and magnificent in every way! Well done to both of you!
this was fantastic, well done Joel!
Brilliant, being someone trying to decide between a L322 and a D4 I think you've shown me the way!
Many thanks for this amazing video.
We have had a 2007 tdv8 for the past 65,000 miles , it’s pulled our diggers weekly. Towed artics stuck in the snow up steep hills . Taken us up and down the uk on business including Plymouth to Sheffield once a month for a year (On a single tank) it’s allowed us to work in rural locations with our fencing gear and trailer in tow and we donated it for use during covid to care in the community staff to use how ever they needed . I can honestly say that the l322 tdv8 is unbeatable! From trips to ikea to mud plugging it’s the only car that you can work to the bone and then take out to a posh restaurant for dinner 👌 hats off to you Joel excellent engaging content
I always look forward to the vid but these kind are the best man. Amazing I was with you all the way to BP man. 👍👍welldone on another wonderful vid.
Phenomenal job, Joel and awesome video. Reminds me of when Jeremy drove a Jaguar V8 diesel a long way trying to run out of fuel but it made it.
On the fence over subscribing, and having watched a few of your video’s before, this one swung it. Well done.
I particularly liked your reflection on how lucky we are to be free to do these things, without question or hindrance, and explore such a beautiful UK 🇬🇧 - at that point you had me 😂
On the fence for a click , wow 🤣
wow, you are amazing. loved this vid. great lessons learned. RR is way better than ppl say it is. after thinking a lot about what to have as a larger suv, and watching some videos, this seriously takes away some weight from the cayenne gen 2. there's only the LR4 left... have to dig deeper to find out which one is better. but a big thank you for this video. huge help.
Thanks. Nice job. Great video. I drive also a 2006 RR TDV8. Brilliant car. In a recent trip from Holland to the Czech republic and back i noticed also that there is more fuel left than the meter says. With a remaining milage of just 9 km, at the fuelstation there was more than 10 liters left in the tank. Strange.
Brilliant video Joel I don’t think anyone in the UK has recorded a video like this for a Range Rover. Better than taking the train to Scotland.. You have comfort of first class and driving in style.
5 mins in and already enjoying it, well done Joel
Excellent video Joel. Subscribed for a while and wish you every success. I have a D4 that I’m converting to a camper but I so nearly went the L322 as I want a V8 again…. Just couldn’t justify the tax costs. The government obviously want these off the road but they are magnificent. Come on Land Rover…start communicating with Joel…..There are plenty of future customers watching this excellent content. Congrats Joel on your achievement and to your continued success.
I never comment on anyone's content but this is unreal I love your videos and I have so much respect for you I've followed you from day 1 keep up the good work
Amazing video!! I enjoyed every minute!! More of those please Squire!
That was brilliant Joel, thoroughly enjoyed it 👍👍👍😎
Fantastic trip! Well done!
Well done, another great video. I remember your John O' Groats to Land'send Video , you stayed overnight in the Mill Hotel New Lanark and said you'd come back, it would have been nice to see you again. May be the next time you visit our beautiful country.
What a fantastic video Joel and a brilliant adventure! Makes me want to buy another L322. Epic cars. Duly liked, commented and subscribed my friend. Looking forward to the next video!
hi joel, I work on land rovers/range rovers daily, so maybe this is why you was in my recommended videos, I could waffle on for hours about the advantages and dis-advantages of the various models, And don't even mention the Ingenium engines.....
anyway, point I'm trying to make is, indeed the L322 , is by far the best Range rover ever built. Other than the regular maintenance, the occasional suspension pump, and odd pair of turbos, the 3.6 engine is near enough bomb proof.
Im in my 27th year as a vehicle tech, I currently rebuild at least 3 engines a month, but never had to do the 3.6. plenty of l405 3ltrs, 4.4ltrs, 2ltr ingeniums, odd belt fail, oil pump fails on the 2.7. and we currently have an SVR in with failed timing, and valve to piston damage on the flagship 5ltr. sorry for waffling, you've earned a new subscriber, keep up the good content.
Thanks for your work, very entertaining and professionally presented
Great trip. Great video. I think I will try something similar but maybe spend a couple of days up in Scotland while there!
It’s been said by a number of others in the comments but this video wouldn’t be out of place in any motoring show on the TV. Fantastic. 👍🏻
Firstly the RR L322 is a machine! Secondly Joel what an awesome video and challenge for us viewers, excellent production and editing with some cool sounds in the background a truly great effort, you deserve all the accolades for putting this together!
I'm an Englishman who has been driving Land Rovers products for over twenty years and can honestly say there is no place more comfortable to be....
....whilst waiting for a tow truck!
Bloody brilliant. I do Horsham to Tain a few times a year in me T31 xtrail.that takes 12 hours leaving at 4am. I’ve been watching you and Sam with his old 4.4 he has been working on and I’m so wanting to get an L322 but the 4.4 Westminster. Trade the xtrail in!!
Amazing video. I went from Yeovil to Lisbon in one tank and half with a 2005 Freelander .. it went perfectly but.....never NEVER exceed 65 mph. And you know!!! WHAT A LOVELY CAR . LOVE YOUR VIDEO
Great video Joel, really enjoyable. If you’d timed it differently you could have had a celebratory pint when you got back at The Hop Pole opposite BP, I think you earned it!
Well done sir.Dedication to the cause indeed.
Coming from someone that's considering buying a L322 This truly was a great and entertaining video to watch. Thanks for taking the time. You earned a subscription :0)
A minute in and I can’t wait. The production value is amazing
Great video.
I echo your sentiments about taking joy in the freedom of travel & never taking for granted the rich fruits of UK scenery.
It dawned on me this morning myself while crawling along in heavy traffic around kings Lynn...
Great video Joel! Keep them coming!
Well done Joel, was on the edge of my seat at the end
Scotland is a beautiful place for sure
Congratulations Joel , Great video !!
