Is it possible to drive my 6 litre V12 BMW 760Li across the UK using only one tank of fuel? From the highest point in the UK (Ben Nevis, Scotland) to the tallest building (The Shard, London) all without a stop for fuel...

Hi man,
I really don't know if I should get one of these.
Should I get one of these? Are they truly a headache as the internet said? How expensive is it to maintain? Do you have a video about it? I watched almost every video you make on this car 😂. It looks so amazing!!
You would get noticeably better fuel economy with 95RON. Any car for the last few decades will detect and switch between common RONs automatically.
@@groot6830no😂
In this car around 55 to 60mph is probably the most efficient. So on a long open road accelerating very slowly is actually less efficient as you are spending more time at less efficient speeds. It is much better to accelerate at a decent pace (obviously not very fast) up to 50 to 60 mph and then cruise there.
Efficient driving isn't driving slowly, its driving as close to the optimum speed as much as you can, the less braking the better, hit the corners hard!
Was going to mention this. I’ve found accelerating to 65mph in my fabia is better than slowly accelerating. As like you say you’re spending more time accelerating and more time and less efficient speeds
I've always heard this, that slow acceleration is not necessarily efficient or conserving acceleration for precisely the reasons you mentioned, staying in lower gears longer is going to use gas at a higher rate, just as slamming on the gas is going to have the same effect for the opposite reasons. Great tip!
Gentle acceleration up to around 20-30, then apply more throttle. Lightfoot taught me this
Excellent video. That’s the best thing I’ve seen on CZcams for a long time. Didn’t think you’d make it. Did anyone else notice it only started raining when you got to Manchester? 😂
Thanks buddy! Haha good old Mancs weather 😂
Should you buy a Used BMW 760?
Yes, yes you should.
Great video and a new subscriber. Thanks to Matt for the Instagram reccomendation.
next up London to Scotland in the L322
Great Video. TV Quality in its production. Did you have to use the Jerry cans to get home from the Shard!?
Lol, in the vein of other replies (and with tongue firmly planted in cheek) ouch, as someone that lives 13 miles from Manchester, that hurt!
This reminds me of those top gear challenges with Jeremy clarkson and the rest... nostalgic.
Well done, an excellent video!
Reminded me of that too! The A8 challenge in particular
Top gear has had scripted, paid bullshit happening for many years, the whole show has been a joke for 15 years
@@kevpage still one of the most entertaining shows of all time, having impact on a lot of people, making jeremy, richard and james richer then god
its obviously scripted for entertaining reasons, noone watches topgear for actual consumer advice
@@alfredboehm5976 I can remember Top Gear back in the mid 70s well before Clarkson ,May ,Hammond was even thought of being on it ( even though a very young lol Clarkson and May did make the odd appearance on it ) and that's what it was a very drabbish boring consumer programme about motoring I think that's why back then it disappeared for a while until the late 80s .then as time went we got the TG we all know now
Wield looking Dude
Best video you’ve made yet! Cannot imagine the effort gone into making this video, the planning, the cinematography, driving for 12 hours. You deserve far more subscribers than you have. Keep it up Joel!
Thank you !
I never, ever watch videos all the way through if they are longer than 15 minutes, but I watched this all the way! That was a brilliant video- well done!
Really appreciate it, thank you
Me too bro that was amazing
20 year old 6.0 V12 makes it from scotland to London on one recharge, yet brand new electric car runs out after 100 miles. Progress!
14 😅
@@Dan_Cartlidge it's a 20+yo design though. N73 went into production in 2001.
I did Notts to Fort William 11 years ago in my '88 730i manual and j-u-s-t got 30 mpg. I filled up at that same Esso and worked it out. I also stayed at that same hotel and got the shits that night from the French onion soup. :-o
Reminds me of the old TG episode where Jezza went from London to Edinburgh and back to London again on a single tank in a V8 diesel Audi A8! Another cracking vid
4 litre v8
or when they drove a grosser 600 into london
@@Birmingham_racing Yep as I said V8 diesel!
Absolutely brilliant! Loved it mate, especially the "BMW-Assistant" part; nailed it
Even tho that was ovbs done through the aux with another phone on the text to Siri speech thing it was still funny
"Have you ever driven in a third world country like Scotland" - Way to go Joel, how to win friends and influence people.
Joel's sarcasm is rather dry... But I hope it's clear from the video how much we enjoyed being in Scotland. It truly is a beautiful place and a seriously underrated driving destination!
Hehehehehe
I took it as intended, as a joke, which I hope is how others take it. Scotland is such a beautiful country, with some of the friendliest people and I don’t think Joel would have set up this challenge if he didn’t really love the place. Really envious of you being up there, as I’ve been to the exact area and it was spectacular. You did a superb job with that video, Joel, and I agree with other comments about the production quality and the content. Definitely on a par with Top Gear (which I loved), which is incredible, given the budget they had.
@@jonathancrilly6496 fucking hell, man up 🤣
@@jjwiggy1 I love it here, I am right beside loch lomond
Cool! Never expected a 760 to reach that far.. as for the wipers: maybe rain-x as a sponsor for the next video??
I was going to say, next time coat the windshield with RainX to be safe.
@@HamburgerHelperDeath he has, but natural and street downward light makes it difficult to see anything that isn't directly Infront of you
@@nathan123456789ten agreed.i used to put rainx on but hate the stuff now. If not applied absolutely perfectly you end up being blinded with glare at night.
This was such a fun video to be part of! What a car, what an incredible journey. Thanks for inviting me bro 👍
Thanks for your help
Watched all the way through, absolutely cracking video. Its a massive testiment to the good old internal combustion engine. Bollocks to electric vehicles I say. I'm sure this took a lot of time and effort and it definitely shows, really impressive video from start to finish. The old 760 looks incredible.
Thanks so much , glad you enjoyed it. Haha they should start making V12s again!
Excellent video! Taking my E38 V12 on a 610 mile road trip this weekend and hoping to do it on one tank. This has given me hope! Nothing better than a V12 7 for a long trip.
That will be excellent! Let me know how you get on
The production value of your videos have got so much better. The camera angles, cinematography and cringey jokes 😆. Keep it up mate!
Glad you’re noticing the effort, makes it all worth it. Thanks for the kind feedback & for tuning in
18:14 Wow I've never seen a BMW use the inside lane before!
Excellent vid Joel, your presentation has come on in leaps and bounds, love your added humor. The camera work and cinematography made it feel like a top gear special. Keep at it you will go far.
What a great compliment that is, glad you enjoyed it
I love videos like this, real world tests genuinely entertaining and tense at the same time, well done :)
Nice one, glad you enjoyed it
What an incredible video, has to be my favourite from watching your channel for the last few years. Good luck topping this!!!
What’s not to thoroughly enjoy, rare beast of a car, the likes of which might not be with us much longer, epic trip, tense challenge. I started watching a while ago when I was consider a Z4. Channel is 1st class. Keep up the exceptional work.
Often a misconception is, that by accelerating very slowly you can save fuel. Its essentially more efficient, to accelerate normally until you reach your rolling speed. You will spend more fuel for a shorter time this way, instead of accelerating slowly for a loooong time. Of course, doing nearly a burnout to get to 30 in 1sek isn't helping either. There's a sweet spot of acceleration, you have to find. Especially in these stop-n-go traffic this can save you a little bit more.
Nevertheless guys, well done job. Nice car, nice plan, well executed, congrats!
Good video joel - your content is getting much better and since the days of the z4. Cinematography was awesome
Excellent from start to finish and also to note the cinematography is immaculate! Loved every second - Good work guys!
Usually i don’t watch full long videos, but this video really intrigued me, absolutely amazing you managed to do this. 👏🏻
Great vid Joel, knew she'd make it. The effort you've put into collecting footage and editing really shows, this is a very polished vid.
Glad you enjoyed it. Incredible car
Epic video, Joel! Amazing edit and what an achievement from this magnificent beast. Well done. Hope you keep her for a long time to come.
Thanks so much. Honestly felt so proud to have done it! Definitely another thing that’ll emotionally attach me to this car...
Fantastic video Joel, the story, cinematography and editing was ace on this. Great job
by watching your previous videos, all i have to say, man you are really underrated. Keep up the good job. This video kept me really entertained!
This HAS to be your BEST video YET!
When I was younger in the air force, we used to have to travel between Lossiemouth and Preston, then the guys will continue to Derby… We used to have some pretty big gas guzzlers to make it comfortable for four guys to do the trip there and back… To be honest, With the petrol pedal you can get some pretty amazing mileage out of even the biggest gas guzzler
Brillaint video bud! what a legend for doing that trip in BMWs V12! I wish you all the luck in your motoring journey on CZcams - excellent content & thanks
I viewed the entire video in excitement, great job chaps, high production value!
that's impressive. Love the noise of the big V12 as well 👍
Fantastic video Joel, the best one you’ve ever done and I really appreciate the effort you’ve gone to in the editing, cinematics etc.. Please keep-up the 7 Series & Range Rover content 😊👍🏼👏👏👏👏👏
Thank you! Appreciate the feedback and support. More content coming your way
Woke up this morning to plan my own trip around Scotland. And I end up watching this vid. You are my favourite Uk car you-tuber at the minute. Keep up the great content.
Aweseome cinematography 👍🏾
Thanks!
Mate! What a journey and what a video. Keep doing what you're doing!
Was totally epic, thanks Will
Videography is on another level! Keep it coming mate, thanks for a great watch
Came across the video the other day. Was incredible. Can’t believe you made it. Went to Ben Nevis last year. Amazing scenery around Fort William. Must have taken so much patience for that drive. Been addicted to your videos since. Amazing 👍🏼
Warning lights - the life of an E66 owner. But still, a wonderful beast worth maintaining!
Worth every penny
From time to time I flirt with getting rid of my Lexus LS460 and taking a punt on a 7 series..... but this video reminds me why I don't.
I just can't deal with constant little niggles.

One of the small pleasures in life, is being able to drive a "BMW" on a scenic route. I know these cars break, but still...that note of that V12 enjoying the beautiful leather...
Glorious!
That was a fantastic video Joel, really enjoyed watching and nice seeing the 760 do such an amazing challenge, looking forward to more videos
Never thought I'd watch a 36 minute video on a 7 series, only watch 15 minute videos usually and don't even get through those. I'd love to see more videos like this, you have earnt a subscriber!
Big long wheel base Germans are my guilty pleasure, really enjoying the 7 series content
Glad you’re enjoying the content, thanks for tuning in
You took 36min of my life. Great job mate, It was a pleasure to watch.
That was epic - production and editing getting better with every video. Very reminiscent of a certain motoring show and their challenges ;-)
Looking forward to seeing more !
Subbed for the Z4, stayed for the V12 🍿 Great video, worth your effort!
Thank you, that’s exactly what I like to hear!

Love these road trip videos! Great effort and well done. What a car!
Joel, this is one of your best videos. Fantastic work, both the production and the ecodriving!
Thanks so much, glad you enjoyed it
Next time Joel drives as fast as he dare to see how far he can get with the aircon on full blast. I recon it would be jerry cans out by Carlisle😄
0:45 That moment when everyone drove miles from home to take pictures of the beautiful nature except this one guy who takes pictures of his car 😅👍
Hahaha
Fairplay Joel what a brilliant challenge and video. The cinematography was brilliant and the tension as you got closer was high. Great video and all in one day
The intro is amazing ! Love it mate, keep it up !
The BMW v12 in the 1995 7 series was surprisingly good on fuel. Officially rated at 33mpg at 56mph and still over 27mpg at 75mph

Next video should be a health check on the Bmw
Absolutely cracking video like always! Great visuals and commentary!
First time I’ve seen your clips, really Impressed, great content and trip. Love the BMW 7 series. Like you keep it real and honest , well done
Excellent video 👏🏻, certainly didn’t expect the 760 to make it on one tank.
Me neither! I’m glad you enjoyed the video
Spoiler 🙈
You had the air conditioning on, no wonder you were cold (and using more fuel in the process) lol
He didn't think Scottish air was good enough.
Fuel range challenge videos are so satisfying to watch, I didn't think you would make it in one tank
The quality of this video was unreal, well done!!!
Love these types of videos. To do the road trip in such a nice car too.

What a video. Popped up on my homepage and didn't think I'd end up watching it all tbh. Some great cinematography and music choices almost felt like an old top gear film at times.
Great car too. Subscribed.
Thanks so much dude!
This makes electric cars absolutely obsolete
The thing is, as an exercise its doable but to drive like he did, so slow, under the speed limit, always concerned about fuel is gonna drive people nuts, lol.
I'd still rather have a V12 over a electric car.
This thinking is insane. ICE for new cars will mostly be part of automotive history around the world by 2031.
