I lived in the house at 2:28.. on the right ... Grandad's grocery store was across the street and Rita used to cook it up at the little motel restaurant. Back in 1998.. everyone has died or moved away
Woooo.. it’s too crowded at Sheffield watch out..😂 Seriously looks like a nice small town ..🤙🤙 Thank you for taking your time and sharing your travels Rusty 🤙🤙
Good Day Rusty!!!! I am so so so enjoying our trip an conversations my sweet friend!!!! Thank you for taking me to places I surely would enjoy!!!!! Exspecially with you!!! Thank you again my friend stay safe !!!!!
One thing about Sheffield is certain. There is cedar in places between the hills. Definitely more brush then Fort Stockton. I've never made the drive from Sheffield to Dryden. Maybe someday I will.
Love that scenery, most of us spend too much time running the interstate highways and never get off on the back roads where you can really enjoy America.
I KNEW this road sounded familiar. I had to come find this video to check. I took 349 and loved it. I stayed at the Fort Lancaster Overlook for the night. Saw the signs for Iraan and thought of you! Only person I saw was a state trooper. I stopped and asked him about 349 and he said it was a good road.
Back in the 80's traffic had to pass thru Sheffied till they completed interstate 10 which was about a 5 mile detour at that time . Nice drive if you don't like alot of traffic but not much to see either
I've been there. In the 1990's there use to be a Fina convenience store & a RV park north of Sheffield where I10 crosses the Pecos river. They shut it down around 2008 I believe. But I have gotten something to drink there in the past. I've been to Fort Lan Caster as well. Worth checking out. The scenery is nice out there.
@@VanessaSmith-en8kf Its ashamed that they closed it. & people should not go there & write graffiti on it like I saw the last time I passed through there. I think that's wrong.
@@Davkin74 I only knew Floyd for a short time. He retired from El Paso Natural Gas in Carlsbad. Hobby was guitar and piano. One son was a TPS Officer on I-10, another owned a truck line, and another welded for Kinder-Morgan. Kinder-Morgan controls the Yates Field. There may have been a daughter also.
Had trouble finding Sheffield on the map. Not too far from places you've habited before, but yet you've never been there. Just shows how huge this country really is.
My mom used to be the cook at the diner there in the 80s. I went to school there when they had an elementary school. I remember Mr. McClure being the principle and a few of the teachers all had multiple tasks. I also remember when all of those gas stations were operating along with the general store on the right.
@eutimiochavez415 There use to be a Conoco Station there on the left as your coming into town back in 1993. I remember getting gas there on my way out to Sierra Blanca.
I love those roads. Beautiful sky.
I do too

There is a picnic area east of Sheffield and Fort Lancaster that overlooks the Pecos River Valley it is an awesome View

Good morning to all Rangers. Ranger Harley reporting form the rainy Carolina mountains. All Rangers. Get out there and swivel and walk.

Did you know Floyd Kennedy?
@@louispaparella5766 the Kennedy name sounds familiar. I knew a Bubba Kennedy Possibly from the same family
@@rusty78609 absolutely. Ranching or oil fields. That’s basically the two options in that town.

They have a school.

Kids in Sheffield go to school in Iraan.
They used to have a school, I believe it's a state school now. I went to second grade there in the early 80s.
I’m from Sheffield, England. In April I’m doing a Texas road trip, worth visiting?
