Good video. Water sits on the top of those things. I changed my passenger side because of that when i bought my car. I thought the roller was rusted in place, but it wasnt that bad. I should have sprayed it first. I have a back up now that I hopefully wont need.
Congratulations with the baby coming soon, and the new house.

Did you try lithium grease first? It resolved my worsening creaking. I got that tip from a C &S Corvette video.

I had to swap a hyper extended hinge on my minivan once, and I found it super simple to just remove the LH front fender. That way the door stays shut and is perfectly aligned when you swap the hinge, and makes it basically plug and play. I'm curious if that same approach could be used for the C5.

take care of your car and it will take care of you. Especially in this case, where too much resistance in the hinge can actually rip it off the body. Gm didn't spec a special hinge because of the fiberglass.
It does seem unusual that an ordinary GM door hinge would need lubrication every six months or so. I would use a different lubricant if that happened to me , but luckily, my hinge has no abnormal maintenance requirements, even though I bought my C5 used. As a preventive , I used some spray white grease on mine, only because white grease is what everyone else uses. But I am more than willing to get some aero quality exotic space grease , hold me back.

Very true & if you have ever taken the door completely off you know how light & fragile it is. I was looking at the roller pin and it's very gritty while spinning it with pliers so it's safe to say the internals were shot.

Lol ownedcsome American cars most had to replace door hinge. I have 03 camry 21yr old car 336k miles never replaced hinge, Toyota door as heavy as vette door hmmmm why honda and Toyota is all I buy. Every body and interior parts is original, besides wear items 3 parts failed and were replaced all after 250k miles. I knock sensor 1 alternator, and 1 radiator caught a rock in front of radiator. Other than that tires belt filter oil and struts and some front rubber bushings all original. Have no use for tools anymore almost. That kuds is called quality. Even all buttons switches handles cables and all electric motors for seats windows sunroof all factory original. Keep you american cars, may be faster to 100mph but none will beat me to 400k or 500k as yours will be junked ir totally rebuilt by 300k miles if not sooner. Happy motoring to Toyota owners, happy shop time to domestic owners

In my humble opinion, you don't deserve to call yourself an American. I'd rather support American companies than some foreign crap.

Assuming you are an American, you should be ashamed of yourself for buying foreign cars. American cars may not be perfect, but at least I support my country.
