- I compare Dell's new XPS line up the 13 (9300), 15 (9500), and 17 (9700). The laptops are similar in many ways, with few differences. I let you know which one you should buy.

After watching your videos, I’d rather buy the dell xps 13 9300 instead of the new Mac Book Pro. Also, you’re so handsome.
Likewise Nicky.
2:57 - Pointed out by a viewer/commenter, the graph is right but I say 3 ThunderBolt 3 ports for the XPS 15, which is NOT true. It's 2 Thunderbolt 3 and the other is a regular USB-C port
Sorry for topic change but are you going to be reviewing the Nord and pixel 4a etc...? Love your reviews would love to get your take on mid range phones
Another great video, thanks. Love the XPS line!! Great comparison video.
Great video! Could you please make a video comparing the touch vs non-touch XPS 15, both battery life and overall usage.
Thanks I’d really appreciate it.
Really handy review, exactly the comparison I was after. Worth a sub for sure.
Great vid mate, getting my new 13" today. I love setting up a new computer. I'd love a 17", but that is waaay too big for portability for me.
I wasn't aware of the limit of cores for the 13. Oh well, live and learn. Love your content.
Learn something new everyday! I agree, a clean install of an OS and setting up a computer are some of the best memories before it eventually slows down over time lol
Higher core processors generate more heat at max use, so thermally throttle in the smaller cases. So you would pay more for no extra benefit.
The 8 core in the 15 inch is probably not worth it, likewise the i9 10 core processor when that model is available.
Love your channel, can't believe I just found this
Thanks for the video. These machines are nowhere to be found in Vancouver! So I needed to see all three in one place to understand their sizes! Thanks! Quick feedback: If you had more lights and if that TV was higher, you videos would look like those 1M sub youtubers'!
Great review. Keep up the good work!
Nice overall overview. Thanks 😊
You're going to be one of the next big CZcamsrs if you kept on making videos like this!
Not gonna lie, kind of slacked off, but I will admit my laptop videos are one of my favorites on the channel. I'll step up my game from now on because of Jawad >:)
Great video as always - so - what is the best 17” laptop for photoshop ?
Love your reviews. You’re the only tech guy I subscribe to 😊 I still haven’t decided on which laptop I will get, my heart is all over the place right now. Will you review Lenovo ThinkPads?
Thanks for the sub! 😀. Never used a Lenovo thinkpad outside of high school...I may have to try one out, stay tuned.
I think you should try Asus Zenbook Pro, it is the most advanced Asus, very thin laptop, similar to the XPS, and touchscreen is marvelous, once you begin using touch on notebooks, it is hard to come back.
That was a very welcome comparison. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
Great video! More informational than the XPS site.
I'm looking for laptop that meets my multimedia and coding needs. I will also be carrying it along with my 14 inch office brick. I've narrowed down my choices to XPS 13 touch with i7, 16 GB RAM and 512 GB SSD or XPS 15 i7, 16 GB RAM and 512 GB SSD. Both of them cost roughly the same.
Can you please help me out here with the following questions?
1) Does the extra 1 pound in 15 make a big difference?
2)would I need the gpu in 15 to run deep learning programs?
3) Is the screen estate of 15 worth the extra weight? I can always hook my 13 to an additional monitor while working from home.
4)I'm not very invested, nor would be in the future, in the apple ecosystem, but do you think macbook pro is also a choice for me(I'll never be buying an iphone though)
Sorry for the poor grammar and the extra long message.
Awesome video as always! I'm excited to see your channel grow. I was thinking of getting the 15, but hearing that its fans louder than the rest was quite disappointing, as that is my main issue with laptops these days. My main pc is a Dell gaming laptop from 2016 which is 15 inch and its already super loud at times and heavy for work. Do you recommend that i go for the 13 inch? I love the size and portability of the 13 inch. My only problem could be the speakers. Are they bad as it's at the bottom?
Gaming laptops are known for having bad speakers, so coming to the XPS 13, you might be surprised but don't expect MacBook quality speakers. Standalone they are fine, but are definitely an improvement from your Gaming Laptop from 2016. You definitely get a bit more punch in the MacBook Pro 13" though.
Hiya Dayo, I just do Perfume Reviews & need a laptop that's good for editing (I use Sony Vegas to edit)
Would you recommend I get the 13" or the 15"?
Thanks in Advance for your reply 😊
It is so cool that you reply to comments to help!! I was thinking about getting the xps 13 but have gotten a bit worried because of all the talk of loud fans, high temperatures, coil whine, and flickering screens. Is this all just overhyped and blown out of proportion or should I be worried?
Negative comments will always outweigh positive ones. That being said, I did have issues with my XPS 13 (coil whine, random black screen when trying to unlock my face, unresponsive at times) and the XPS 15 (bad trackpad [has been fixed], black flickering when unlocking my face). Dell seems to have poor quality control that they are trying to fix and a mixture of this is just Windows. If return policies are generous where you are buying from, try it out yourself, everyone has a different experience, but from my usage, Dell seems to lack in quality control.
The 13” compared to last year 13”, is there a size difference ?
Wow this video is really useful, awesome info, ty
At 2:56 , only the 2 usb c ports on the left support tb3, the one on the right doesn't have tb3, only power delivery, usb 3.1 gen 1 (or 2, idk) and displayport 1.4B.
For the XPS 15 correct?
Good review Dayo . New subscriber!!!
Appreciated! Thanks for the sub!
Hi! is Dell Xps 15 9560 good for autocad?
Is dell pen compatible with any of those laptops ?
can we expect a video on xps 15 or 17 vs macbook pro 16. By the way the content is great
I made a 15" one since my 17" took forever to get in my hands. It really comes down to Windows or macOS, but the 17" is a far more capable machine once spec'd up to the price point of the 16"
Thanks, very useful watching them next to each other 🙏🙏🙏
No problem!
Dayooooo just what I was look for thank you🙌🏾😭
aye, no problem, no problem
This is what I was looking for mate!! Finally the video is here🙏
Hope it helps!
Are you experiencing the battery drain issue on the 17? Also glad I found your channel bro, love your video detailed yet to the point. Subbed
I have not
Nice comparison
Great video👍. I am in need of a new laptop and my two main options are the Xps 13 and Xps 15. Which one would you guys recommend? (I still have to finish high school, but I am planning to study engineering at uni)
The more power of the 15 will benefit you greatly in the long run and upgradability
If you're thinking of buying the xps 15, I'd recommend you don't. There have been a lot of problems with overheating and the fans being EXTREMELY loud when doing simple tasks like browsing the Web! Ive contacted dell and they're going to repair it but this has happened to a lot of people so be warned.
One question: why would anyone buy a UHD instead of FHD until and unless they don't do some hardcore gaming or video editing? I have a YT channel but I don't shoot anything in 4k. It's too time consuming. Am I wrong here? Buying FHD will save me money, less heating and most importantly more battery life..!
am watching this vid because im about to buy the xps 15 4k UHD 😃
good review buddy keep the good work 👏🏼👍🏼👏🏼
That sounds like a beautiful machine on the way.
Dayo Aworunse thanks 😁 it should be xD 🤞🏼
How is the machine so far?
@@Huss-nj hmm i didn't buy it ,,, i bought the Razer Blade 15 Base model :)
Outstanding review, Dayo. If only you could reverse the latest CZcams trend of over-editing reviews, with lots of annoying jumpcut and pop-in/pop-out editing and loud 'background' music. And you have a great voice to narrate these presentations top things off. Thumb up, most definitely 👍 PS: Coming from Lenovo, I am still torn between the MacBook Pro 16 and the XPS17, with the MBP subsequently then being my first step into the Apple eco system.
It’ll take a great army to do that, but it’s all an art and creative process and I think I found my art style of videos. I still enjoy top tech channels but some are over-edited and feel disconnected to the audience. Someone in the comments asked my opinion about the thinkpad so I might have to try one out.
Buy MBP, you won't regret
Really clear analysis, Dayo. I'd go for the 17, just because I already have a MBP 13, which is great but I miss a bigger laptop monitor, and it would be great where I need to work with larger spreadsheets (or watch movies at night). Thank you, and keep up the great work. (Subbed).
Spreadsheets, coding, and media consumption are all great on a bigger screen!
@@DayoAworunse Absolutely, Dayo, and I do a lot of this for my day job. I need the MacBook because I compose music in Logic Pro, but I'm missing a bigger screen!
I just waiting for my Intel 10th generation dell XPS 2 in 1 I got expect out with i7 32 GB RAM and 1 TB storage and 4k screen as well will the round puck with ethernet and USB 3.1 port on it for about $3400 Canadian money with tax this is the most I have ever spent coming from a Dell latitude e6430 with an i5 I hope I made the right decision and I like it 👍👍 great video
On paper that sounds like a beast of a machine. Hopefully you enjoy the machine once it arrives. Also, nice how it's a 2 in 1!
Good comparison video..
Does the xps 13 get as hot as the mbp 2020 base model. I saw just josh's review and he mentioned that the xps 13 gets really hot.
Also can the xps 13 be undervolted
They hover around the same temperatures but I'd say the XPS 13 is a quieter machine
Commenting before watching. I bought the15" and it was too big. I returned and got the 13" and could only be happier if I got one with a dedicated GPU. But I do have an external GPU sitting next to my recliner to so that helps. The 13" is just PERFECT size with the 16x10 aspect ratio.
13" is just hard to beat and feels more solid than the 15 & 17 inch". Let's hope manufacturers start adding dGPU inside 13" in the future.
Hi Dayo, you are a great reviewer, great voice and presence, and I agree with you: 15 XPS is the sweet spot and can handle most tasks. I believe 17 is very heavy to work on the legs, and the keyboard way too far from the base, which makes typing difficult. hugs
You basically said my video in 15 seconds lol. Completely accurate. This might be why I like 13" devices so much
If you're thinking of buying the xps 15, I'd recommend you don't. There have been a lot of problems with overheating and the fans being EXTREMELY loud when doing simple tasks like browsing the Web! Ive contacted dell and they're going to repair it but this has happened to a lot of people so be warned.
@@stephanieb7330 I won´t buy XPS, thanks, I prefer Asus Zenbook Pro or a Lenovo... anyway, I don't need all this power, all I need is a good discrete graphic and processor for Photoshop, and touch screen. Thanks
Do you still have all 3 of these seems like a waist of money.
Looking to buy a computer just for school/university, debating between the 13 and 15, what would you recommend?
Comes down to what size you prefer. I'd go with 13" but that's just me. I know how small desks can be in schools and while 15" is nice, it's also sometimes an annoyance in huge lecture halls, but times are changing and things are moving to online it seems, but I just love the 13" too much to go bigger.
does xps 17 base model have vapor chamber cooling system?
Indeed it does
what is the price of the 17"and where do you recomeme me to buy one...?
Dell website has lots of deals happening all the time
Great video. You need to mount that TV
Check my latest videos now :)
Does anyone know if their will be a "Back to School Sale" for the XPS 15?
My guess would be probably sometime in August
@@DayoAworunse 👌 thanks
Is there a substantial difference between the i3-1005g1 and the i5-1035g1 ? XPS 13 Variant.
Is it worth the extra $50 ?
Going to be using it for mostly light work, browsing and videos.
Cheers 🙌🏼
The main difference is that it goes from 2 cores to 4 cores. The only real improvement you'll see is in multi-threaded applications. For $50 though, I'd say its worth it in the long run
I always use windows laptop and never used macbook before, but I am interested with macbook pro 13. For a college student, should I try the macbook 13 or stick with the windows and go with dell xps 13?
I find that I am more productive using macOS than windows. I used Macs when I was in college. At work, we have the option to use windows or apple for our work station. 95% of my colleagues choose windows. It really depends on what program/software you will use
Couldn't hurt to try. I find macOS to be an enjoyable experience as a laptop experience than Windows.
@@ms.marieanne Completely agree! It's nice that your job allowed you to choose between Apple or Windows! My job just gave me an XPS 15, but I'm not complaining since its spec'd out!
Is it still worth me getting the xps 13 or is there a batter laptop for that price now?
Razer just put out their Book 13, but it's a brand new product so longevity seems iffy. XPS 13 is still a solid choice
So what happens when they SSD on the 13" dies, which it will at some point, when its soldered to the board? You just toss it into the trash? That's definitely a deal killer for me.
That's a strong point
Hey bro Can we do some gaming in macbook 16?
It can game! But not as good as a Window machine
Macbook pro 13,2020 i5 8 th gen vs Dell xps 13,2020, i5 10 th gen???ur suggestion?
If you value longevity, can't go wrong with a macbook pro, but the new XPS is great and only time will tell how long it will last.
Is there any problem in trackpad in dell XPS 15 if I buy now
The Learning channel They should be resolved by now
@@DayoAworunse so if I buy thi xps15 so I have not face any issues in my trackpad further
It would have been REALLY nice, and not difficult at all, to stack those three models on top of each other to show the size differences.
Thanks for the advice. I'll try to incorporate that in my future laptop comparisons or comparisons in general.
You had the three laptops, put them on top of each other, and show us the difference in size.
are the keyboards themselves on the 13 and 15 the same width?
Yes
@@DayoAworunse thank you very much! The speakers were throwing me off
Is the 13” too small? And is the 15” too big? I am not sure which one to get.
It's highly dependent on your own wants. I personally like smaller devices and the 15 is too big in my laptop and day-to-day use
@@DayoAworunse thanks dear
Any time I've seen these the material is all oily. I don't know if the carbon fiber is absorbant or what.

I have the XPS 13 it is a show stopper .. Everyone asks what is that.. Great Machine and i mean Machine. I have touch screen i5 touch acreen no 4k. Great battery life ... I mean Great ! and the screen is unbelievable even outside.
It's a beauty, they all are.
Good to here I am waiting on my delivery of the 13 XPS i7 32ram 1tb And 4k screen I hope it's worth it ....coming from older dell 14 latitude e6430 and its the most I have spent on a computer at $3400 Canadian with tax and the round ethernet adapter with USB 3.1 and type c port...... I hope the price is justified and I'm happy with it
The 13 looks incredible!
The 15/17 seems like a lot of wasted space around the keyboard if this is a desktop replacement, some more comfort with wider keybase would make this more a desktop replacement to me.
I completely agree. If only more power was offered in the 13"
This was sooo helpful! I’ve def narrowed down to the 13 or 15 but I went onto the Dell website and got overwhelmed by all the customizable specs!! Lol #help I’m a novice! 🤣
I love the options Dell gives you, but I can understand being overwhelmed. It's like trying to buy tomato paste but there's 15 brands (maybe this was a horrible metaphor). What can I help you with to make it easier?
If you're thinking of buying the xps 15, I'd recommend you don't. There have been a lot of problems with overheating and the fans being EXTREMELY loud when doing simple tasks like browsing the Web! May I have one bro ?! Lol I’m about to start college and looking for a laptop... don’t know what to get (HELP)! I know I want something touch screen and will last long and get me through school (Business major) What do you think ?
XPS 13 can give you touchscreen at the cheapest price. Something that will last long with a touchscreen, you gotta drop money on XPS 15 or 17 4K model which doesn't really seem worth it. You could look getting the Surface Laptop 3.
Dayo Aworunse what about the xps 2 in 1 ? What you think about that. I want something that can take notes with like an Apple iPad. Is there a better choice for 2 in 1 out there? I don’t know much about computers/Laptop. PLEASE HELP!
Minh I haven’t personally use the two in one, but from other reviewer’s it seems to be a really solid device for 13 inch device.

@@DayoAworunse Well, buying Apple is allways a mistake, don't want big brother running your life.
@@Tugela60 If you access the Internet at all, you're basically having Big Brother running your life
@@DayoAworunse Apple decides for you what you can and can't do. You have no voice in that. That is what I mean by big brother. It is why I won't touch their products.
Tugela60 for sure you have more control and options if you went Windows and Android. I agree with that. I’d even go as far to say Linux systems too.
What about the Huawei MatebookX 2020?
I do not have that device unfortunately
The answer is dont bother with any. I've spent years returning Dell machines due to noise, heat and quality issues. I gave them one more shot when the xps 15 9500 came out. Returned it 2 days later. Garbage quality control.
I have 5 questions with Dell XPS 17 :
1. Can I use two power bricks to solve the charging problem ?
2. Can I disable the dedicated GPU somehow ?
3. Can I use high refresh external display for gaming ?
4. Can I use e-GPU with it ?
5. Does the battery continue to drain while using e-GPU with an External Display ?

Dude you’re getting a Dell
I can't tell if you're happy or surprised 😂
MKBHD looking really young 🤨
I admire the XPS line in terms of its design but I absolutely dislike windows. You’re lucky to have them in all sizes ;-) if you were to choose one, which would it be and why?
13" for me, but that's because I enjoy using laptops in bed or have something extremely lightweight and portable. I don't necessarily need all that crazy power from the 15" or 17", if I needed that, I would focus and work on my desktop computer. I like to value my money and it just seems that the 13" is the best value for me. But I agree, Windows on a laptop experience is horrible. I really only like the desktop experience.
Just buy all 3. Done deal :D
I'm gonna smash my 16" mbp against a tree, sell it for about half what I pad (for parts), because even broken apple crap retains theor value for whatever reason, then I'm going to get a xps 17.
Also, Dell has said that any model shipped after June this year will have had the trackpad issue fixed. That's what they said, anyway.
I just got mine today and it does have a very slight trackpad issue but it isnt that bad honestly.
btw i got the XPS 15 with the i7 10750H, 16GB RAM and 1TB SSD with the 1650Ti
