10 Generations From Adam to Noah
Seth, Enosh, Kenan, Mahale, Jared, Enoch, Methuselah, Lamech, and Noah.
3 Things Genesis 5 Teaches About God:
    1. God is Just: “And he died”
    -Genesis 2:16-17
16 And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, “Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; 17 but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you[f] shall surely die.”
Question: As you consider your life and how you are living, are you trying to outrun death, live life to the fullest, or make it to God?
“God’s justice is that we all must die, His providence is that we can live eternally with Him.”
    2. God is Providential: Genesis 5:21-25
Providence is the guardianship and care provided by God.
21 Enoch lived sixty-five years, and begot Methuselah. 22 After he begot Methuselah, Enoch walked with God three hundred years, and had sons and daughters. 23 So all the days of Enoch were three hundred and sixty-five years.24 And Enoch walked with God; and he was not, for God took him.
Question: Does the way Enoch lived have anything to do with him not dying?
God’s sovereignty works best with those who choose to call on His name. (Never merit only covenant)
Enoch is a sign of the promise that there truly is something after death. (A symbol of Christ)
    3. God is a Deliverer: Genesis 5:28-29
28 Lamech lived one hundred and eighty-two years, and had a son. 29 And he called his name Noah, saying, “This one will comfort us concerning our work and the toil of our hands, because of the ground which the Lord has cursed.”
Genesis 3:15 Proto Evango, the 1st Gospel proclamation. Crush, Strike, Bruise
Question: Why do you think Noah is viewed as a deliverer?
    - Our deliverance is near.
    Summary:
God is just, providential, and our deliverer. We see that we all will die, but we’ve been granted eternal life through our deliever, Jesus Christ. Though many symbols and signs foreshadow our deliverer like Noah and Moses, remember this,Be careful not to get caught up in how long one lived, or how man populated the earth, or how one could never die, remember that “Jesus Christ is the ultimate son of the promise and the completeness of our deliverance, now and forever more.”
