  • Genesis: Noah...and God's Redemptive Plan
This message is brought to you by Pastor Darryl Morrison
    Main Scriptures:
    Genesis 6:1-22
    Points:
    1. Challenges With This Text:
    - Who Are The Sons of God?
    2. Three Common Thoughts Concerning the Sons of God:
1.) The Godly line of Seth and the ungodly line of Cain
2.) Powerful kings and princes of that day (kings who descended from Cain)
    3.) Fallen angels
    - Where scripture speaks, we speak with authority, where it doesn’t we keep our mouths shut.
    3. Wickedness of Man (vs. 5, 11-12)
    - When Sin Becomes Normal
    - 5 Then the Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
    - vs. 11-12
11 The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence. 12 So God looked upon the earth, and indeed it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted their way on the earth.
    - Romans 3:9
    - No matter how normal the world makes sin, don’t fool yourself into thinking it’s right in the eyes of God.
    4. God Responds To Wickedness (vs. 3; 6-7)
    - Destruction
    - 3 And the Lord said, “My Spirit shall not strive with man forever, for he is indeed flesh; yet his days shall be one hundred and twenty years.”
6 And the Lord was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart. 7 So the Lord said, “I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth, both man and beast, creeping thing and birds of the air, for I am sorry that I have made them.
    - Because God doesn’t see sin and wickedness as right His righteous response is to destroy it.
    5. God Keeps His Promise (vs. 8; 18)
8 But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.
18 But I will establish My covenant with you; and you shall go into the ark-you, your sons, your wife, and your sons’ wives with you.
    - We are redeemed because of God’s supernatural grace and because He is an unwavering promise keeper.
    6. God’s Sovereignty Finds You (vs. 9; 22)
9 This is the genealogy of Noah. Noah was a just man, perfect in his generations. Noah walked with God.
22 Thus Noah did; according to all that God commanded him, so he did.
    - God’s grace and promises seemed to find those who seek Him, pursue Him, and obey Him.
    Summary:
I truly believe that the plan of God’s redemption and the power of His sovereign grace seems to find those who are willing to choose to walk with and obey Him.
