  • Genesis: The Battle of a Lifetime

    An All-Out Battle: Let The Battle Begin
    2 Groups
    Group 1 (4 Kings) Middle to Far East
    - Amraphael king of Shinar, Babylonia, Modern-day Iraq
    - Arioch King of Ellasra, East of Dead
    - Chedolaormer King of Elam, Persia, Modern-Day Iran
    - Tidal King of the Nations, or Goyem, Gentiles/Non-Jews
    Group 2 (5 Kings) (Middle East/Israel) Duet 29:23 is all mentioned as being destroyed when God reigns judgment on these cities. They will be mentioned in chapter 19
    - Bera king of Sodom
    - Birsha king of Gomorrah
    - Shinab king of Admah
    - Shemeber king of Zeboiim
    - The king of Bela (that is, Zoar)
    Points:
    1. A Battle For Our Brothers/Sisters: vs. 8-16
    -overtaken in the battle (vs. 8-12)
    - The closer we position ourselves to unrighteousness the greater the chance for it to be overtaken by it. (living by it, living in it, and leading in it)
    -the rescue process in battle (13-15)
    2. A God-Given Plan: v. 15
    - The rescue process includes someone who will tell, some allies (Amorites) who have your back, some committed brothers from your own house, and a God-given plan.
    -the restoration process in battle (16)
    - How much effort do I make to help rescue those who have been taken captive?
    - Will I go after those who have been lured into the spirit of darkness?
    - Galatians 6:16 Brethren, if a man is [a]overtaken in any trespass, you who are spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness, considering yourself lest you also be tempted.
    3. A Battle For Our Worship: vs. 17-21
    - Hebrew 7:1-3
    4. He is the One who blesses us: vs. 19-20
    - Abram teaches us that Jesus who is both our Priest and King, has the power to commune with and bless us and is worthy of all of our worship including our tithe.
    5. A Battle For Our Soul: vs. 21-24
    - Will you relinquish souls for stuff or will you fight for souls if it means you relinquish stuff?
    Summary:
    Genesis 14 teaches us that as Believers and those committed to God, we are in for a battle of a lifetime. When we experience God’s grace in our lives we must be willing to battle for our brothers and sisters, battle for our worship, and battle for our souls.
    Let’s get ready to rumble!
