I think why this show works so well (besides the writing) as does New Girl and HIMYM for so long is that the cast genuinely seem to love working and hanging out together. It translates onto the screen! As Mindy says "You can't script chemistry" and that corresponds to not just romantic pairings but a cast as a whole.

Absolutely agree! The problem with most shows that run for a long time is that because the cast spends so much time with each other, if there's no genuine friendship there, the on-screen chemistry lacks after awhile because they get annoyed with one another off screen and then it just becomes a dread to watch. Shows like HIMYM, Friends, New Girl and The Mindy Project display that obvious off-screen friendship which makes it more fun to watch.

I think besides fom my favorite show this is my favorite cast ever. They are so funny, the way they make impressions of each other (mostly Chris Messina) it's hilarious. I haven't laughed this much in a while, my belly hurts.
