    Very nice video. I'm impressed with your examination of the internal, I hope I could make such relevant points ^^
    I'm also disapointed by my VP9 (Asian deluxe version as well). I owned it for a few months and I'm waiting for the temperature to get a bit higher so I can actually shoot it outdoor and show it on my channel. As far as I'm concerned the finish is great, but that's it. It shots poorly, has little cool down resistance and doesn't work at all when it's cold.
    Have you tried to release the magazine without the side and back panels ? On my model, the magazine retention tends to change depending of the panels I have installed on the gun. With no panel, the mag drops freely. It's very tight with the small parts, a bit less tight with the medium parts.
    Regarding the nozzle design, I would assume they're trying to make it as large as possible in order to increase the kick of the gun. I think it works very well on the FNS-9 (which as you said has a very similar nozzle), but not so much with the VP9 for some reason. The kick is nice though, but I would assume it greatly increases the gas consumption, which itself I think greatly decreases the cool down resistance and cold resistance of the gun.

      Legendary has blessed thy comment sections rarrrwwwwwwww X3X3
      and you know what... now that you mention the panels, it does feel a little different! Mine doesn't seem to drop the magazine freely either way but i can sorta sense what you mean. Quite curious... tbh i opted not to modify the panels since they fit soo snugly, i really didn't want to mess with it.
      And the nozzle.. :( makes me want to cry... the ppaper clip thingy is really terrible. :(
      best regards,
      RS087 (big fan of your channel :)

      Well thanks ! Is it the first time I'm commenting one of your video ? That's weird, I should have thanked you before for the video you made on the RWA Agency Arms installation video ; it really helped me figuring out how to put the freaking nozzle spring in place :-P

    I watched this a few months ago and was disappointed that you spent 36 minutes reviewing the replica but refused to say how to fix it. I assumed you couldn't. But I'm stubborn and I , like you, really liked the replica and wanted it to work. But it was freezing up on me and venting the mag like crazy. I finally solved it and its not too difficult. However, as I did so much work to it I feel I should outline everything done in case one of those helped.
    1. Sand the OD of the tapered nozzle where it fits inside the barrel (slides into battery if you will) This was such a tight fit that I found the CTE of the metal combined with the tight fit of the plastic nozzle meant it would freeze and seal shut such that the blowback would be arrested before it could fully cock the hammer and release the valve on the magazine. Using 1000 grit wet dry sand paper with a bit of oil I wrapped it around the tapered part of the nozzle all the way to the end of the nozzle (about 5-10mm length) and sanded it by twisting the nozzle in it being careful not too break off the feed bar. then press it into battery and it should not stick! But just barely or you get a bad seal. This I believe was THE BIGGEST CAUSE for the freezing and venting of the mags. (at least for mine). Take your time, it took me about 10 minutes of very gentle sanding and test fitting before I got it perfect.
    but everything else done is outlined below in case they helped.
    2. After about 10-20 mags at a high rate of fire I still see it thinking about freezing up (better than the random 1-4 mags before at a high rate of fire) I use a hot air gun to blow warm air down the magwell through the nozzle to out the barrel to warm it up. just dont get too hot or you deform the magwell. I use my fingers wrapped around the mag well to gauge temperature. Dont burn yourself. 10 mags I feel is on par with almost every other GBB pistol I have (KWA 1911, HICAPA etc).
    3. Replace the piston with an antifreze piston. You can lathe your own or buy one. I dont know if these work that well but mine was upgraded and that alone didnt fix it worth beans.
    4. sand the top leading edge of the square section of the barrel block/chamber where it pops up just under the cut in the slide. sand the slide out too, or file. taper both of these so they cannot snag on each other. this sometimes caused a malfunction if the slide were compressed down a little or really cold.
    5. I seemed to find silicone based greases or PTFE rather than oil worked better on most components as it didnt blow away as fast and helped prevent water from freezing on the surfaces.
    6. lube the mags and gun every 4 uses for the mags and 40 mags for the replica. This seems with the above changes to give good reliable performance.
    *********Mags wont drop free!! fixed.
    For mags that dont drop free this is due, on mine, to the grip inserts deforming the cheap inner plastic. First install the inserts you want. Then wrap a clean mag with 1 layer of paper and shove it up into the well without the slide in place, make sure its a single sheet, it doesnt bind or fold and it will take a bit of force. Try at your own risk. Once its all the way up there (slide is off) heat the grip only with a hot air gun slowly getting hotter until the mag wants to drop free a little. (pre-vent your mag so it doesnt explode on you) Then when it cools remove the paper and the mag will now drop free very easily. If it doesnt you didnt get the grip hot enough. Be careful not to damage the mechanical parts up high only heat the grip from the midline down.
    *********Other changes I made for accuracy were
    shimmed the rear sight slightly to adjust aim.
    filed out about 1/2 mm of the slide above the barrel so the barrel can point up a bit more.
    Installed a brass shim around the bottom of the slide just under the barrel to push the outer barrel up a bit
    filed out the inside of the outer barrel on the top side so the liner could point up a bit more inside of it.
    Lathed and installed a very fine brass ring over the barrel liner to recenter it to the now centered upward in the displaced(due to filing) bore of the outer barrel.
    These fixes helped the poor vertical aim of the pistol. So there is hope... if your willing to put a lot of work into it to make it a reliable replica.
    I also think getting a propane hand warrmer for games in the winter to warm the barrel block/chamber is a good idea, or blow a lot of hot air through it with a hair dryer. Or if your industrious heat your holster... carefully as you have a propane cylinder right there. Just remove the mag when you use any method of heating.
    DISCLAIMER:
    I am not responsible for your hurting or killing yourself or others or breaking anything. Use your own judgement this is what worked for me. Vent your mags before getting any hot source near them. Be Safe. Ask a responsible adult to supervise.

    i have the VP9 Tactical version with the threaded barrel. had it for about a year now(bought 2019 april roughly) and i have none of these problems. maybe they updated it since 2017 but yea its fully stock, about 1500 rounds shot. only problems iv run into is the mags dont hold much gas, the take down leaver is sometimes a bitch to lock back and the right side slide release if pushed all the way up can jam the slide release when trying to use the left side to release the slide from open. other then that mine shoot straight and hop up barrel assembly is fine with minimal movement and its solid, mags drop free no problem.

    This has to be the most detailed review of this gun ever. Now I feel quite sad for HK fans...some of these guns are only made by VFC (the VP9, G42, HK45C...) and they all have various nagging issues. Friend of mine is obsessed with the VP9 and wish to take one for CQB, I am afraid of telling him how the barrel wobble and tilts downwards, and how the trigger bar is so frail and everything above the frame shakes like hell. These just ruin his dream of gaming with his favorite pistol lol.

    Thanks in advance

    • @RogueSystem087
      @RogueSystem087  Před 7 lety

      oh dear, so if you bought another trigger bar and yet the problem still exists. It could be because the steel sear is a rounded corner on the 'square' area where the trigger bar meets the sear. Basically what's happening i think, is when the trigger bar tries to push the sear to drop the hammer, instead of pushing it, it just slides right underneath it. That could be it. To fix it... this is the tricky part, you can't grind the sear. You have to very very carefully, modify the trigger bar so it has more surface area contact with the sear (this will by extension increase the trigger pull weight), and hope for the best.
      Before you do all of that tho, I suggest you first check the trigger bar disconnect area on your trigger bar and on your slide. See if its doing anything weird. I have had cases where people had your exact situation, in the end it turned out that the screw on the slide to help prevent wear on the trigger disconnect area came out, so its constantly ''disconnecting'' your trigger bar hence the reason why when you pull the trigger, its not engaging with anything.

    Really appreciate this review since I bought this gun (based on looks).
    Due to a disability i dont have 100% strength in my hand, do you know of a modification or upgrade that can lighten up the trigger?

    • @RogueSystem087
      @RogueSystem087  Před 7 lety

      Sandor159 ah i see bro, so here is something u can do easily without risking the fragile nature of the trigger bar, is polishing the surface of the sear that touches the hammer. This allows the sear to smoothly "slip" instead of it slipping unpredictably off the hammer due to the excessive tension of the hammer spring. You can polish by asking a friend to use a buffing tool, metal polish, or 2000 (or higher) grit sand paper to clean up the surface and make it smooth. Sand paper will take the longest but it is the safest option.

    • @Sandor159
      @Sandor159 Před 7 lety

      Thanks for the fast reply! Luckily I have all the polishing stuff already so I will try this today. I also found another link on the internet, do you see the solution they use working? What is your opinion about this?
      sixmil.blogspot.be/2016/12/vfcumarex-vp9-trigger-tuning.html

    • @RogueSystem087
      @RogueSystem087  Před 7 lety

      ah this is not a popular modification because it stresses out the tip of a sear nub.
      So lets over exaggerate this situation in order for me to communicate this a little better.
      Let's pretend the sear contact was 10 mm long (over exaggerating). The modification in the link u sent basically allows you to make the sear contact 1mm long, which effectively results in a trigger with a crisp break, instead of a slippery break.
      If you don't understand why the mod makes it crisper, its because you no longer have to deal with the remaining 9mm of sear contact (sear metal grinding up against hammer metal).
      However, this in itself, is a big problem because the steel sear and steel hammer, if u use the ''tips'' of the sear contact to hold the hammer, it will wear out extremely fast. This is not a problem for IPSC users who use hi capas and glocks because they can replace these sears easily, but on the VP9, there is almost no aftermarket support and almost no replacement part supports (unless if u happen to know a VFC distributor (who may not even help you, hence the reason why this modification its not popular).

    • @RogueSystem087

      i assume your nozzle is pushed forward and your slide is stuck?
      If so what you do is rack your slide as far back as you can and then gently push your nozzle back into the slide.
      Continue holding the slide back after you push the nozzle back.
      Afterwards, use a long and thin tool (i use a roll pin punch kit) to carefully reach into the hammer chassis and poke your hammer down to manually lock the hammer. Afterwards your slide should be free. When you reach into the hammer chassis, please be careful to not damage your nozzle as you attempt to do this, most have broken their nozzles accidentally by doing what you 'may' need to do here.
      best regards, and good luck.

    May I ask do you have any experience with the Umarex VFC Walther PPQ? Having a hard time deciding between that and the VP9. I'm really concerned with the slide cracking on the PPQ, but after your review of the VP9, it does seem to have its own set of problems, so I'm still terribly undecided.

      @RogueSystem087  Před 7 lety

      well the PPQ i personally have not owned, but it is more or less a glock it even uses the same hammer and hammer chassis. Hm... tbh i would avoid unless if you are buying it for collection purposes.

    • @liangweihao7932
      @liangweihao7932 Před 7 lety

      Well, I would think that the main reason anyone would buy a Umarex VFC product is for the trades and for collection purposes, ha ha, since there are much better products in the market. But while I don't expect them to be stellar, neither should they be terribad.. What's your thoughts on the VFC Glocks then? You sound like you don't like them much..

    • @RogueSystem087
      @RogueSystem087  Před 7 lety

      well vfc glocks have quite a few problems actually, like i said tho if its all for show, go for it. Just don't expect much in the durability and performance department cos its not a very stable platform. The problems are... semi complex and sorta extensive, if you want to research those problems yourself, the simple explanation is... imagine everything wrong with a TM g18c (sears, auto sear engagement, hammer breaking, cocking problems, consistancy problems, all of that is present on the vfc glocks, but enhanced even further (cos a vfc glock uses stronger springs, different shaped hammer, which further enhances those issues to a point where its... not really worth fixing).

  • @johndonovan7018
    @johndonovan7018 Před 7 lety

    one point about the FNs you are wrong about. the disconnector metal plate is partially angled yes, but the face that actually contacts the actual lever is flat. the disconnect lever itself is also straight. it doesn't hit it at any angle on the FNS. so the system works! now why the messed it up on the VP9... who cares. its vfc. they are clueless in general.

    Great review and very informative. I have a big problem wt my VP9, the mag eject every time I shoot......damn, any idea how to fix this?

    • @RogueSystem087
      @RogueSystem087  Před 7 lety

      waibp i suspect the mag catch is rounded (so it doesnt have a ledge to lock the mag in, but normally it should be the case. If u take out the mag catch u should see the edges that touches the mag, if its rounded or not, it should be a fairly sharp corner

    would you mind doing a review for the VFC walther ppq m2? Does it have similar downsides as the vp9?

  • @icolater27
    @icolater27 Před 6 lety

    You have a fns ? It's strange that it works so well and the vp9 sucks so bad, but I think your being a bit harsh with it, the only real problem with the vp9 is the mag release tabs on the mag.

    • @RogueSystem087
      @RogueSystem087  Před 6 lety +1

      icolater27 the barrel is pointing downwards naturally, the inside of the die cast slide uses small roll pins to disconnect a cast trigger bar, the trigger bar wears quickly (i have 3 vp9s), the hammer doesnt always cock on the vp9 cos movable cocking point (like oldschool ksc).
      Not sure if im being harsh, but basically... it has a lot of unsolvable problems :( at least not easily solvable problems. Fixable but its disappointing that nothing was done to fix the europe to asia ver.

    • @icolater27
      @icolater27 Před 6 lety

      Ok cast trigger bar is boggy! The fns 9 has a steel one. So the only decent VFC pistol is the fns 9? Pity I like the look of the vp9. Thanks for the review and reply. Take care dude!!

    • @RogueSystem087
      @RogueSystem087  Před 6 lety

      in all honestly, trying vfc pistols, up to you. As of right now the vp9s, glocks, ppq, M&P have been out for a long time, still no support. I think there's a reason for it, its simply not really worth working on, not that great of a display piece either. I think the only unique thing the vp9 brings is that, its the only vp9 in the market as of right now.

    One thing I wanna ask: The slide made by what ( Aluminium or pot metal ? )

    • @RogueSystem087
      @RogueSystem087  Před 7 lety +2

      i'm not sure (which is why i didn't mention it in the video).
      but i think its casted pot metal because it does not have the aluminum weight when compared to other aluminum slides that are bigger.
      best regards,
      RS087.

    • @oliverle8438
      @oliverle8438 Před 7 lety +1

      flippino35 Partially, it's coming very soon. I actually got to meet with an Elite Force representative, and I got him to show me the internals of the new version! So the US version, which is expected to release sometime this fall, if not early winter, and it's technically a "Gen 5" since I guess they have already made a bunch of remedies to some of the other problems that came with the release version of the Asia and European VP9. The trigger bar is slightly stronger, and the chassis has been updated to hold the hopup unit better. It still has a bit of a downwards tilt to the barrel but he claimed that's going to be fixed next. The frame is still very similar to what it originally was, however the magazines do drop free now. He also told me they "fixed" the nozzle issues, but since he wasn't allowed to disassemble the gun any further than a field strip I'm not entirely sure what he meant by that, but it sounds promising. The prototype I was allowed to handle felt pretty good, and everyone's favorite Great White Wall of Disclaimer is on the slide, but they're getting better with it. As opposed to the KWA HK45, the text seems to be less flashy, if that makes sense. But yeah, it looks, feels, and sounds pretty good, so I'm probably going to check them out once they hit our side of the pond.
