Longest third down conversion in NFL history, and all the announcer can say about it is that it should've been a touchdown.
In rugby, maybe Hoard would have gotten the ball to Jake Reed.
I mean he's not wrong
He’s 1000% wrong. If that’s Robert smith it’s a 20 yard gain. Smith doesn’t wait for blocks. Smith is a slasher. He would of hit the hole. Made 1 cut. Went up field and got tackled.
Now further along in the run… sure.. smith scores.. but no way he gets to that point. Not even close.
Yeah it was something he should’ve left in his mouth
The longest 3rd down conversion was a 3rd and 50...
The biggest missed Super Bowl opportunity: Vikings vs Broncos in Super Bowl XXXIII
Agreed. That would have been a great one. I think Cowboys vs Raiders in the mid 70's should have happened too.
Jeff George ❤👍 one of the Best VIKINGS Quarterback
If you need 37, I'll get you 3...plus 49 yards.
This should have been the Super Bowl matchup year before
Awesome run by Hoard...Carter doing what Carter does!
Haha. Once Leroy broke the line of scrimmage, nobody wanted any part of him till they could run him down from behind. Dude was a bruiser.
One of my favorite Cris Carter catches of all time was in this game when he ran a deep inside route and reached out and snagged the ball easily
I think the one at the end of the game to set up the FG was one of his best ever. Flying way out of bounds, outstretched making the snag, barely dragging them toes in. Carter catches were a work of art.
Jeff threw a pretty football
Wow 3rd and 37 and they convert ive never seen that ever in football
I remember this and my uncles were like: You Gotta Be (Bleep) Me! Wow!
"But if he was Robert Smith......"😂
He would of been tackled at the 20-25 yard line.
Ron Pitts was the worst commentary guy. Whenever I saw he was going to be on the announcer team, I watched with the sound off.
Jeff George should have wish we could have kept him longer but had attitude ruined it for him
Hoard was built like a FB, like a Mike Alsott or John Riggins type. I'm shocked he played RB.
Damn I was 11 years old when this happened. It’s been 23 years man it’s still a beast run!
And of all people to do this...Leroy Hoard?
That was a hell of a run….I seen this happen to us more 😂
🤙!
Well, that was a blast from the past... 😆
And the monkey jumps on his back 😂
🙈
52 yard run and he only got the first down by 12 yards lol.
I wasn't all that surprised by the Hoard run. The Vikings had too much of a passing game in those days to load the box on 3rd and 37.😄
I watched this game, the graphics weren't that bad 😂
That makes sense why they will always try running it on 3rd and forever now. "Well, it worked this one time..." 😂
He ran out of bounds right in front of Gary Kubieack coach for the Denver Broncos
I love Leroy Hoard forever.
Jeff George could have been a HOF'er had he not had such a horrible attitude his entire career.
The pass by George to Carter, is it just me or was that the worst spiral every thrown in NFL history!
That Robert Smith comment was totally unnecessary IMO.
Salty commentary on both plays
Leroy Hoard was a Fantastic Running Back! You need 3 I’ll get you 40😂👍
Man. If the Vikings did that today on 3rd and long, it likely wouldn’t work and the fans would boo loudly.
A little pushing off by Carter? Notice how at the end, he looks to the referee like 'Does that count?'
I think he looked to the ref like "you know this counts, right?" cuz he sure looked at him with confidence
