Danny was 27 yrs. Old in 1992, I was 32 yrs. Old...Two yes from now I will be 60 so Danny is waaaay younger though as we speak. I'M 58 RIGHT NOW n my birthday is in September I'll be 59.

As a lifer wife this makes me sick, pissed off and angry. As I know so many inmates are treated this way and it's always the Co's did their jobs. Which is a load of shit. Jenna Lewis, what if he gets "turned out" in prison. He could get HIV or somthing. He could be washing another man's socks and underwear right now.
Unfortunately, the guards that work in prisons have as many mental issues as the inmates and many enjoy abusing prisoners. How else would an obese middle aged man get to beat up a young physically fit man, express sanctioned racism and call it a good day's work? The guards and other staff rationalize that the prisoners deserve to be treated that way because of their past violations. How can people be reformed if they aren't shown respect? It's a problem that has yet to be adequately addressed and I think Danny was lucky to get out considering how much worse things are likely to get under the current administration.

Well it is a very dangerous job not everyone goes to work having to worry about getting beat or stabbed I worked 2 years in a mental hospital shit will get to you these types of environments are nothing to play with you can loose your Life
A mental hospital is a place designed specifically for violent people who often can't control themselves. While you are supposed to treat a patient as respectfully as possible, there are extreme cases and also many documented cases of abuse by staff. Even in a prison, treating the inmates in a civil and respectful manner yields a far safer environment for everyone. They have certain minimum human rights that are often ignored, like feeding them spoiled food.
@@Robb403 we had crazy people but most patients we had were straight from prison some were cool but there where some that was straight convicts like most hospitals now there mixing patients with convicts they were very smart from being in the system so long and very violent
Robb403 If you give people welfare and open the boarders people will flood the country. People complain about kids being seperated from their parents at the boarder as if the parents didn't know that would happen. Life is cause vs effect. People are lazy and take the easiest path os resistance. Therefore the punishment has to be harsh enough to deter crime. You probably don't know this but prisoners run the prisons. You think 5 guards can control 500 prisoners? No. Guards are very friendly towards inmates because prisoners run the show. But you can't have an inmate say "I'm not going to another cell" how would the prison keep order if inmates could choose their cells?Immediately inmates would just disobey and the institution and things would become chaotic. One of the rare things inmates don't have complete control over is where they're housed... The little power that prison guards do have needs to be respected otherwise they are outnumbered 100 to 1 and that's not going to end well...
I was in San Quentin in 1985 and ended up in East Block, (segregation) for being gang affiliated, but I wasn’t just a regular Northern Mexican from San Jose. It’s just like Danny said, they will use that whenever they can’t get you on anything else.... I went through many similar situations like Danny, but I just never did a lot of straight time like him. I was only in SQ, a couple of years but it was all Hole time... Danny, my suggestion to you is to embrace freedom and all it has to offer! There are good people in this world, so when you find them don’t let them go. Peace my Brother...

I like how cool Danny is on the camera. He maintains the "eye" contact and has no problems with being super open about his life, which I think is quite an achievement after so many years in isolation.
These sadists must have thought all their Xmas's came at once when they not only got to practise their perversion, but actually got paid to do so. Not one morsel of humanity. Danny has shown unbelievable resilience and strength and not least, humility. Not many would have his attitude. I wish him the very best, he most certainly deserves it.
Interestingly enough, this sort of behavior displayed by the guards is quite human. It has been demonstrated through a few studies that it isn't uncommon for people who are placed in positions of power, like literally holding people in cages, to end up behaving like this. There was even a movie that's based closely on a rather controversial attempt at a study of this. It's called The Stanford Prison Experiment.

When they are in a position to enact it, they do it with relish. Because so many "guards" engage in a pack mentality, like dogs, it is always easy to justify their actions until eventually no justification is needed, it becomes the norm. I have seen this behaviour in the disability field in which I have worked for many years. Obviously the behaviour of the "carers" is not nearly as extreme but only for reasons of self preservation as they are in a more public arena. As soon as the decent people within the ranks make it obvious they don't agree, they will be ostracised and either set up or will resign. I was one such person. So not everyone can or will lose their "humanity". Some are weak and know it is wrong but will not stand up for fear of losing their job.

You guys have to remember he was in a violent prison. It was cuff up and potentially get stabbed or don't cuff up. Nobody else in the unit cuffed up cause they know the risk even the dude with asthma wouldn't cuff up. They would rather take on the cops than the other inmates. Also I think people don't realize prison is about rehabilitation.... This is not rehabilitation
You can't speak logic to stupid man. Most people are so brainwashed. They just think they've come to their own opinions. Too many people don't think or are incapable of critical thinking. People have a family member that's a cops or a corrections officer etc and they take on the mindset that these people are heroes and can do no wrong. Reality is like one big soap opera, or reality tv show. The true motives and agendas are hidden but they package it to the public in a way that makes it seem beneficial and righteous. We are lied to, manipulated, programmed and conditioned to this. Critically think about reality outside the box they train us all to think from and look at what's going on. There's things going that wouldn't/shouldn't be going on in a free and fair society. Its the royals and the serfs all over again. We're slowly more and more of a product to our government. And the left would sell out what little rights we still have for a false sense of security. Government all over the world thrive off of " create the problem/be the solution ". We are all slaves and that's globally. This system creates the have and have nots and pits them against each other. They've divided the people along ever possible axis, and we're distracted at ever corner, so we don't see this. We are all slaves who can't see the shackles around our ankles. If we were free I'd be allowed to walk into the woods and live off the land. We dont have that option. Youre backed up intoi a corner and forced to be member of the "cult of society " . And this society isn't our doing. Democracy is a farce. We only think we have a say but we don't. I just hope the majority of us wake up before its too late. Which is why I tell anybody who listens.

Long-term solitary is a crime against humanity.
It doesn’t take very long. A few days of complete isolation, does serious damage. Once you go into weeks, it may as well be months and months may as well be years. 7 years, that’s a total lifetime.
A couple weeks will break anyone mentally and funny he says he has mental problems because of being in solitary for years and they think the best "correction" is to put him back there

I once met a prison guard who told me some of the evil things he would do to the inmates inside. When he told me I realized he was a vial and immature human being beyond words. Prison guards today are still like this. I am glad Danny is alive and well to share this story.
