I would say this “ambush” tactic is very situational and time-wise. You'd have to be very lucky as there’s many circumstances of how it CAN go wrong. Edit: That doesn’t mean it’s not hilarious when it works, though. I don’t want people to think I’m a monotone robot with no soul. I think it is pretty silly that you can even do this.
When you shot in front of the spy, said "go go go", then tested your taunt, the spy knew you wanted him to try shooting you. That's what I love about TF2. There's so much you can communicate between players even without text or voice chat. And then if there is an awkward moment everyone just types kill in console anyway.
If only you could hold the scared pose and then voluntarily exit out of it. Imagine the ability to hide inside walls on demand and then being able to voluntarily control when to exit them. That would be so epic.
I'd love to see this happen, but it would probably get noticed on a larger scale and patched out sooner. Timing the taunt perfectly somehow feels more satisfying too

I wish I could try it out properly so far, but TF2 has a real bad habit lately of having weird graphical line glitches crashing my PC after like 10 minutes and then rebooting.
Instead of flanking people as scout, you become one with the walls and give them the element of surprise, only problem is that if an pyro starts doing "spy check", then you're toast because you also become vunerable since you can't move while doing the scaredy cat taunt

Like not being able to chat f2p? If so, then yes, or you can buy 3 keys, use around 2.2 keys to trade for the taunt, and use the rest of the metal for class weapons you don't have.
the scaredy-cat taunt can be detected from a mile away with how far the hand sticks out. you're just showing the people who aren't observant enough to see a hand in the wall.
You should do one with the high five taunt and peeking around corners while being silent. Or the balloonicorn ride taunt on the battlements of 2fort that can phase through the metal walls and confuse the hell out of snipers.
kill binds confused me as a child and they continue to confuse me but I still type kill into the command box as fast as I can when everyone hits theirs
I’ve used the box Trot taunt to get under the cart and stop the train on frontier so many times. Half the team go crazy not understanding why it won’t move.
you can also *kinda* do this with pyros Balloonibouncer taunt if you aim it into the wall i like to do it in front of the doors during set up so im on the other teams side and i always get a reaction

Another thing you can do ontop of this is do a postive voice command to cancel out the taunt lines. this is very helpful with taunt kills.
You can do this exact same thing with the beginning and end of pyros car taunt, some people don’t notice because the car takes up such little space
