As soon as the T50 that I had but now I dont arrives from Amazon I will be installing this dampener that I had ordered from Amazon. The tip of letting the part self tap then turning it around and screwing it in worked good.

Thanks for the video. I ordered the part from my local Ford dealer and scheduled the install for today. My Superduty got its first service today so I thought I would get the tailgate assist installed too. 3 1/2 hours later the service writer let me know that they couldn't do the install today because they didn't have a tech available today to do the work. Evidently "the rear bumper has to come off" to install the part. Looks like I'll do the install myself this weekend. A big thanks for all the videos and all the info you provide!

Don't believe it's color matched, it's just that he has a black truck, and the part comes in black. That's why the instructions show a paint gun as needed tools, so you can paint it to match the truck. That particular part is actually installed on the bed before it's goes through the paint process.

@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod I think the big problem with that is there is really no way to automatically unlatch it before it’s lowered, I don’t think there is enough room. I guess if you use a electro/hydraulic or maybe a screw drive type system you wouldn’t have to worry about unlatching because those two systems could actually keep the tailgate shut.
