  • This video is a bit of a departure from our 'normal' content (again).
We crossed the Equator (0 degrees Latitude) at the Prime Meridian (zero degrees Longitude) this morning at 05:07 local time. This location is also referred to as 'Null Island'. There is no land here, just a large weather buoy. It was still dark when we arrived. Amazingly, there were almost 30 people up and out on deck including the Captain to witness the event.
At 09:00 the ship hosted King Neptune and his court for the traditional Shellback Line Crossing Ceremony. This one as special because when you cross the line (Equator) at the prime Meridian, you are considered a Emerald or Royal Diamond Shellback. It is a very rare occurrence.
The captain and ships officers made a slight course deviation to allow us all to claim the special Emerald Shellback designation. It is moments like this that make memories that last a lifetime.

Hi Barb & Paul. Glad to see this clip of the crossing-the-line ceremony. Far more fun and more publishable than my crossing with the Navy!
You've had the pleasure by now on your WC to meet Shey, Benji, Jay & Gary - the club band. I love them (we met on a cruise Ovation that is on our channel).
Speaking of channels, I have subbed to yours.
    BTW.. traveller vs tourist indeed!!

Glad you enjoyed the ceremony. They did a nice job of it even though all the "punishments" had to be bio-degradable. Heard some say it was actually quite tasty. :-)
