I’m 40. No one taught me how to do my hair. I watched video after video. You sir have taught me more in the last week than my entire life. I curled my hair per your recommendations and it’s lasted 3 days! It never lasted over a day before. I bought all the recommended hair products for my type and I’m already seeing results. @@wagnis1 I used Olaplex several years ago for my damaged hair and it worked REALLY well, so I wanted to start using it again (for the same reason =/ ur!). When I went looking around online to order it, I read a lot about this alleged lawsuit you're talking about, so it made me a bit nervous to use it again. I looked on Sephora and many of the reviews mentioned it also, BUT after I filtered the reviews so that they only included verified purchases and non-compensated reviews, they went from approximately 3,000 down to 300, and I didn't read any reviews talking about damage (although I didn't read all 300, lol!). That seemed very suspicious to me, and felt VERY off, like, what is going on here? So, albeit a little apprehensively, I ordered and used them anyway over a week ago and haven't had ANY issues. I also went to the Olaplex website and read what they had to say, and they said they will be vigorously defending themselves in court because they do strict testing of their products and there's no way their products could cause hair loss, so that made me feel better about using it too, because they weren't being all hush about it. They also removed a potentially harmful ingredient (and their products contained very little of it) as soon as they learned it could be harmful... an ingredient many U.S. companies continue to use, but was banned in Europe. There are an unbelievable amount of chemicals in this exact scenario that you and I eat, put on ourselves, etc. everyday, and are probably hurting us in ways we don't even know about. At least Olaplex took it out of their formula, even though they legally didn't have to.
Some possible causes, that these people could have lost hair from, that I read/thought about were:
      1. Could some of the bottles have been tampered with, or had been fakes? The big online retailer that starts with an 'A' is known for not doing enough to stop that practice... exactly why I didn't buy through them. Their reviews mentioned receiving products that weren't sealed, smelled off/different than usual, or were a different color or consistency, etc.
      2. Most people are going to be looking to use Olaplex because their hair is damaged, and damaged hair can break off and/or fall out... a lot at once, or over time.
      3. If a person's had covid, whether they knew they had it or not, that can definitely cause hair to fall out, so could them using Olaplex just have been a coincidence and nothing Olaplex did wrong? I'm in the medical field, and I've had many patients tell me about their hair loss with covid.
      4. SO many people don't read directions on products and/or follow the directions of non-professionals on social media, which can be very harmful! For example, putting a treatment, that instructions say should be left on for 10 minutes, in their wet hair, then putting it up in a tight bun, then sleeping on it all night. This can cause severe damage, breakage, and hair loss.
Another thing that makes me a bit leary as to whether these claims are for real is that, years ago, a hair dresser told me that L'Oreal, who owns Redken and many other brands, was going to buy the Olaplex company at one time, and part of the deal included Olaplex revealing their patented formula to L'Oreal, but after they did, L'Oreal pulled out of the deal. Then they used that info to make a bonding formula... pretty crappy thing to do, and they actually lost a $50 million lawsuit filed against them by Olaplex, I read. It just puts something in the back of my mind that there could be something fishy going on with all of this. Patents are only allowed to be held by the original inventor for 20 years, too, so if another company was able to start using that formula after the patent expires, and the company that invented it got some really bad press in the meantime... hmmm, I don't know. 🤔 It just makes me wonder. Olaplex's patent runs out in 2034, so other companies may be positioning themselves to come out on top of the heap of companies that are going to be in competition with Olaplex when their patent runs out fairly soon.
Also, I wouldn't believe about 90% of the crap you see on Facebook... it's a VERY poor source for any factual information.
I guess the truth will "all come out in the wash," so to speak... pun intended Please know that I'm not trying to throw any shade your way because I know you're just trying to warn people, I just wanted to put out there that there's always two sides to every story, everyone is innocent until proven guilty, and we may not know people's and company's true intents and motivations, which sadly are often financial in nature.

I'm 38, found your channel a few months ago. I'm happy to say I do the majority of what you recommend. I have wavy frizzy hair that can be quite curly when I diffuse it. It's also very long (mid-chest back length). I've had a very good hair routine for about 4 years now which includes the following: 1) wash twice a week, no more 2) incorporate a hair mask before conditioner AND I use leave-in conditioner. This one was hard to swallow for me, as it seemed like too many products. But I swear, the more conditioned my hair got, the easier (predictable it was to work with) and easier to style. 3) I blowdry with the Revlon brush and yes, I use a heat-protecting cream. Sometimes if I remember I mix with a smoothing cream. My hair looks amazing for like 4 days, I can usually push it to five or six (then it gets gross). 4) Each night I brush my hair out gently with a bamboo brush and apply oil to the ends, then I sleep in a satin hair bonnet for long hair. This has also been a game changer, my hair is no longer getting tangled during my sleep and looks very beautiful when I wake. When I wake I usually brush it once more and i'm off for the day.
I wish someone had explained all this to me years ago. I wasted SO much money on products I didn't need and tools that didn't work. I'm enjoying the extra tips I am learning from your channel. Thanks so much for what you do

I was born in 1970 and wanted long hair since I can remember. My mom had short hair that wasn't very thick and, despite the fact that she went to cosmetology school, I don't think she knew what to do with my hair (which is much thicker) For conditioner, she put about 1/2 inch of "creme rinse" in a plastic tumbler filled it with water, stirred it with a comb and poured it over my hair.
Then it took about half an hour of combing through it with "no more tangles" spray. She would get soooo frustrated!!! I can still hear her saying "You've got enough hair for three people!"
Once I started doing my own hair, I realized what conditioner was!

@@erikaronska1096 My mom struggled with my hair as well.
From France, where I was born to the Caribeans, when we moved in, it got worst, because of the humidity.
I remember us going to store and her begging for a strong comb that wouldn't break when she was detangling my hair.
I also remember us going to the phamarcist and meeting with a seller representative from René Futerer, like this channel, the women took her time to explained to us how to take care of my hair and what products to use.
She was white and had 2c curls. My mum and I are black with 4c hair. (I want to mention that 😏)
My mom did what she could, but when I took over, it was a total game changer 🥳
I found a way to not hurt myself. I'm tender headed, she is not. Not at all !!!!
      I gained a few inches.
The only time I break a comb is when I got upset.
      And so on, and on...

I have medium hair, on the thinner side. It's definitely not thick, but neither is it thin. With the even reasonable (not necessarily the best) products and reasonable care (that's not gonna be the case any further since finding the education here with you), by appearance it is not evident that my hair is on the thinner side.
Other than not having thick, luscious hair - I love my hair, mostly the color of silver and white -- I WAITED for this hair (my mom had it, I knew I was going to have it too ;)!
For several years I used and loved Fekkai shampoo and conditioner (funny because Target stocks their line!), they changed their formulas and I stopped buying it. Then used only Matrix -the purple shampoo for my silver hair. When the Fekkai RX Reparatives ran out, I got some inexpensive hair conditioner with the Argen oil. Nothing like the product I had become accustom to.
Sadly I decided to go cheaper with the purple shampoo, and now I'm a year, easily, into 'sad hair' from the neglect!
I remember how beautiful my hair once looked, and that is why I used Fekkai for several years. My hair loved it! My favorite was their glossing shampoo with the Reparatives (Argen oil) conditioner. I just ordered from Ebay a bottle of each, that original formula on the conditioner. I was just swell paying $30 each, per Fekkai's shampoo / conditioner (before altering formulas) to have what it did for my hair.
Perhaps this is how/why your video came up in my feed? I wonder how the Redkin will do with my hair? I can't imagine better! I have, although many, many years ago, used some of Redkin's products, they were excellent.
I'm going to continue learning from your experience and all that you share. I will be using the products recommended by you, and supporting your website shop. Thank you again!

My hair has improved tremendously since I started watching your videos. My mids and ends have never looked better. I still struggle a bit with frizz but I think it's because I wash it every other day, so I'll try dry shampoo to last longer between washes.

Love your videos, for me they have actually been life changing and since starting my simplified routine with your recommended products, I’ve noticed a huge difference after struggling with my hair since I can remember. I live in Berlin, Germany but even had my mom bring over two cans of the Berlin dry shampoo that I ordered from your salon 😂
I have a question about Olaplex 3 - should you wash your hair before putting it in? I just find it personally counterintuitive to put it on my hair when I’ve used product in my hair before hand. Thanks for any insight on this!!

Tnx for the absolutely great content! I personally would love to watch a video on your perspective on going gray and what hairstylists can do to help at the beginning and during the process of that transition. Of course the decision is for everyone personally to make, but there's a lot of uncertainty in my head around the topic and maybe you can shed some light. I've noticed that most of the models in your videos are young women, but I doubt if that correlates to the majority of your fangroup. ;-) I'm 54 myself, have dyed my hair for 3 decades, it's very fine and brittle (I'm using all of your tips, tnx again!) but going gray is something different. My partner isn't thrilled about the idea and I'm not sure if it's really going to make my hairstructure better. I would love a video on that. Tnx and love from the Netherlands!

I have two questions: 1) my hair has been changing texture. It is medium thickness/density, and used to be super straight and smooth, but as I get older it has become more frizzy in general and wavy around my face. I don't think the frizz is from dryness because I only wash once a week and I use leave-in and oils, so I assume I am developing natural waves, but idk how to make it look good. I've tried using gel a la the curly girl method but it doesn't look great, and it makes me have to wash my hair more often. I've just been using a light oil spray to calm it down, but I can't get the waves to look defined and pretty. Is there a better way? 2) what do you think of bar shampoo/conditioner? I have been using them for a while because I'm trying to get as close to zero-waste as possible. I like the ones I have, they get my hair clean, but they are not helping the frizz situation. Do you have favorites? Techniques?

One thing though I differ is I won’t use dry shampoo. I would rather wash my hair. That’s just me. I guess maybe it’s because it’s easier for me since I can just air dry and it looks decent. @Erin C is it only happening at the nape of your neck? Nowhere else on your head? That's a section that gets more damage than other parts of your hair, you may need to use a heavier conditioner on that section or do a masque. I have super fine hair too, and its sooooo hard to find something lightweight enough for the roots sections but also hydrating enough for my ends, so i gave up and started using 2 different conditioners and it fixed my issues right up. But if you don't want the recurring expense of 2 products every single day, you could just get a more intense masque or deep conditioner, or just START using one if you haven't been before. And sleeping with your hair up instead of down, sleeping is when most of the friction on that area happens.

Hey BP, what are your thoughts on using a shampoo palm brush? I feel like I'm getting my scalp cleaner agitating my shampooed scalp in small circles, and it stops me from using my fingernails. But I have fine hair and am getting a little bit of a back brushed effect which, while is great for volume, I have been told is damaging. Any recommendations or warnings for me?

I tried the Olaplex no 3 it made my hair so dry and even worse, never again... My hairdresser said that Olaplex makes the hair good when you use it and when you stop the hair gets worse but my hair hated it instantly

@@KittieHoney Well I don’t want to be spending that kind of money if it doesn’t work. Maybe Chris could send us a free sample if it’s so great. Lol

Question, apparently Olaplex isn’t good for the hair and they’re being sued. What is your thought on that matter?
