  • Let's make some jumbo game pieces from some of our favorite board games. No fancy tools or materials needed! Just some paper, cardboard, hot glue, a knife, a ruler, and a printer.
    The free PDF templates are here: bit.ly/bigmeeple
    Please note, this craft is not intended for unsupervised children. It involves hot glue and sharp knives.
    Board game pieces featured in this segment are from these games:
    Cat and Raccoon are from "Root": boardgamegeek....
    The red "Meeple" is originally from "Carcassonne": boardgamegeek....
    but also used in many other games.
    The stacking animals are from "Animal Upon Animal": www.habausa.co...

    Unnecessary but fun! Let me know if you made your own! As an additional build note, if you soften the edges with some sandpaper and you don't like the look of the exposed cardboard there (I think it's a nice "distressed" look), a little carefully applied marker or paint of a similar color can really hide that edge.

      Could you make a template of the mouse?

      @WoodfishToys  Před 3 lety

      @@NickTeri Hey Nick, good idea, I thought it would be a little trickier to make because of the tight corner between the ears, but it is a pretty cute design, so I think it would be worth it. I've traced it for you and added it to the pdf. Go to the link here: bit.ly/bigmeeple
      and then find the pdf labeled "Cat + Vagabond + Mouse". I haven't built one yet so let me know if it works!

    Man I loved this "episode" on the Dice Tower. Your videos - and your technique - it excellent. Kudos, and thanks to you, I've been stockpiling some Amazon boxes so I can make me a "Marquis De Cat" meeple for our game room! Keep on, keeping on!

      Ya our basement is definitely filling up with Amazon boxes and cereal boxes I'm saving for these segments! 😬 Thanks very much for the kind words! Sometimes it's hard to find time for these projects so I really appreciate the encouragement! Hopefully I'll see more of your segments on the Dice Tower soon as well!

      You will!! I know all about the challenges of finding time - especially with kids! I've been filming multiple segments so that I can "reveal" them all on a Dice Tower segment that will be releasing VERY soon, but it's been hard to find time to film 6-7 different segments, especially without a dedicated studio space in the house. So it's a lot of setup and tear down every time! Anyways, I'm going to grab some orange construction paper and see how my wife's new Cricket cutter does with the Cat Warrior template!

    I made the set of 3 Root figures with the idea to give it as a birthday present and then I liked it so much that I made a second set for myself (I was on a week holiday during lock-down).
    My friend who got it, liked it so much that he posted a picture on BGG and now they are asking him for the link of this video.
    Thank a lot and keep up the good work. I already made a Tokio Dice and I have all I need to start the component trays.
    I would gladly send you a picture but I can't find your email address.

      That's very kind of you to say. The ideas usually just come from playing a game and thinking, "Wouldn't it be cool if this was _______", where the blank is usually "bigger!" or "3D!" :) But then the challenging part is figuring out how to make it without using fancy tools or materials.

    Any chance of you making an animal upon animal giant die?

    • @WoodfishToys
      @WoodfishToys  Před 3 lety

      Hehe I like the way you think! I did make one (it's the orange one hiding on the shelf in the background of the first shot). It's slightly larger than the dice from my King of Tokyo giant dice video, so to help it roll better and make it easier for little kids to grasp, it has open corners. Do you think it would be worth making it into a template? Maybe people would be more likely to make just the jumbo dice to use with the normal sized pieces, which is a fun way to play.
