    I made it! It is really neat. The inner cone is tricky to get to stay in the shape correctly but I managed it by putting a few drops of hot glue on the base inside the cone placement and putting that inner cone on first. Then I quickly added the outer cone onto it without getting glue on that piece and let it cool. Once that cooled, I removed the outer cone and put a lot of hot glue in the inner cone so that it will hold it's shape. I love how it turned out. Thank you for sharing it!

    Not gonna lie, I'm going to try this.
    I will take a freedom of modifying it for DnD purposes.
    In DnD, HP for bosses (and players at certain point) can exceed 99 points, but your tutorial showed me how to do it nicely. Thank you so much!
    EDIT: I just came with an idea how to make it fancy. Find a fancy sheet of paper that absorbs ink. It will make it look so nicely

      Oh fantastic idea, I hope they have fun creating those trays! 😀 (Make sure the paper is well adhered to the cardboard - I don't know if I made that clear enough in the video. And score those fold lines well to make folding easier.) If you want more crafty projects for the kiddos I'm hoping to have a sock puppet making video out within a week or so.

    This kinda thing is my jam! Great production on the videos as well. I was wondering, is there any chance of doing basic board game DIY stuff? How to make a bi-folding board, homemade tokens, ect for print-n-play/prototype games? That stuff exists on other youtube sites but if you keep up with this kind of thing it would be nice to have here - all in one place.

    • @WoodfishToys
      @WoodfishToys  Před 3 lety +3

      So glad you like it! I was trying to do projects that had something a little unique over what has been covered in other existing videos. For example, I want to show how to make a card storage box, but I want to make sure I have a design that feels more premium/unique than a standard tuckbox, since that's covered so extensively in other videos. However, if you think the style/format I'm using would make it worthwhile, then I could consider doing those more standard PnP instructions as well. You make an interesting point about the "all-in-one-place" benefit. For those that haven't checked them out already "Dining Table Print & Play" ( czcams.com/users/DiningTablePrintPlay ) and "Pub Meeple" ( czcams.com/users/pubmeeple ) are great options that I use for long-form in-depth PnP instructions.

      @@WoodfishToys I'm wondering if this can be done in a smaller size. Any idea on the substitute for the control knobs if to make them smaller? Thanks!

    • @WoodfishToys
      @WoodfishToys  Před 3 lety

      @@scurry2175 Overall smaller diameter or thinner (lower profile)? If you want thinner then you might be able to cut down the height of the conical cardboard section and then glue on metal bottle caps. The serrated edges might look cool once painted/covered in tape. I know some water bottle caps are much shorter than others so you could keep an eye out for those as another option.

    • @scurry2175
      @scurry2175 Před 3 lety

      @@WoodfishToys I'm thinking to make an overall smaller size of the whole thing, printing them out in 50% of the size or something. Bottle caps would hence be too big for that. Maybe it'd make the gluing process rather difficult as well?

    • @WoodfishToys
      @WoodfishToys  Před 3 lety

      @@scurry2175 Ah ok, that would be neat to try! Maybe try that with thick cardstock instead of the cardboard, and then you might want to switch to white glue for the flat seams (the hot glue might be too thick). Not sure for the small control knobs - I think I'd look at some toy car wheels as a starting point.

    • @WoodfishToys
      @WoodfishToys  Před 2 lety

      Ya, I think it would work fine with just one dial. Just note that as designed, you would only get numbers from 0 to 9 with one dial. (With the original 2 dials you can make numbers 0-99.) Hope this helps!

    What's with PRE-BENDING or CREASING these fold lines?

    • @WoodfishToys
      @WoodfishToys  Před 3 lety +2

      Hi, thanks for the question! I find that scoring and pre-bending is essential for getting a good shape when doing projects like these. When an edge is pre-bent before doing the gluing step, it really makes it a lot easier to have it form into the right shape as you glue.
