    Everyone saying that this setup isn't running enough power to justify a billet block..I have a friend who runs that same Garrett turbo in his STI and it made 480 on the dyno.. thats still a TON of power but yet, still comfortable to daily drive. Sure its a little tame for how far you could push this engine but it won't be slow by any means, and rotated kit can always come later if you feel like making a monster of a car.

Before it became common knowledge I swear I resourced this subject for 40 hours over the course of 2 years. Finally bought a brand new ihi genuine subaru turbo in box. Installed it and spun the bearing immediately. 1400 dollars. I'd that was you guys who put out a video years ago going into detail listing the symptoms but at the end of the video making a statement to the effect of we know why this happens but we're keeping that bit of information as our own trade secret. Ben Vos Hi Ben, whilst I agree with this particular build and Perhaps WRXs in general a cop may not pick it up. Having said that about 10 years ago a mate of mine had a shop build a GTi-R for him. You name it, it had it. Large aftermarket turbo, Jun stroker, FMIC, power FC, injectors, PPG box etc. I have no idea what it cost, but must of been close to 50k with car, parts, labour and tuning. On something like it's 2nd outing got pulled over by the cops, EPA and put off the road. Now that's a bad story as it is, but it gets worse. He pays to get it put back to standard, gets it back on the road, then pays for all the mods to be put back on. Couple weeks later pinged again. It nearly broke him. He landed just getting rid of it after that. So whilst he might be extremely unlucky. It worry me my hard earned could be just thrown away like that.

    • @fredramsey8965
      @fredramsey8965 Před 4 lety

      If compression is good fix all your leaks first. Replace all your fluids and do your timing belt, water pump, idlers/tensioner, and spark plugs.Sounds like you need to reseal your turbo, look up some how tos for that or replace your turbo with a used wrx one (or another cheap option). Make sure and check the turbo inlet hose, they crack and fail on 2002 subarus let alone one that's 10 years older. If your fluids are new, you're getting good spark, and there aren't any leaks in your turbo system your car should be doing pretty well.

    Why buy a $10,000 block if you're not going to push HP numbers at even half what it's rated? Complete waste of money, imo, love the knowledge and info in the video though.
